00:00Venezuela's Latin President Darcy Rodriguez and Barbados Prime Minister Mia Motley visited
00:04the field hospital run by barbarians specialists to care for survivors of the twin earthquake
00:09that hit Venezuela on June 24th.
00:12Our correspondent Luis Alberto Matos brings more information.
00:17Greetings to you.
00:18We are standing here in the field hospital that was provided by Barbados after the twin
00:22earthquake of last June that brought so much devastation.
00:26Well, the news here today is that the Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Motley, as well
00:30accompanied by the acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Darcy Rodriguez,
00:35visited the hospital.
00:36They were able to walk around and see the work that was being done, everything, all the support
00:41that the Barbadian Brigade that has been working here has provided for the Venezuelan people.
00:45We were listening to the heads of states providing information, official figures, saying that over
00:502,700 patients have been treated at this field hospital, and many dozen surgeries have taken
00:56place in this area as well in this field hospital, providing that support for the Venezuelan people
01:01after the tragedy of last June with the twin earthquake.
01:04This is just one clear example of the ongoing strengthening and growing cooperation that exists
01:09between the two very tight, friendly countries, as the Prime Minister of Barbados was describing.
01:15They are both two nations that are very close together in terms of geography, and that they
01:19should not let anything come in between the relationship, no language, nor history.
01:24And regarding language, this is one of the subjects that was touched while they were offering statements
01:29to the press regarding the exchange of teachers, of professors, so that language stopped being
01:34a barrier between both peoples.
01:36So the idea, the Prime Minister said, that they expect by January 2027 to have a concrete plan
01:43to have teachers from Barbados come to Venezuela to teach English, and teachers from Venezuela
01:48to go to Barbados to teach Spanish to the people of Barbados.
01:53They want this to go beyond just an exchange of language.
01:56They want it also to be an exchange of work experiences, so that people, for example, that
02:00are no longer in school years, that they already exited the school system, can also benefit
02:06from this kind of exchange.
02:07People in different work fields, engineers, doctors, different fields of work, they can
02:13also become bilingual, be more prepared in their work career, and both nations be more
02:19prepared in their development.
02:21And education, teaching languages was only one of the points.
02:24Food is a very key structure that was provided.
02:27The Prime Minister, as well as the acting president, Alex Rodriguez, were referring to the importance
02:31of food security and food sovereignty for both Barbados and for Venezuela, but for also
02:36both nations become a hub of experts as well of food products, of healthy, high-quality
02:41food products.
02:41So the idea, we must recall that back in April, the acting president visited Barbados, and they
02:46already set the groundwork for an agreement so that Barbados food, so food from Barbados
02:53will be produced on Venezuelan soil in a way to enrich and make it more stable and make
02:58it more sustainable, especially in the current context of difficulties in supply chains, guaranteeing
03:03food sovereignty for both nations and also for the region.
03:06It's also an example of the growing relationship between, as we were saying, between the two
03:09nations.
03:10They continue to grow in their relationship and strengthening their bonds of cooperation,
03:13something that was highlighted that the most important thing to do in mature politics,
03:18as the Prime Minister of Avedo described it, is to, even though there is some kind of
03:22misunderstanding, because there's moments that people don't always understand itself, but
03:27they know they have a responsibility to do what's best for their people and the guarantee
03:32of the welfare for the people is what must come as the priority.
03:36The acting president of Venezuela was announcing that a joint declaration was signed, so all
03:41the framework, all the work is being laid to continue to build from that and to continue
03:45to strengthen all the different fieldwork that are going to be happening in the coming
03:50months and years between Barbados and Venezuela.
03:53This is the information we have from the field hospital here in Guadena.
03:57We will have more information, so stay with Telestore English, for everything that has to do
04:00with this official visit of the Prime Minister of Avedo, Mia Moore Motley, here in Caracas,
04:06Venezuela.
