00:00Cincinnati Reds have had a really tough time scoring runs.
00:03It's a very peculiar situation to me, Tom.
00:05I'm not sure what is going on with them this season.
00:08They've been shut out and shut out and shut out again.
00:11But they had such a great performance Saturday night.
00:14Maybe this is a spark plug.
00:15J.J. Bladet, who has bounced around a little bit from Miami to the A's and now to the Cincinnati
00:20Reds,
00:21hits the Reds' first cycle of the season on Saturday.
00:25What a great night for him.
00:26He caps the cycle off late Saturday night with a home run.
00:30Bladet's had a nice season, predominantly dominating right-handed pitchers.
00:35And when he sees lefties, either he's not in the lineup or it's not certainly the same,
00:39which is kind of the story of baseball these days.
00:41Lefty, lefty, righty, righty matchups, et cetera.
00:43But great moment for J.J. Bladet, who seemingly has earned himself probably another look in the big leagues next
00:49year.
00:50And, you know, kind of tough to bounce around as much as he has here.
00:52But certainly maybe he's found a home in Cincinnati.
00:55Yeah, you would like to think that he's found a spot where he can stay.
00:59You know, I have him on a fantasy team, so it's nice to get this production late in the season.
01:04And really, to your point about the Reds' lineup overall, when you look at it on paper,
01:08we, and especially where they play at home, you know, we should be expecting or should have expected a lot
01:13more offensive production from them.
01:15And I know Ellie missed some time.
01:17But really, when you have a player like Sal Stewart, who is up there with the league lead in RBIs,
01:22you know,
01:22they need some other power alongside him.
01:25It can't just be him and Ellie.
01:26And Bladet is maybe one of those missing pieces.
01:28But then it comes down to the health of, you know, Matt McClain.
01:32And then what we're getting from the rest of the outfielders.
01:34And we're getting from the rest of the infield when they can't go as consistent production.
01:37So I had higher hopes for the Reds, but they need to make a few tweaks in the offseason.
01:44Yeah, it's absolutely true that you look at their lineup and you think there's no way this team should get
01:49shut out on, you know,
01:50every other night basis, basically.
01:52The Cardinals were shutting them out.
01:53The Marlins took care of them.
01:54Just a very strange team.
01:56And I got to tell you, Terry Francona, to me also, watching that, I kind of wonder what his future
02:00is, too, as well.
02:01If he's going to be back again with the Reds next season, I guess we'll just have to wait and
02:05see.
