00:02Wielding Peace is so important to me because Cameron was my brother.
00:06It was like his baby. It was his project.
00:10We had talked about it a lot before he passed.
00:14His face lit up, I swear, and he was like,
00:17I have this really cool idea. I really am excited about it.
00:22He just talked about how heartbroken he is about all the mass shootings
00:26and all the gun conversation.
00:29He really did want to do something about it,
00:32and he started talking about what if we talked about creativity
00:36and using expression as a weapon as opposed to actual violence.
00:41And he was talking about, you know, holding a guitar,
00:45like holding a paintbrush.
00:47And I just remember being like, yeah, hell yeah, that's a great idea.
00:55Wielding Peace to me is all about taking any sort of negativity,
01:01anything that is affecting you in a way that you wouldn't like it to,
01:06and putting it into something that makes you feel good
01:09and something that makes you feel positive and productive.
01:12People have to go through things that will make them angry,
01:15will make them sad, will make them upset.
01:16And I think it's really important to teach people how to use all of that feeling
01:22and put it into something that will be healing
01:25and not dangerous, not violent, no bursts of anger,
01:29just something that is productive and creative and fun.
01:35I chose a hair dryer, a blow dryer.
01:38It's ironic, though, because I don't use hair dryers.
01:41I chose it because I really do believe that putting on something you love
01:45or making your hair a certain way or doing your makeup a certain way
01:48is just such a fun and, like, important way to learn about yourself.
01:53I think the most rewarding part about this whole project
01:57is to carry on Cameron's activism, continuing what he started.
02:01He really enjoyed being an actor.
02:03He loved that it gave him a platform and somewhere to express his ideas,
02:07because there were people listening to him.
02:10He did have attention, and he thought,
02:11if I have all this attention, I'm going to use it for the better.
02:14I'm going to use it for my advantage,
02:16and I'm going to say what I want to say about love
02:19and positivity and creativity and expression.
02:21And unfortunately, I think after he died,
02:24that was the most eyes on him and on us as a family,
02:28which is backwards, I think.
02:30But now that we have all the attention,
02:32we're going to use it to our advantage
02:34and really tell people what he wanted to say and what we need to say.
02:38Young people must be vocal about gun violence,
02:42especially people my age.
02:44We're the next voters.
02:46We're the next lawmakers.
02:48And if people right now who are up at the top,
02:52the leaders of today, aren't really pushing for change,
02:56then we have to be the ones to push for change.
02:59We have to.
