00:07This is Ryan and Winston.
00:09And I'm Jess, and this is Dash.
00:11And welcome to our sweet digs in Tempe, Arizona.
00:14Our house is 1,900 square feet with three beds, two baths, and a backyard with a pool.
00:19We bought our home for about $313,000, which, honestly, for this area, it's a really good price.
00:28So after I graduated from grad school, we were looking for a house here back home in Arizona.
00:34And it just so happened that my cousin was moving to Georgia the exact same time we were coming home.
00:41And we needed a home, and it was in a great location at the perfect price for us.
00:46So when we bought the home from my cousin, the only thing we wanted to change is the interior
00:50because it was what I like to affectionately call Arizona chic.
00:54A lot of brown tile, a lot of brown tones.
00:56The walls are brown.
00:58Just a lot of those colors, but that's not what we were going for.
01:01The cool thing was we didn't have a whole lot of money, but our community from our church and family
01:06stepped up big time.
01:07The friend that set us up on our first date, he's a painter, and he painted our entire house for
01:12free.
01:13My aunt helped us get our floors at cost.
01:16Another family at the church saw that we were renovating and knew that Jess liked to host.
01:21And so they bought us our entire kitchen.
01:23It was crazy generous of them.
01:25And there are so many more that made this whole thing come together.
01:29You guys are our heroes.
01:31When you walk into our house, it's a fairly open concept with a giant U for our entertaining space.
01:38In our front room of our house, there's a couple pieces of furniture that are pretty special to me.
01:42One of them is our couch. I've had it since I was a sophomore in college.
01:46And then the chair in that room is my recliner, and I got it from my dad.
01:51Our main media room with our TV and our couch, we definitely wanted to get a comfy couch because we
01:57watch probably too much television.
01:59Way too much.
01:59I also love the bookshelves in that room.
02:02I spent a lot of time doing the gradient of color and making sure that everything faded correctly color-wise.
02:14So when we moved in, some of the other things that we did to kind of upgrade the space was
02:18painting our fireplace white.
02:20And then we also added a really cool chandelier over the dining room table.
02:25So we lived in Chicago for two years, and they were some of our sweetest memories.
02:29And so we wanted to bring back some of those things to Arizona.
02:33So one of the things we have is a dining room table from a cool boutique in Chicago.
02:37It is a live edge wood table, and it just has so many memories with it.
02:42And the other thing is we have a really beautiful raw iron outline of the Chicago city lights.
02:47We just love to have those pieces of Chicago in our Arizona home.
02:51So when we were laying out our home, we really wanted it to be one large flow.
02:56So as you walk in, you have an area to sit and gather and talk and just hang out.
03:02The layout of our home allows us to have a lot of functionality as we have fun.
03:07My favorite part of our home is our kitchen.
03:10I love cooking and I love hosting.
03:12And so the kitchen is where I spend the most of my time.
03:17I tend to think I have a decent eye for design, but Jess was actually the one that came up
03:21with the colors in our kitchen, having the white cabinets and the blue cabinets on the bottom.
03:26One of the other things about our kitchen that's special to us is how big it is, because in Chicago,
03:31our apartment was 450 square feet.
03:34So now we have a big, long 10 by 10 island.
03:39We also have a lot of space for my KitchenAid because I love to bake.
03:43We also chose a really cool herringbone style backslash tile.
03:47So it's white, but it's got a little bit of a shimmer to it.
03:51We just love being in our kitchen.
03:52So when we first did the walk here of the house, when we bought it, there were a bunch of
03:56hall closets.
03:57We decided to kind of close off some of those hall closets and then turn it into a walk-in
04:02pantry.
04:03So I know the home looks perfect and spotless and I worked very hard for it to look that way.
04:09But we all have that one room.
04:12I know you do.
04:13And for us, it's our office.
04:19The office has a desk in it that we sometimes work in, but also that's just where we put all
04:24of our extra things.
04:28It's really great that we have a guest room.
04:30One of the fun parts about that room is it was all donated to us.
04:33It's just great to have people to come visit us from around the United States.
04:39Our bedroom is a little bit more on the simple side.
04:42We're probably going to decorate it in the next year or so, but we've spent most of our time decorating
04:47the rest of our spaces in our home.
04:49But one of my favorite parts about our bedroom is our king-size bed.
04:52We joke that it's big enough that if we wanted to go visit the other person in the middle of
04:55the night, we'd need a passport.
04:59This is our master bathroom.
05:02It's got a sink and a standing shower and it's perfect for what we need.
05:07It's Arizona chic.
05:07We do not love our bathrooms.
05:09They are both functional, but they are just not our style or anything.
05:13For our backyard, we have a pool.
05:16We have a little grassy area.
05:18We have my little space where I have a garden.
05:22I've got some like fruits and veggies and some herbs and it's really fun for me to just on the
05:27weekends get to plant some things.
05:30And we've got a great grill where Ryan spends his time grilling chicken in the summertime.
05:34Oh yeah.
05:35So we have a pool and we love it.
05:37It's a diving pool.
05:38It goes down to about 12 feet at the deep end.
05:41And it's just great to have the family over.
05:43During quarantine, like the rest of you had to figure out what to do with my life.
05:47I took up woodworking and that's the table outside is all about.
05:50And then inside we got what is called a tonal.
05:53It's now our home gym.
05:54I mean, with the quarantine and everything, we can't go to the gym.
05:57And so we actually went and bought one.
06:00It's our splurge.

06:06So something that's really important to Ryan and I is doing life with people,
06:11having the ups and downs with strong relationships with friends and family.
06:16Our home is a place to do that.
06:18We love hosting and we love having people over.
