00:35what's up guys this is Leon from unprocessed today we are in Chicago at

00:39bottom lounge and I'll show you around my kit today first off we have a new album

00:43out called angel currently touring it through the United States and Europe later

00:47this year so check it out if you like much appreciate it let's get into it I'm

00:53proudly endorsing Tama drums so I'm playing a Tama star classic maple on this

00:58tour beautiful finish and the sizes is 12 by 8 I believe 16 by 16 and 18 by 16

01:05for the toms 22 by 16 for the kick and then this is also a maple snare 14 by 6

01:13and a half with this kit and on my left side here I have the 12 inch Tama melody

01:19snare which is a signature by Mike Fortnoy amazing sir sounds super well love

01:25it punchy pingy all the things I like so this setup is a rental kit for this tour

01:31it's basically one-on-one what I play in Europe besides the the finish and this

01:37one here but I'll get I'll get that one in Europe as well because I like it so

01:40much so yeah I'm pretty much at home here just different colors and these are my

01:46symbols I flew them because they're quite specific but I'll get into that in a

01:50moment in terms of heads I'm using all Evans heads super lucky to be partnered

01:54with this company for a while now they've been supporting me amazingly throughout

01:58all the tours and yeah I'm rocking UV twos on the toms coated heads on the snare

02:04is the UV one reverse dot single ply head allows me to get more low end in

02:09higher tunings and a bit more overtones so it cuts through the mix nicely over

02:14here on the side so I have a G2 that was just stock on that when I got it from

02:18the

02:18rental but it sounds great so I'm not changing it and on the kick I have email

02:23to clear at the moment and that can be switched out with the email coated if I

02:27like so no real preference here as long as it's thumping and for resos usually I

02:33just use G1 clears for the toms and hazy 300 for the snare so on on the past

02:41tours this year I added the 12 inch snare because we have one song called Solera that

02:46has like a break beats type intro and repeats throughout the song and actually

02:51my drum tech max kind of gaslighted me into adding this there because I'm

02:57usually like I want to have as little stuff as possible which kind of didn't

03:02work out if you look at this kid but anyways he he made me take it and add it

03:07and I'm very happy about it because it's such a cool addition new toy to play with and

03:15yeah just makes the the song much better in my opinion so in terms of tuning the

03:21kick is rather loose I would say like half a turn after finger tight so you get

03:26a good bloom and low end I always do that to try to get the shell to actually

03:30resonate with the head because when it's like just finger tight I feel like it's

03:34just like a plastic ball hitting a piece of paper and I feel like we get much more

03:39low end out of the kick if we do that same goes for the toms the better hat is

03:46like a third major or minor third below the rezzo head so that way I get like a

03:52punchy throw and I can control the sustain and it kind of differs on which

03:58heads we're using we were using G2s before and we swapped out for UV2s and that

04:05relation changed a bit but give or take a third above for the rezzo head so I can

04:10like really make a control sustain and kind of have them even throughout the

04:15throughout the setup with snare I think the fundamental for this one is at 220

04:23something and the rezzo is cranked so I get good ghost notes yeah good feeling and

04:28then as I said with the single play head I get the low end back a bit and it

04:33works well with maple in Europe I have aluminum snare works fantastically with

04:37that so yeah I can really recommend this head and then for here I don't know any

04:42specific range we just crank it so it almost sense that sounds like a Timbala

04:46in a way but with snare wires so pretty high super tight on the bottom for ghost

04:53notes yeah that's basically it listen in the room and see what you get I'm

04:59endorsed by manual as well great company they've been supporting me for the

05:03past years on all the tours as well and whenever if something breaks within two

05:07days I have a replacement so thank you manual for the great support and I'll

05:12show you what I have here well start with a cracked symbol because this is the

05:1718 inch extra hammered trash crash from the pure LR series there's a replacement

05:22underway for that at the moment then I go to the 18 inch extra hammered also from

05:27pure LR series they used to make great pair for like accenting and playing melodies in

05:33this area of the drum set so yeah moving on to hats I'm playing 15 inch polyphonic

05:39hats love them to death washy crispy good pedal hat sounds just what I need over here I have

05:47the 10 inch temporal stack to signature model by Matt guards car just a small

05:53accident thing on my way to the splash which is a testics custom dual splash in

05:5910 inch so yeah that concludes the left side over to the right side I'm playing a

06:0522 inch dark ride very defined crispy stick attack good bell cuts through the mix

06:12through dense guitars and loads of bass yeah up top I have a 21 inch double down

06:18crash right by Matt Halper another signature model I use it for big

06:23choruses or as an accent crash yeah then over here at the moment there is a 20 inch

06:29polyphonic crash I swap it out with the 20 inch jazz medium thin from the Bison series

06:36depending on what I like or depending on what I have but right now it's the

06:42polyphonic big stack over here is the fat stack also met Garska signature model

06:46been playing it for years perfect sound for me almost like a big trashy

06:50auxiliary hat because I have it like very loose and yeah over here 18 inspired 18

06:57inch Bison's China brilliant version today also have a traditional version but that

07:03one's cracked and awaiting replacement with sticks I'm with Promark and since

07:09they release the long versions of their sticks I'm playing the 5a long rebound

07:14gives me good reach for everywhere good stick control good ghost notes teardrop head for

07:20smack on the toms and that's pretty much it with sticks that's all I use plenty of

07:25them and they hold up forever all right I usually don't break any in a 75 minute

07:30show so that goes to say quality is very good hardware and pedals is all Tama as well

07:37I'm playing iron Cobra double pedals power glides I think just to have that bit more ramp up for when

07:47the when the beater actually get goes to the head same goes with the hi-hat iron Cobra

07:54trusted standard from Tama works everywhere is amazing all the mics then all those symbols then

08:00there's also Tama road pro in difference different variations small attachments everywhere for for

08:08all the little symbols and for the crash over here it is an attachment so that's basically it Tama all

08:14the way we are rocking RH acoustics in ears with unprocessed and I have two pairs of molded in ears

08:22so

08:23this one is shiny like a faceplate like that and the ones I have here right now are a bit

08:29more

08:31customized like a logo and my signature on it and they sound fantastic the dampening is fantastic up

08:39to I think 28 29 DB so I can really as a drummer really hear what you're playing through the

08:45ears

08:45which I really like it a very punchy sound they fit amazingly they hold up amazingly and they've been

08:51a good partner for us since this year actually so that's what we're rocking on in ears on snare we

08:58have a trigger for gates so basically it opens the noise gate and with the physical distance between

09:03the head and the microphone it's kind of like a physical look ahead in a way so you actually

09:09trigger everything and it doesn't get opened by the kick drum so that's what we're doing on snare

09:14and we plan to expand it on all the all the shells but nothing for triggering just

09:21gaming so this is just a rental throne any time of phone in Europe I have a first chair with

09:27like

09:27the saddle top which is very comfy enables me to sit for long times and feel like very balanced

09:33which is super important for a double bass playing oh yeah that's it I'll get this one eventually in
