00:20The announcement followed a statement from the UAE Ministry of Defence
00:23which said air defences had detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran.
00:28The ministry later said the missiles had targeted maritime traffic
00:33and pledged a firm response to any threat against national security or regional navigation.
00:39Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the allegation as baseless
00:43with its spokesman Ismail Bagai suggested the incident could have been a false flag operation.
00:50He also said the UAE's claim went against the principles of good neighbourly relations
00:56and urged regional countries to avoid making unfounded accusations against Tehran.
