00:17I'm dyeing my hair pink because this is cute, but it needs a little extra razzle-dazzle.
00:26I've already dyed my hair green, purple, orange, red, I've done blonde, and 30 shades of brown.
00:35The last color I need is pink.
00:38This is my first time getting my hair dyed at a professional hair salon.
00:43After dyeing my hair, I'm hoping to have a Cosmo and Wanda moment where I get spotted
00:48in the street with a friend that got green hair.
00:50I expect to feel refreshed, lively, just like that bitch, I mean.

01:11I am known for hair color and I'm also known for cutting curly hair.
01:15Before I put the pink on, I'm going to do some swatches of different color pinks so that
01:20you can kind of pick from those and see which one you really, really like.
01:23I'm excited.

01:27In this process, what I'm going to do is I'm going to mix a powder lightener with developer
01:33and apply it to her hair all over and she's going to sit with it for a while.
01:38I'm going to get Jess's hair to a pale yellow, which is about a level 10.
01:44I think this pink is going to look incredible on Jess.
01:47One, because I think that she has a daring and really spontaneous personality.
01:52She has beautiful eyebrows, beautiful facial structure.
01:56She has gorgeous hair.
01:57It's amazing short and I think that this is just going to be a real accent onto what she
02:03already has.
02:04I prefer my hair short because I feel like it brings out my features.
02:10I feel like having my big hair, it all got lost.
02:13I was mostly hair, not enough face.
02:16And now all you can see is my face.
02:19And I like to serve face.
02:22Cutting my hair short was always something I wanted to do.
02:25When I brought it up to my mom, she was so angry with me.
02:30Like she did not want to talk to me.
02:31Around my birthday, she was kind of salty still.
02:34And she was like, come, we're going to cut your hair.
02:37It took like hearing from other people that it looked great for her to be like,
02:41I mean, it is kind of cute.
02:43I guess I did do a good job.
02:45So dyeing it now is a whole nother story.
02:50So after I shampooed Jess, I'm going to put the Olaplex into her hair for about five minutes
02:56and let it sit there as a treatment before I tone her hair with the pink.
03:03I've pretty much laid out the different colored pinks that we have.
03:06So tell me which ones you like.
03:08Maybe somewhere in between this coral and this hot pink.
03:11Yeah, maybe we can mix them together and get some of that really strong pink saturation,
03:16but still some of the softness of the coral.
03:18I'd like that a lot.
03:19Alrighty, I think we got it.
03:25So now I'm going to use a special mix of pink and apply it to Jess's hair section by section,
03:33making sure that everything is fully saturated with color so that it comes out as vivid as possible.
03:39Jess is always welcome to come back maybe once a month for a color refresher,
03:43or she may want to watch it fade as it goes from a really saturated pink to a light pink
03:50to a baby pink to a very subtle mauve.
03:54I went to the Aveda Institute for Cosmetology about 12 years ago.
03:58I have a lot of art in me, so hair color is an extension that I've made into a professional
04:04career.
04:04Some of the things that I really love about being a salon owner is the ability to really help women
04:11discover and create a look for themselves that they love and they like.
04:15I think people are taking a lot more liberties with their hair and are very unafraid to walk around with
04:20things that they desire or have always fantasized about.
04:24The moment. The big reveal.
04:26Pretty in pink. Here we go.
04:31Oh my God. I'm pink.
04:44So the last thing that I'm going to do, it's molding the hair to your head.
04:48So I'm going to use a little wrap foam and then I'm going to use the oil that I make,
04:52which is a hair oil.
04:53So one is for styling and one is just for moisture.
04:57Just brush this down.
05:02I feel like a fairy thing.
05:05First of all, I love it.
05:07Second, this is brighter than I expected, but I think that's what I needed.
05:13I feel like my pink was a little too safe, but I love this.
05:18I love this gradient.
05:20It's subtle, but it's doing a thing.
05:23Outside of the salon for Jess in terms of maintaining her creative color, she can go to her local beauty
05:29supply store and find a color, a demi-permanent or semi-permanent, which is close to the color that she
05:36desired or that she got here.
05:38I can't wait to show my mom.
