Over RM720mil spent on welfare aid for seniors, PwD, chronic patients, says Nancy

The Social Welfare Department has spent about RM728.5mil to support the welfare of senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PwD) and chronic patients nationwide as of June this year.  Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the allocation was channelled through the Senior Citizen Assistance (BWE) and the Assistance for Care of Bedridden Persons with Disabilities and Bedridden Chronic Patients (BPT). 01:31Nancy stressed the importance of strengthening the care ecosystem, with Spectrum providing caregivers training, psychosocial support and motivation to care

01:41for others while safeguarding their own well-being.
