00:01Ice cream, ice cream, ice cream.
00:03We can never get enough.
00:05Whatever the flavor or the toppings, this fad will never fade.
00:08So come along with us to learn how ice cream is made.
00:12Heavy cream, condensed skim milk, and liquid cane sugar
00:15are mixed together with egg yolks and other natural ingredients,
00:18depending on the flavor.
00:26The pasteurizer heats the ingredients to kill the harmful bacteria,
00:30and then it's off to the homogenizer,
00:32where it's pressurized and smoothed into an even mixture.
00:36It's held in the tank room for four to eight hours
00:38to allow the ingredients to intermingle,
00:41and from there, it heads to the flavor vats.
00:43Here, a range of flavors are pumped into the mixture.
00:46Things like vanilla, banana puree, pure peppermint, and more.
00:51Next, it goes to the freezer.
00:53At Ben & Jerry's Waterberry Plant, the freezers are 40 degrees below zero.
00:58To make chunky flavors, the ice cream takes a turn through the chunk feeder.
01:08Swirls of fudge, caramel, peanut butter, and other flavors
01:12flow through a variegator and get injected into the ice cream.
01:19The flavors are dispensed into pint containers using an automatic filler,
01:23a machine that fills 120 pints per minute.
01:36The pints head over to the spiral hardener,
01:39an environment that's 60 degrees below zero with the windchill,
01:42and become fully frozen.
01:45This delicious ice cream is distributed nationwide and enjoyed by all.
