00:11Well, I think you've got to use his attributes
00:14and you've got to move the pocket because he's not very big.
00:17You know, he doesn't like playing in that pocket.
00:18He can't see.
00:19I mean, not very big.
00:20I mean, I had him in the Under Armour All-American game.
00:22I remember when he came out of high school
00:23and was getting ready to go to college.
00:25But a tremendous talent can make all the throws.
00:28So you've got to move the pocket.
00:30You've got to do a lot of things.
00:31Now, getting him to play under center sometimes is difficult
00:35because any play action, you know,
00:37he's got to turn his way away from the defense
00:39and then he's got to set up in the middle of the field.
00:42Well, sometimes he can't see the rush.
00:43That's why he likes in the gun a little bit more
00:46so he can see things.
00:47So you spread people out.
00:49He makes good decisions with the ball.
00:51And defensively, you're scared to death because he's quick.
00:55He can make yards with his legs.
00:57So you have to contain him.
00:59You've got to keep him in the pocket.
01:00You can't run by him because if you do, he'll dip around the edge
01:04and he'll get on the edge and he'll either throw it or run it.
01:06So he's a dual-threat quarterback.
01:09Coach, for you, you just said something.
01:11I've asked numerous coaches this.
01:13There are certain coaches that don't want any quarterback
01:15under 6'2", playing for them,
01:18just with the fact of what you just said.
01:21And with more of the dual-threat guys coming out of college,
01:24we see the kids out of Alabama, Jalen Hurts.
01:27A lot of these guys are about 6'6", 6'1".
01:30Again, we're seeing more of that type of player.
01:33Do you think that there is something to that?
01:35Because I know Breeze came up with the nine-step drop instead
01:39so he could see over it a little bit more,
01:41created passing lanes by sliding laterally.
01:44How would you coach that guy?
01:46Or do you have a priority that you don't want a quarterback under 6'2"?
01:51Well, you like them a little bit bigger,
01:53but you also like the guys that can win.
01:56That's kind of important.
01:57And winning is winning, whether you're 6'5", or 6'2".
02:00If you can win.
02:01Right on.
02:01And, you know, and he, to me,
02:06the quarterback has to have a presence in the huddle.
02:09And he's got to earn the trust of the players,
02:13and the players got to believe, okay, this is the last possession.
02:17We need to go down the field and score.
02:18They trust this guy.
02:20He got to earn that now.
02:21I always, you know, what I used to do with young quarterbacks,
02:24when they went into the huddle, I would go in the huddle with them.
02:27I wanted to hear them.
02:29I wanted to hear how they talked to the team.
02:33Situational football.
02:35Because to me, that was more important than anything.
02:37His height, how hard he could throw, it didn't matter.
02:40How do you communicate it?
02:42How do you look at these guys in the face?
02:44An old 10-year vet, right guard over there,
02:46and a nine-year tackle that's been...
02:48How you going to look that old man in the face and convince him,
02:51hey, guys, we're going to get ready to go down the field.
02:53We're going to score here.
02:54Because that's what the great ones do.
02:56They walk in the huddle, and everybody goes, okay, it's time.
