00:00I'm Elizabeth Lewis. I'm 28 years old and I'm getting a nose job. All my life I've
00:04kind of been picked on for being Lebanese. The peach fuzz, the unibrow, my
00:09hook nose, all the different attributes that kind of added to my Arabic features.
00:15I've really embraced all the imperfections that I've had since I was
00:19younger but one thing that I could never really get over was my hook nose.
00:22Whenever I was taking pictures I always tried to get either a straight on or
00:26from my good side. My nose is different, let's be honest. You look at pictures
00:31with my sister, you look at pictures with my mom, like where did it come from?
00:36It's the one feature on my face that really separates me from them. I've done
00:40a lot of research into it and I've actually looked into my surgeon a lot.
00:43That was one key factor with me when I found my surgeon was that one, he's
00:47actually Lebanese and two, he's from my hometown. So tell me what brings you in
00:52today. I want to get a nose job. I am not happy with the tip of my nose. I don't
00:58like the like extra bump that I have on my nose. What if it doesn't come out the
01:02way I want it to come out? It's like this is like a one-shot deal and like
01:07that's it. But at the same time I'd rather live with the fear going into it
01:11that like what if versus the regret of if I don't do this I'm still gonna be the
01:15same, I'm still gonna wake up unhappy. So I'm more willing to take the sleep and get
01:19it done rather than wait and just live in the what if.
01:23Hey guys totally a mixed bag of emotions. I've just been waiting for this moment
01:27for a really long time. It's been probably like five or six years since I've been
01:32taking this really seriously and so the fact that it's like here it's really
01:36kind of just like I don't know it's kind of crazy to me but it's gonna be
01:41really good. This is a drawing just to give you an idea of the shape of the nose
01:46that we plan. Okay does that look alright to you? Yeah I love it. Alright. I know I
01:50don't need to do this but I want to do this. I want to do this for me, I want
01:55to
01:55do this for my confidence, I want to do this for something when I wake up in the
01:58morning I love myself inside and out. Alright, all set. Any last minute questions?
02:05Not really. Not really? Yeah. Alright. I know you're a little bit nervous, it's normal.
02:09Alright, everything's gonna be just fine. So we'll see you in there in just a couple
02:12minutes, alright? Okay. Alright. Cool. So what I'm gonna do for Elizabeth is I'm
02:16going to take down the hump of her nose. She has a large over projecting hump in
02:22the middle of her nose. We're gonna take that down and make the dorsum of her
02:26nose look nice and straight. She also has a tip which tends to, it looks like it's
02:32going downwards a little bit and when she smiles it looks like it goes down even
02:35more and she doesn't like that. She wants her tip to come up a little bit so
02:40we're gonna fix that. I think a lot of people in my life are nervous about me
02:44doing this because not only is it surgery but I'm going under anesthesia. So it's
02:50like there's always that risk and there's always that like what if but I'm so
02:54happy and excited to feel more beautiful about myself.
02:59Hi guys, so this is day one of like post-surgery. I'm feeling pretty good
03:05physically and just like mentally. I'm just like, yes this has finally happened.
03:11So I made it to work. I look a little gnarly. I definitely, my swelling has gone up
03:18significantly like especially under my eyes and like just like my whole nose
03:25like right here is really swollen too. Yeah but other than that it's not bad. I
03:29definitely look really crazy though. My co-workers first reaction to my nose.
03:36Poor baby. I can't laugh. So today's the big day. It's been seven days since my
03:45surgery and I am just like all sorts of emotions right now. I've been waiting for
03:52this day for so long that I it's like surreal to me that it's finally here to
03:57like see what I've been dreaming of and what I've been like hoping of. I'm really
04:02excited for this next chapter of my life and it's gonna be good.
04:06All right, how you doing? Good. Good to see you. Good to see you too. You ready to get this
04:09off?
04:09Yes.
04:10All right.
04:18You want to see? Yes.
04:20Oh my god.
04:24It's awesome!
04:36It's awesome. I can't wait for more of the swelling to go down to like see what
04:42it's really going to look like. You know I've seen firsthand the way that changing
04:48the nose and making it more in harmony with the rest of the face can just
04:51totally change someone's self-esteem and the way they feel about themselves. I
04:56decided to share my story because I really wanted to help fight the stigma
04:59of what it means to have body positivity in terms of wanting to get any tweaking
05:05done, get any surgeries, things like that. It's not that I want to look like
05:09everyone else. Like normal is boring. I don't want to look like everyone else. I
05:13want to look more like my family and feel beautiful looking like my family.
05:17.
05:17.
05:17.
