00:20This is the latest comment that we're getting in from Home Minister Amit Shah.
00:23He's saying that he was upset that there were only two standards being sung by Congress and now it will
00:29be mandatory to sing it at all government events.

01:34That was Amit Shah saying that he was upset.
01:37That the full rendition of the song was never sung and now he says that Vande Matram will be mandatory
01:43for all government events.
01:44Remember this is an escalation in the Rao which we've been seeing on the Vande Matram song.
01:49Because we've been seeing instances where Congress has been saying that it will only stick to the first two stanzas.
01:55Whereas BJP says that the full rendition of the song needs to be sung.
01:59And now Amit Shah is saying that Vande Matram was never accepted even after partition.
02:05He says that he's upset that the full song was never sung and he's now saying that it will be
02:09mandatory that the whole song be sung at all government events.
02:13We can even go back to the events that unfolded on 15th August when we saw that Congress did not
02:20sing the full song.
02:21And even after that we saw that there was escalation in the same Rao.

02:27Indrajit, now we're getting this comment from Amit Shah where he's saying that Vande Matram will now become mandatory at
02:32all government events.
02:34And we're already seeing so much drama happen between BJP and Congress over this song.
02:38Because Congress says they'll only stick to the first two stanzas.
02:41And now BJP is coming in and making it mandatory for all government events.
02:48Well, Jessica, it is in fact mandatory at all government events.
02:52In fact, after the change of regime here in West Bengal at least, at all government programs we do hear
02:59the full song of Vande Matram,
03:02the national song being played at all government events along with the national anthem.
03:06But this of course has taken a political turn.
03:07You would know that, you know, the Bengal BJP MLA, Sumitra Chattopadhyay, who is also a keen of Mankim Chandra
03:17Chattopadhyay's family member,
03:18he has shot off a letter to Sonia Gandhi registering the family's protest against what we saw at the Congress
03:27headquarters on Independence Day on 15th of August.
03:30So the Home Minister, who is on a two-day visit to West Bengal, it was but obvious that he
03:36would be raising this issue.
03:37And he has raised that issue once again, saying that this is a disrespect for the national song and for
03:42a national icon like Munkim Chandra Chattopadhyay.
03:46Now that it has been given that stature, it has been made mandatory, legislation has been passed in the parliament
03:52by the Modi government.
03:54And this of course comes 80 years after independence. So it has taken this many years for that acceptance.
04:01And yet the opposition, the Congress party has stated that they are not inclined to sing the entire song.
04:07They have certain reservations.
04:09But the BJP of course upping the ante, hitting out and that's in line with what Amit Shah has just
04:15said in North Bengal today.
04:17Right, so that's the statement that we've gotten from Amit Shah when he was in West Bengal.
04:22And he's again escalated the one-day matram row saying that he's upset that the full song was never sung
04:28and it's now mandatory in a lot of government events that we've seen so far as well.
