00:04Hey everyone! It's me, Jun, and my best friend, Stephanie.
00:07Hi!
00:08We're in front of Amiibo Records in Hollywood,
00:10and we're about to go inside and pick out some albums that shaped our lives.
00:19Do you want to start?
00:20Yeah, totally!
00:21Okay, so my first record is T-Rex's Electric Warrior,
00:26and this record is really near and dear to my heart
00:28because it's actually the first record I ever bought with my own money.
00:31I was like 12 years old, and I would just play this on repeat
00:35on the record player my cousin gave me,
00:38and I would just like bounce around, jump around my room with this on repeat,
00:42and sing along to Mark Bolin.
00:47Alright, so the first CD I've ever bought was 3LW's self-titled album.
00:53I just had MTV, and I remember seeing 3LW's No More music video play,
00:56and I'm like, I think I like that.
00:57So I went to Borders the next day, and I got this album,
01:01and I literally listen to it every single day in 5th grade.
01:08Alright, so my next album is Dummy by Portishead.
01:12It's in the genre of trip-hop, and I just really connected with this album when I was younger,
01:18and this is probably like my number one live show I've ever seen as well.
01:23Yeah, you like cried in it, right?
01:26She started singing Wandering Star, and I was just like,
01:28and I just started crying. It was a very emotional experience.
01:32But yeah, I love this album.
01:34I love this album.
01:37Next up, we've got Flaming Lips, Yoshimi Badass Peak Robots.
01:41Yoshimi is the hero, and she's just like this Japanese girl,
01:46and I feel like it really breaks stereotypes,
01:48because I feel like Asian women are commonly associated with being,
01:52you know, submissive, meek, but no, Yoshimi is a complete badass.
01:56She's saving the world, fighting these robots.
02:04Okay, so the last album I'm going to talk about is Air's Moon Safari.
02:09Actually, growing up, you really listen to some real moody music.
02:12Yeah, definitely. All the feels are going on.
02:14Yeah, all these hormones are happening, and you're really contemplating like,
02:18Who am I? What is my purpose in life?
02:23Yeah.
02:24My last album is called Ones and Zeros by Young Guns.
02:27Yeah, it's my boyfriend's band, and they were,
02:29they recorded a part of this album in San Francisco,
02:32and that's actually how we met.
02:33Stephanie and Udron, the guitarist, and as a result,
02:36they introduced me and Ben together, and yeah,
02:39sparks flew. You fell in love.
02:41I did.
02:44We had such a great time at Amoeba,
02:46reminiscing over old albums and memories.
02:48Yeah, it was awesome.
02:49We couldn't stay there for hours.
02:52It was very difficult for us to both dwindle it down to the very few that we chose.
02:55Yeah, it was really tough.
02:57We would love to know what your favorite albums are in the comments down below,
03:00and please subscribe to this channel if you'd like more videos from Refinery29,
03:04and I'll see you next time.
