00:00Nice to meet you.
00:01Nice to meet you.
00:02Love your tattoos.
00:03I have a bunch of bad tattoos,
00:05but I'm trying to get a little better as I go along.
00:07I am going to show you the Winnie the Pooh ink
00:09I got when I was 16.
00:10I have a fairy on my shoulder that makes you feel better.
00:13So I hear you have a new book coming out.
00:15This one?
00:17What was the most surprising part
00:19about the whole writing process?
00:20There was a lot that I wanted to say
00:22and then I found when I was writing about some of the trauma
00:24and like my sexual assault.
00:26It was hard kind of connecting with those emotions again.
00:28And then when I did,
00:29I kind of found myself going down the rabbit hole a bit.
00:32Did you run into any writer's block
00:33while you were writing your book?
00:35I found it hard to stop.
00:36I have so much to say.
00:37I never shut up.
00:38So obviously it was knowing when to like pull it back
00:42and stop, which I found quite hard.
00:44Being in the public eye means getting lots of opinions.
00:47Some of them good, some of them bad.
00:49How do you deal with haters?
00:50The best advice I've given was by Ice-T
00:52and Ice-T told me haters hate up.
00:54The people that are hating hate themselves.
00:56They're projecting.
00:57I try not to take it personally,
00:59but if they're just being rude,
01:01then I block them or I let my fans roast them.
01:04What for you is the craziest part about being a mother?
01:08Bodily fluids that get on you,
01:11like so much poop and so much pee
01:14and so much vomit and so much drool
01:17and like mashed up food.
01:19Is there one beauty product
01:20that you keep with you at all times?
01:21Probably lipstick.
01:22I have probably like 20 lipsticks in my bag.
01:26Can you give me like one of your best pieces of beauty advice?
01:29I feel like I'm so boring, but I love skincare.
01:33Making sure you take your makeup off at night,
01:35making sure you wash your brushes regularly, like once a week.
01:39Tell me about your obsession with Disney.
01:41I love Disneyland because no one judges you
01:44because everyone's just a big nerd
01:47or they're like experiencing it for the first time
01:49and it's just like really fun.
01:51Is there one thing that you do when you first wake up?
01:53I wash my face.
01:54Then I use an exfoliating.
01:55It's like a rice enzyme powder.
01:57Then I use what they call their essence water.
02:00It's basically a toner,
02:01but you put it in your hand and you press it into your face.
02:03Then I use moisturizer.
02:05Then I use sunscreen.
02:06And then if I put on makeup, then I put makeup on.
02:09How does fashion and beauty make you feel empowered?
02:12I don't know if it does
02:13because unfortunately you're seeing kind of the same bodies
02:17and the same kind of people
02:19and like it can feel like maybe I'm not doing enough
02:22because there's not enough diversity out there.
02:24What are you most excited about for this fall?
02:28I love like the holidays at Disneyland
02:31and feel like it's winter time,
02:32even though they have fake snow falling
02:34and you're like melting.
02:35What's your favorite drink?
02:36I'm asking my husband.
02:37What's my favorite drink?
02:39I love a lemon drop.
02:40He's right.
02:41What was your first job?
02:42I worked at a day spa called Southern Styles.
02:46It was in a strip mall in Laurel, Mississippi.
02:48I was a terrible employee.
02:50I was supposed to wipe down the tanning beds
02:51when people were done.
02:53Sometimes I didn't.
02:54If there was something on I was watching,
02:56I would just be like, oh.
02:57You've always paved your own way.
02:58What advice do you have for younger girls
03:00who might want to follow in your footsteps?
03:02I think it's important to have people around you
03:03that understand where you're going and support you.
03:06And if you're not getting it,
03:07maybe they can't be in your life.
03:09Really.
03:10What was the last thing you Googled?
03:12Oh, this is so narcissistic.
03:14I Googled getting images of myself
03:17from the Empire State Building.
03:19But look how cute that photo is with my
03:21taxi, my Kate Spade taxi bag.
03:23What was it like to walk the runway in London Fashion Week
03:27for Simply Be?
03:28It was really nice to be surrounded by women of all ages
03:32and women of color.
03:34You're a mom, you're a model, you're a body image activist.
03:38How do you just recharge from all of that?
03:41It's quite hard.
03:42I have a hard time relaxing.
03:44Part of the reason why my husband travels with me,
03:46we work together, but it's because he tends to be the only person
03:49that can get me to eat when I'm like so stressed.
03:53What's your favorite scent that's not a perfume or fragrance?
03:56Disneyland churros.
03:57That is true.
03:58That is true.
03:59That's a good smell.
04:00Disneyland churros, yeah.
04:02What advice would you give to someone who is struggling
04:04to kind of be comfortable in their own skin?
04:07Loving your body is a journey, not a destination.
04:09Just because I wrote a book about confidence
04:11doesn't mean that I feel good about myself 24-7
04:14and allowing myself to feel bad.
04:17What would be one thing that people would be surprised
04:20to know about you?
04:21I can be a bit shy, like people forget
04:23that I'm just a normal person.
04:24What's your favorite movie of all time?
04:26Probably Drop Dead Gorgeous or BAPS.
04:30Yeah.
04:30You're a woman after my own heart.
04:32I love BAPS.
04:33What's the one success that you're like truly proud of?
04:36Probably my book.
04:37I started it when my baby was just a few months old
04:40and it was really tough.
04:41But the overall message that I'm hoping people get from it
04:45is that it helps them and empowers them
04:47and makes them feel a little less alone in the world
04:49and that anything's possible.
