00:00The haters are my food now.
00:02Like I told my kids, never let nobody control how your day's going to go.
00:06Now, back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:11All right, it's time for the crossover brought to you by Bay Alarm.
00:14Rest easy.
00:15We've got you covered.
00:17Bayalarm.com.
00:18Evan Giddings, in for Matt Stein, Mr. Oleg Guru,
00:20Johnston, Mark Willard, Dan Dibley.
00:22What's going on, fellas?
00:23Yep, happy hump day.
00:24Dan Stribbley.
00:26Yeah.
00:26I'll give you a three.
00:27That's pretty good.
00:28We changed his name yesterday.
00:29Yeah.
00:29Dan Stribbley.
00:30It's strategic.
00:31Right?
00:31I think it'll help his brand.
00:32And we actually talked yesterday, if he has a 10-catch game,
00:35I'm going to the courthouse and changing it legally.
00:38It'll be Dan Stribbley.
00:39Well, that also probably means that the boss would just say,
00:41well, you had 10 catches because, you know,
00:43you're basically set up to do that,
00:45and the defense just sort of laid off to you.
00:47And you could probably be crisp on your routes and stuff,
00:49and, you know, you probably should be better and stuff.
00:51Are you trying to do a Kyle Shanahan impersonation
00:54right in front of Dan Stribbley?
00:55It was pretty good.
00:56That is racy.
00:57He was all right.
00:58Very, very forward.
01:00He was about three oms away,
01:01and honestly, like, not quite monotone enough and stuff.
01:05But that was okay.
01:07I just found out the man has in his pocket a Willard impression
01:11and did it on the fly.
01:14And I told on air that I'm going to have you do it in front of Mark.
01:18You got dibs.
01:20Just get ready.
01:20It wasn't an impression as much as it was just the response that I felt like.
01:26Oh, yesterday.
01:27No, no, no.
01:27It wasn't from yesterday.
01:28You were just mad.
01:30No, what?
01:31Yeah, okay.
01:31What was it?
01:32No, actually, it was you were mad when I asked you if you cling to youth,
01:36and you're like, no.
01:38No, I don't cling to youth.
01:41You asked me if I cling to youth?
01:42Well, you clearly don't because you don't remember.
01:44It's a couple weeks ago.
01:45That's a good point.
01:45Yeah.
01:46Good point.
01:46No, it wasn't an impression.
01:48It was just a response.
01:49Well, I had fun with it.
01:50I know.
01:51Before we get to sports, can I just tell you what Goose brought to the table?
01:55A third person.
01:56You bring a lot to the table.
01:57The best hamburger in the States is the Baconator from Wendy's,
02:02and I said what I said,
02:03and I would just like to know you're number one and you're number one
02:06when you used to partake in the burgers.
02:09Well, I'm back partaking.
02:11Oh, you're back.
02:12I've been back.
02:13What's the you still?
02:14I mean.
02:15He went vegan for 30 years.
02:18Right, you, you.
02:19Oh, you're vegan for 30 years?
02:20Not vegan, but, you know, vegetarian for 30.
02:23Yeah.
02:24Clean 30.
02:25Yeah.
02:25Shut up, Steph.
02:26That's why he's so angry.
02:27Give me a shit first.
02:29First of all, I'm not that angry.
02:30If you want angry, talk about the Dodger owner,
02:34and you'll get angry from this guy.
02:37That's angry.
02:38Coming up at 4 o'clock.
02:39An extra $80 million a year.
02:42It's so tiny for me from wheel.
02:44I don't even care about the owner.
02:45I just want Dodger fans to eat it.
02:48Oh, there you go.
02:49Take your braggy braggy, shove it in your hip pocket.
02:52I don't think they're winning it.
02:54I don't care if they win it.
02:55They may win it again, but stop telling everybody, well, our owner's amazing, and don't you wish
03:02you had our owner?
03:03She did it the whole time.
03:04And we would have won eight in a row if it weren't for those mean Astros, those mean Astros
03:09who do things that are under the table.
03:11Eat it, Dodger fan.
03:13You're dirty.
03:14Everybody's dirty.
03:15Just eat it.
03:16Admit it.
03:17Take a playoff.
03:19That's my take.
03:20There it is.
03:20Anyway.
03:21Yeah, that's angry.
03:22Yeah.
03:22Give me the burger.
03:23And that's coming up.
03:24It's not Wendy's.
03:25Wendy's is like the James Madison of burgers.
03:28Well, it's my burger.
03:29That's pretty good.
03:31That's a really good take.
03:32Like it got invited to the championship, but it shouldn't have?
03:34Right.
03:35I mean, the Wendy's burger is like the 12 seed.
03:37That patty is mean, dude.
03:38I mean, maybe you won the, I don't know if it's the fast food bracket.
03:42Like, okay, the mid-major bracket.
03:44Are they still doing square burgers?
03:46Yeah.
03:46Somebody reminded me.
03:48It's not a patty.
03:48I thought you meant the actual president, not the school.
03:51Dude.
03:51Which was still a good comparison.
03:53That always bothered me.
03:54Just make a square bun if you're going to make a square burger.
03:57It is real meat.
03:58I don't have corners flying out the sides of the burger.
04:00Where's Willard's number one burger at?
04:02Oh, my God.
04:03Are we talking fast food?
04:05Yeah, just in general.
04:06Just in general.
04:06After he came up with, good Lord.
04:08The Culver's butter burger to me is elite.
04:11Supermarket dibs.
04:13It's not a supermarket.
04:14It's a fast food chain in the Midwest.
04:16You get a live in an undisclosed location.
04:18The other place that did was a supermarket to me.
04:20That's pretty new, Janum's Market, the one in Petrero Hill.
04:23Well, that was for the local guys and gals.
04:26It's like a Royale with cheese.
04:28So you don't have one.
04:28It's okay.
04:29Thank you, Samuel L. Jackson.
04:31I'm like 25.
04:32Yeah.
04:33No, don't take that silence as like, I don't have one.
04:36I'm trying to work my way.
04:38Yeah.
04:39That is true.
04:40The time of day does depend or state of mind does kind of factor into how good the burger
04:45can be.
04:46If you're doing quick burgers, to me, the most underrated that I think more people should
04:50talk about in this conversation is the habit.
04:52But that's what Kenny said, and they make a damn good burger.
04:55Not Wendy's.
04:56They rock this thing, and their burgers are round, which I appreciate.
05:01Gosh, as far as outside of that, there's a restaurant in Mill Valley called Bungalow 44
05:08that has a jamming burger.
05:11Jamming burger.
05:12There it is.
05:12Yeah.
05:13Got that out the way.
05:14There's a bunch of those.
05:15People are saying for as much of a culinary artiste as you argue, your favorite pizza
05:20is Round Table and your favorite burger is from Wendy's.
05:22I'm simple.
05:24Some would say we know.
05:25I appreciate that.
05:26Yeah.
05:27I appreciate that.
05:28Round Table.
05:29Is the last honest pizza.
05:30It is incredible.
05:32I've been to Chicago, New York chasing pizza.
05:35Be careful.
05:35Round Table is special, man.
05:37That's great.
05:37It just is.
05:39I'm just so good.
05:41I'm getting excited.
05:43I love Round Table.
05:44Sometimes they charge you $64 for a pizza.
05:47It is expensive.
05:47I'm like, what happened?
05:48I thought I was here to get a pizza.
05:50And they're like, yeah, that'd be $64.72.
05:53It is high.
05:53I'm like, what the hell just happened?
05:55But okay.
05:55All right.
05:56I mean, what is not $64.72 anymore?
05:59Like, I was trying to get.
06:00Domino's.
06:01Well, I was trying to get lunch yesterday here in the city.
06:03A Niner's receiver.
06:03You know, I'm looking at it like trying to figure out what I'm going to get.
06:06And it's like, oh, yeah, that sounds good.
06:09And that's going to be like $27 for a this and that.
06:12Or you go there, it's going to be $19 plus tip.
06:15And, you know, plus we got to pay the people for their health care.
06:18And I love that.
06:19And it's all a fee that I'm willing to pay.
06:21But if you come in the city, like, it's hard to get lunch for under $20 anymore.
06:27Those days are over.
06:28Over.
06:29Right.
06:30Yeah.
06:30Well, that's.
06:31Yeah.
06:31But you guys bring food to the office.
06:32Yeah, you got to bring it.
06:33He does.
06:34I always bring it.
06:35Yeah.
06:35I got you.
06:35Well, OK, so it was something we were talking about before you came in.
06:40Goo believes that it is.
06:42And I'm not saying he's wrong.
06:43I just think it's different.
06:44That the introduction of social media has made the pressure on athletes nowadays much
06:52more difficult than, say, 20, 30 years.
06:55Just prior generations.
06:56And the whole spectrum coaches everything.
06:58No matter what.
06:59If you're an actor.
07:00There's always a camera.
07:01People are always talking about you.
07:02It's powerful.
07:03It's tougher.
07:04I buy that.
07:04I sort of feel like that for all human beings.
07:08That's what I said.
07:09Go to a high school.
07:10The anxiety is absolutely off the charts because that's what everybody is staring at all day
07:17long and comparing themselves and dealing with people's responses to how they look and
07:23all.
07:23It's really rough.
07:25Wow.
07:25I think.
07:26But yeah, to your point on the sports angle, you know where my mind goes on that?
07:30That's always a nod I've given.
07:32And I don't like doing the debate anymore.
07:34None of us do.
07:35It's too played out.
07:36But the whole LeBron MJ thing.
07:38One thing I always enter into that conversation is that LeBron played with social media and
07:42Michael didn't.
07:43And I think that that's a significant difference.
07:48I mean, Michael, actually, he kind of got into the early days of it when, you know, the thing
07:53happened with his dad and it was, you know, it was more not social media, but it was more
07:58about being around the Inquirer or whatever it was.
08:01And so like the media attention was starting to ratchet up.
08:04And so I do think that it's kind of both ways where LeBron James, yes, he's much more of
08:10a victim of the era, but he's also able to weaponize it.
08:14And like Steph Curry, he's able to go to China and have, you know, his brand and Klay Thompson,
08:22the same thing.
08:23And like, you're able to globalize and be much more of a presence based on social media.
08:28They've both built shows on social media.
08:30I mean, LeBron and golf are completely right now, our knowledge of it is completely and
08:38totally through social media.
08:39And doesn't he have, I think a show where he had YouTube channel now just started and
08:43he brought the Cavalier championship team out there on the golf course and they all had
08:47a competition and yeah, that's, I mean, so I just, to me, it's a significant difference.
08:52I always felt like when LeBron got into the playoffs, his legacy was debated after every
08:57possession, like literally everybody, if he turned the ball over, it's like, see, he
09:02not MJ.
09:03They're like, well, wait a minute.
09:05I mean, with social media saying that, which it doesn't sleep.
09:08That's what I was just trying to tell you.
09:09You have to learn to, but yeah, but Evan broke down back in the past.
09:13They had that, but it was papers.
09:14It went to bed, but now it's just, I just feel like we're conditioned no matter what
09:20arrow we're in to deal with whatever the media coverage is like, no offense.
09:25Like to you guys, it sounds weird to be sometimes covered every single day or talked about every
09:31single day because like you didn't grow up with that in middle school or high school.
09:34Like just people tweeting about you or instant messaging, whatever it is.
09:39Whereas I'm not saying kids don't have more anxiety nowadays because they're exposed to
09:43more, but they're also going to be better prepared to deal with it when they grow up because
09:47they're conditioned by it.
09:48I think it's the same for athletes.
09:49Like I don't take away, uh, I don't take away respect from guys that handle it poorly
09:56as much as I will give more respect to those that handle it with grace.
10:02Like Steph to me is one of one because he is in a generation where social media drives
10:07everything in sports and yet it doesn't bother him.
10:10Like he's the outlier.
10:12He's the exception to the rule.
10:13And that's why to me, he deserves to be given a lot of credit for that.
10:17You know, that's true.
10:19And I also think that, you know, athletes especially have to comport themselves differently
10:23now, as opposed to, you know, in the magic Johnson era where, you know, the stories
10:28are that magic would finish a game and like, you know, shake hands and then go back to
10:32his own private magic would have his, that's why he always had a smile.
10:37Right.
10:38So, I mean, he would have his post game moments and now it's like, okay, there's a cooling
10:42off period.
10:43And then there's this and there's that and whatever, but everything now is scrutinized, whether
10:47it's, you know, Chris Paul trying to like sneak through the tunnel and like fight somebody
10:52in an arena or, you know, Draymond Green in a podcast.
10:56Funny you brought that up.
10:57So I heard, I don't know if you guys have heard the story.
11:00That wasn't the first time that tunnel had been used at Staples.
11:04And one of the teams that used that tunnel was the Golden State Warriors.
11:10Wait, back up.
11:11What's the story?
11:12So remember the tunnel?
11:13Remember Chris Paul, it was a Clippers Rockets.
11:17I don't know if it was a playoff series or a regular season game.
11:19They got in a fight.
11:19Chris Paul used this, you know, supposed secret tunnel that connects the locker rooms
11:24to go and get it.
11:26James Harden or whoever it was.
11:29What I heard is that when the Warriors were playing the Clippers in the 2014 playoffs, that
11:35there was also a similar, and it wasn't discussed, yeah, the similar dust up.
11:40And there were two guys that led the charge on the Warriors.
11:43One of them was Jermaine O'Neal and the other was Steph Curry.
11:49Wow.
11:50So he's the real Chris Paul.
11:53Essentially.
11:54The original Chris Paul.
11:57Yeah, he stole his ankles and then stole his tongue.
11:59Yeah.
11:59Wow.
12:00I feel like I need a therapist because Evan came up with a wonderful idea and we paid
12:06homage, what, 10 years of Kaepernick kneeling?
12:08Yep.
12:08And it's just fascinating when you just take a step back on sports life, on how people,
12:14they pop and then he goes away.
12:16And I just want to ask you to, I mean, Kaep, I'll never forget, unforgettable, the kissing
12:21of the biceps.
12:23He was a star.
12:25What happened to his play?
12:27And do you think the kneeling was what happens to his play?
12:29Because I know it subsided before that drama popped off.
12:33But how often do you see a dude take a team to the Super Bowl, do what he did in
12:38the
12:38offs, and then just kind of just be gone?
12:42I think it's twofold.
12:43I think when you become that big of a talking point in the public space for something that
12:49is sort of, I guess, not sports, that's a lot.
12:52That's a lot to deal with.
12:54Like, has anyone thought about this?
12:55And please, before you get mad, I'm not comparing the two people.
12:58Right.
12:59Not even a little bit.
13:00I'm a big fan of Colin Kaepernick.
13:02But why can't Deshaun Watson throw a football anymore?
13:05I think I know why.
13:06Okay, why?
13:07He can't handle the scrutiny.
13:08There you go.
13:09And you did it to yourself.
13:11And what Colin dealt with was probably five times the size of what Deshaun is dealing with.
13:17Like, Fox News is talking about you nightly.
13:20You can't go to practice without Fox and CNN having an argument in the parking lot.
13:25I just think that's a lot.
13:27But then there's a football side to it, too, which is every time something pops in a league,
13:33they make an adjustment.
13:35Everybody goes to the lab and tries to figure you out.
13:37And so they went in there and tried to figure the read option out.
13:41And sometimes a player doesn't have, you know, that adjustment pitch to throw when they figure it out.
13:47Real quick, do you think it was fair that he got robbed of him making his adjustment to the adjustment?
13:53Like, it was just the time it was over.
13:55I think he had a chance, but during that chance, all this other stuff is going on.
14:00And that's a lot.
14:02Yeah.
14:03That's a lot.
14:03And I love what Steve Weiss said earlier about that.
14:06Like, all the quarterbacks who got jobs during that year.
14:08That's when you knew something was up.
14:09And, you know, he was still out there and all these bums who got jobs beyond that.
14:14But I do think that it goes back to my core point about quarterbacks, where you look at a quarterback
14:20and you have to look at the quarterback and who they had.
14:22So Kaepernick had Harbaugh and they go eight and eight.
14:26And then Harbaugh, you know, goes after Jed York over a bathroom or get out of this room.
14:31You're not a real man.
14:32And he gets fired.
14:33And then Kaepernick gets Jim Tomsula.
14:36And then they don't do well.
14:37And then he gets Chip Kelly and he goes one in 11 as a starter.
14:42And so during all that was when he was kneeling and the rest of it.
14:45But I do think the narrative changes if he had, I don't know, Shanahan or, you know, LeFleur or McVay.
14:52And so I look at, I put aside what he did, Neil.
14:56And if you feel how you feel about that, whatever, that's on you.
14:59You can feel however you want.
15:01But Kaepernick as a quarterback, he went from Jim Harbaugh who got him and he used him in the right
15:07way.
15:07And then you go Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly back to back.
15:11I do think that was a part of the narrative of like, oh, this guy's a bum.
15:14But they figured him out.
15:15You're listening to 95.7 The Game, KGM, ZFM and HD1 San Francisco and Odyssey Sports Station.
15:20Always live in the free Odyssey app and now broadcasting at the Laughing Monk Studios.
15:23Yeah.
15:24The thing that I just kind of push back against is this idea that he wasn't a good quarterback.
15:28Like he was, he was unbelievable for a couple of years.
15:32And man, that Green Bay game against, uh, in the divisional round is one that I will never forget.
15:38Like we just kind of went down the list of one of those playoff performances from individuals that just stick
15:44out in your mind.
15:45Sleepy Floyd.
15:47He was 49ers.
15:48Exactly.
15:4940 rushes against the Packers.
15:52So that, that's a game that you can't tell me that Colin Kaepernick was not once a damn good football
15:58player.
15:59I'm almost more impressed by what he did when he went to Lambeau in the snow and won a playoff
16:04game there too.
16:05You know, an NFC title game on the road when you're down multiple scores.
16:10Like, I don't know, stuff like that.
16:12I got you.
16:13I mean, in a way, not to, not to, I mean, these two could not be more different, but this
16:18is a constant conversation with the 49er fan base, which is, what did the quarterback actually do?
16:26Kaepernick, Jimmy Garoppolo, and you know.
16:29When do you think that started?
16:31With Kyle's, like.
16:33I guess that's, that's what crystallized it.
16:35But, but, but, you know, we've had, forget the part in between Jim Harbaugh and Kyle Shanahan, but outside of
16:41that, 49ers had a really good coach for a long time and have been to three Super Bowls during that,
16:48that window.
16:49And when you have a really, really good coach, I do think sometimes people are like, you know, that's, that's
16:56somewhat more of the engine than the quarterback.
16:58We're still playing that game here.
17:00Well, and play that with Alex Smith, for example, who was here, and it's like, oh my God, number one
17:05overall, he's a bum, and he was not great here, and he had a different coach and a different coordinator,
17:10and then he goes and gets Andy Reid, and now you're a playoff quarterback every single year.
17:15Right, but, I mean, all of a sudden, Alex Smith is like, oh my God, he must have gotten better.
17:20No, he got into a better situation.
17:23Yeah, well, it's, and then, of course, that bled into our conversation that Weiss sort of led us into about
17:30the gap, if you will.
17:31You know, his, his point was, if you give the Niners health, and the word of the summer is if,
17:38he feels like there's a credit card between the 49ers, the Rams, and the Seahawks.
17:42And, you know, I don't think a lot of people have given that credence just because, I don't know, like,
17:49do you guys think it's just recency bias, or there's just this assumption that, whether it's the Warriors or the
17:55Niners, that these guys are just not going to stay healthy.
17:59And it's almost like getting your hopes up by saying, yeah, I think that George Kittle can play 15 games,
18:06or Chris McCaffrey can still touch the ball 300 times and be a good running back.
18:11It's like, no, you can't say that.
18:14You can't say that, otherwise, you're living in fair lane.
18:17I mean, it's completely wounding to me, and it's fair, I guess.
18:22You know, the Rams and Seahawks, both within recent memory, have won a Super Bowl.
18:26They are younger, although the Rams are old in spots, too.
18:31And the 49ers have been bitten by this bug, and how many times in a row is something going to
18:35happen before you just kind of shrug your shoulders and assume that's going to happen?
18:38Now, the other side to this is, no matter if Kittle, Bosa, and Trent Williams are more likely to get
18:45injured than their counterparts, I still don't know how you predict injury.
18:49And you can save this for Stiney when he gets back, because he does this to you every single day.
18:55I mean, we've seen young guys get hurt.
18:57Right, and we've also seen old guys play full seasons.
19:01McCaffrey.
19:01I'll submit to you that there might be a higher percentage, but there is a percentage, a solid percentage chance
19:07for every single one of them in the whole league to get hurt.
19:10So I don't know how you predict that.
19:12How do you predict the number of games someone's going to play or not play?
19:16And I hear a lot of that.
19:18Like, I got Kittle for nine games.
19:19I don't know where this comes from.
19:22I sit here, this is how I do August, I get excited about what's going to happen, and I think
19:28your mind works this way too, which is, what if it's great?
19:32You know, what if it mostly works?
19:34I start there, yeah.
19:35And the 49ers have a really good roster, and outside of Ricky Pearsall, literally no one right now that projects
19:43to be in trouble.
19:45So you don't have a Jimmy Butler or Moses Moody right now?
19:47Not at all.
19:47You went through that last year.
19:49Not at all.
19:49Mikel Williams on his way back, whenever that happened.
19:51Well, and like Moses Moody was, what, 24?
19:53And it was just like, you know, step, knee, gone.
19:56It's a little bit like Ricky Pearsall, and I know he had other injuries, but the one he sustained last
20:01year was not an injury that he had in camp.
20:04It was just one of those things where you step wrong, you get tackled, PCL.
20:08That's a bummer.
20:09That's more like Moses.
20:10And I think that you could look at the Jimmy Butler one and look a little bit more as, okay,
20:15old guy, never had an ACL, and I mean, you kind of can get that.
20:19I understand that might be an older player injury, but I don't think you look at those things and think,
20:25oh, my God, you're injury prone.
20:26And we were talking earlier about the Giants, and they've got 19 players right now on the IL.
20:31And, you know, they are young guys, and they are middle-aged guys.
20:36It's not the old guys.
20:37And they're Sacramento Rivercats.
20:39Right.
20:40So, I don't know.
20:41Injuries to me, like Mark was saying, it's really hard to, quote, predict, quote, unquote.
20:46And so, yeah.
20:48I don't know.
20:49I think they're a very good team.
20:51That's just, and I say that.
20:52And they won 12 games.
20:53Yeah, like I look at them right, this is how I look at them right now.
20:57There are position groups where I've got questions.
20:58I have no idea what Raheem Morris has got in his defensive backfield.
21:02I don't know what he's got lined up for us.
21:04I would hope the 49ers, I know we're all conditioned to be like, if Bosa's not there, we're going to
21:10get maybe one sack a game.
21:11It better be different than that.
21:13That better be their plan.
21:14But maybe Nick Bosa will play most of the games.
21:17I've got all kinds of questions.
21:18I just don't see anything in this moment that puts in Sharpie that the 49ers are injured or in trouble.
21:28They've got a really good roster.
21:30Is there some age on the offense?
21:31There's no question.
21:32And the Rams got age.
21:34Not as much.
21:35They're a quarterback.
21:36Yes.
21:36Yeah.
21:36Real quick, speaking of the Niners and the Rams, did you guys hear what Shanahan said about Australia?
21:41I was just going to ask you to play it, bud.
21:41About Australia?
21:42Yeah, yeah.
21:42I swear, Evan.
21:43Was it yesterday?
21:44Yeah, yeah, it was yesterday.
21:45I mean, it was, you know, like in the middle of all the Jed stuff.
21:48I was going to ask you to play it.
21:49I swear away.
21:50I don't know.
21:50This is just me.
21:51Okay, Kyle Shanahan.
21:52I don't remember this.
21:52I was sitting right there.
21:53I don't remember this.
21:54Hey, Kyle, do you want to go to Australia?
21:56I mean, I would love to show the day before and just play, but I'm not the best when it
22:01comes to the science and everything on that stuff.
22:03So you ask people who have done it a number of times.
22:05You ask people who study it.
22:06You take all their opinions in.
22:07We've been strongly recommended to, you know, when you've got a 19-hour flight and it's a
22:1316-hour something difference.
22:14I forgot because I haven't asked since we were making these decisions.
22:18But it's a big adjustment on the body.
22:19So the recommendation for everybody has been to tell us when to go and it's made a lot
22:23of sense.
22:24And I know how our players feel also.
22:26I was a little bit on the fence.
22:28Science wasn't what I was reported on and our players weren't at all.
22:32So that helped me get off the fence.
22:34Yeah.
22:35What is it?
22:35It's a shot at the Rams or?
22:38I don't know if it's a shot at the Rams, but wouldn't you like to talk to their scientists?
22:41Man.
22:42I was going to say, I think they have them.
22:43Yeah.
22:43They're not dumb.
22:44The Rams aren't like, oh, gosh, we don't have any money for scientists, so we'll just
22:48guess on this whole thing.
22:50Like, yeah, I don't know.
22:52But I'm glad Kyle said that because that's how all of us regular people would think, right?
22:59To get on a plane that long, because we know it's long, and then subject your body to go
23:03perform, I'm thinking pop, sprain, what have you.
23:07That's not how I want to do it.
23:08I'd want to be there, chill, get accustomed to my surroundings, and then go play some days
23:14later.
23:14I get that, and I heard him say, like, tell me when to go.
23:18He's 40.
23:1940 water.
23:20And so I wonder what the question was, because if the question is, how do we go out there
23:26and win this game?
23:27Well, I think the question about how do you win this game is you go eight days before,
23:30but what is the long-term benefit of going eight days before or going the day before?
23:36I do think those two questions might be different, and I guess we can kind of see it play out,
23:40and the Niners have a benefit of their schedule and stuff, and they come home, they got three
23:45games, and we're going to be here for a long time and stuff, and we have a couple of soft
23:49opponents and stuff.
23:50And so I wonder, like, what the real question is, because to win that game, I do believe
23:56you go a week early and you can win that game and stuff, but how does that affect you
24:01on the back end?
24:02Well, some people think that jet lag doesn't hit you for a number of days.
24:08So I think my guess, I'm completely guessing.
24:11They don't want to.
24:12And I've referred to this as the hot coals sort of an idea, which is that if we just,
24:18we get ahead of the jet lag affecting us, we can sort of outsmart it.
24:24The jet lag will hit us, but we'll already be on the way home.
24:28And then it'll hit us again, but we've got 10 days to recover, but I'm glad that Kyle
24:34talked about the fact that there are scientists who weighed in on this.
24:38Rams scientists, your move.
24:40Yeah.
24:41It sounds like he wanted to do what Sean McVay wanted to do, and he was either talked off the
24:47ledge or just was like, yeah.
24:48I'm excited.
24:49All guys have told us that if we go there, I mean, we might not play great in the front
24:53end, but I think, but you know, if we're able to fly in and fly out, I think that we
24:56have
24:56a better chance to recover and not actually have a man.
25:00That's really good.
25:01That's better than this, Kyle.
25:03It's really getting better.
25:05That's pretty good.
25:06I've been working on it.
25:07Do you work on it in the bathroom?
25:08I don't, but like in the moment, I try to, you know, whenever the moment strikes, I try
25:15to like, you know, go with it.
25:17And so it's kind of.
25:18When does the moment strike and what does your wife and daughter think about this when you
25:22start speaking like that?
25:23Oh, we actually don't talk about it at home because they don't know who Sean McVay is.
25:26I mean, sometimes I talk really fast and they don't know what I'm doing.
25:29But really, I mean, we thought if we fly right away and we fly back, we wouldn't have jet
25:33lag.
25:33And I think that our guys are up for it.
25:35And even if we lose that game, I think that we're more suited to come back and actually
25:39do well.
25:39So my son, you sound like Shasky, right?
25:43That's pretty good.
25:45My son's asleep upstairs.
25:47That's a point.
25:48For the next 50 years.
25:49We probably should do a Shanahan McVay joint press conference upon arrival in Australia.
25:55You got it, dude.
25:56Maybe we do a McVay-Shasky at the summit.
25:58Dude, that's great.
26:00What were you going to say?
26:01No, real quick.
26:02Evan doesn't know this.
26:02I'm mad at the NFL.
26:03I'm a 70s baby.
26:04So you guys can relate.
26:05I think I remember week one used to be Labor Day, Dallas against the Redskins.
26:11The start of school used to be Labor Day, right?
26:13What happened?
26:14Why are we wasting a week?
26:16We could have Labor Day, friends, family come over for barbecue and kick off the end
26:21at what happened?
26:21What am I missing?
26:22Trying to push the Super Bowl to Valentine's Day.
26:25That's what.
26:25That's what happened to me.
26:26Yeah.
26:26Those that know, know.
26:28Everybody gets to save your $300 on that fancy dinner this year.
26:34Well, and once we get to 18 games and it's a 20-game schedule with two buys, we'll be
26:40back to Labor Day.
26:4220 games.
26:42And we can get into like this year with the Super Bowl on Valentine's Day.
26:46Evan was, he's nervous.
26:48It's going to be a Valentine's-themed Super Bowl party.
26:51It's going to be out here, I promise.
26:53Because you have to have like a big heart around your TV or something.
26:56Oh, man.
26:56There's going to be, what's, is it the bingo game?
27:00What's it, quarters?
27:01Oh, quarters?
27:02Squares?
27:03Yeah, squares.
27:03Yeah, there's going to be Valentine's-themed squares with different love hearts and themes
27:08and things you've got to go say to people during commercial breaks.
27:10I don't know.
27:10February 13th.
27:11Yeah.
27:12Big night at the restaurants this year.
27:14No doubt.
27:15February 13th.
27:16No doubt.
27:16Seize candy.
27:17Get ready.
27:18We're coming early this year.
27:20All right.
27:21Well, more discussion about Shannon coming up on 95.7.
27:25Tim Kawakami in 15 minutes.
27:27Greg Cosell in an hour.
27:28My game.
27:29Shannon!
27:30Greg Cosell in an hour.
27:30I'm Jenny.
27:30Hey,
