06:07A pleasant good day, Trinidad and Tobago.
06:10On the 10th of August, 2026, following information I received from the director
06:15of the Strategic Services Agency, as well as the head of special branch,
06:20I applied to the Minister of Homeland Security for five days of emergency leave
06:26to travel out of the jurisdiction.
06:28The Minister approved that application, and I subsequently was informed that the relevant
06:36correspondence was forwarded to the Police Service Commission.
06:39I wish to reassure you that I followed the requirements of the established process,
06:48and I breached no protocols or policies.
06:52I am aware of the public commentary surrounding my absence and the appointment of an acting
06:59commissioner.
07:00That process does not fall within the remit of the TTPS or the Commissioner of Police.
07:06It is governed by law and the appropriate authorities acting in accordance with their respective
07:12mandates.
07:13To those who chose to politicize the matter and attempted to manufacture scandal and back
07:20and all, all I will say is this.
07:24Your petticoat is showing.
07:27As to the reason for the emergency travel, well, they spread all kind of rumors.
07:32They say I fall sick.
07:33They say I went to investigate the people who were hiding money outside of the country.
07:38I even hear that I went with a list to get people visas revoked.
07:44This is something I am not at liberty to discuss.
07:48However, upon my return, I briefed the chairperson of the National Security Council and the Minister
07:57of Homeland Security, and any further inquiry may be so directed as I will not be commenting any further.
08:07As for those who felt that Rome was burning in my absence, I want to reassure you that the
08:14Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is an institution built on structure, continuity, and contingency.
08:24It has a robust hierarchical framework supported by competent executive officers who are fully
08:32capable of maintaining operational stability at all times.
08:37Leadership transitions, temporary or otherwise, are not a crisis.
08:43They are part of the organization's design.
08:47I remain focused on the safety of the nation, the integrity of the TTPS, and the responsibility
08:54is entrusted to me as Commissioner of Police.

09:05Well, the commissioner, you know, he made his statement, and I hope that the commentary is reduced.
09:14He has stated what he has stated, what transpired that caused him to take the emergency leave.
09:22So, we move on.

10:09ensured that the country remains safe, and that all our apparatus function as normal in the absence of the commissioner.
10:18This is not a one-man organization.
10:21Well, you spoke, and that is where we will leave it.
10:24And we move on.
10:25Yes, we are moving on, because today, I understand there were different bomb threats throughout the country,
10:30from Puerto Spain, Sangu Grandi, Chagornos.
10:33What is going on, ASP?
10:35Well, Ms. Husbands, the TTPS responded, and as a result of the response,
10:41I have an official media release dated today's date, 19th of August, 2026.
10:47TTPS responds to multiple bomb threats reports across Trinidad and Tobago.
10:52The Trinidad and Tobago police service confirms that seven reports of bomb threats were received through different mediums today.
11:02The reports concern the following locations.
11:05Arima Magistrates Court, Princess Town Magistrates Court, Chagornos Magistrates Court,
11:12Kent House, Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government,
11:16Superior Magistrates Court, Sangu Grandi Magistrates Court,
11:21a location in San Fernando, and the Val Park Shopping Plaza.
11:27The TTPS immediately activated the relevant security protocols,
11:33heightened its security posture,
11:35and deployed officers to conduct the necessary checks.
11:41Investigations into the reports are ongoing.
11:44Members of the public are advised to remain calm,
11:49avoid any affected areas where police operations are taking place,
11:53and comply with the directions of law enforcement personnel.
11:57Further information will be provided when it's appropriate.
12:02All right, and of course, the persons who are creating mischief unnecessarily,
12:08I'm sure with the information, the CVR will give us an update if anyone is apprehended.

16:10based on intelligence,

16:12close to certain roadways
16:13and arteries
16:13that are commonly
16:15or frequently traversed
16:17by members of the criminal,
16:19the criminal elements.
16:20So we have like,
16:21you know,
16:21let me say,
16:22just in a particular area
16:23where, you know,
16:24vehicles commit crimes
16:25in an area
16:25and they come down,
16:26we could cut them off.
16:27We create that visibility,
16:28not only there,
16:29but in the neighborhood.
16:31So we could get on top
16:33of emergent trends,
16:34bringing that more
16:35proactive approach
16:36to the functions
16:38of the officer
16:39in addition to which
16:40it eases reporting
16:42with respect
16:43to the neighborhoods
16:44because, you know,
16:45it's easier for them
16:46to access police
16:47to make a report
16:48should something happen
16:49in the neighborhood.
16:50So there are a lot of,
16:50there are four main pillars
16:52that the placement
16:54or the deploying
16:55of these police posts
16:57will center that around.
16:59And I'm asking the public
17:00to give the initiative
17:01some time
17:02so that it could work,
17:04so that it could be reassessed
17:06and tweaked
17:07when necessary
17:08for the improvement
17:09so that we could
17:10better serve the public.
17:11Now, ASP,
17:13the minister mentioned
17:14the old cameras
17:15on the post.
17:16I don't think
17:17that is something
17:17that should have been
17:18disclosed,
17:19but I guess transparency
17:21to a degree
