00:00Well, some more local council by-election results this week worth looking at, and one in particular
00:06that had a pretty shocking outcome. Now, before I get to that, in terms of just how extreme the
00:12policies we've seen put in place recently by our own government are, I mean, just take this into
00:19account. The number of people given the right to settle in the UK just reached a 16-year high.
00:24In terms of indefinite leave to remain, 73,000 people given that in one quarter, the second
00:31quarter of 2026. That's the highest quarter on record. And you can see there nearly 200,000 people
00:39granted settlement in the year-end June 2026, 144% increase since 2019. And those qualifying then
00:51have access to welfare, have access to benefits, have access to social housing, at a time when
00:57we've now got almost 1.3 million people from abroad, foreign-born, claiming universal credit
01:06in May 2026, as the country goes bankrupt, as the country goes bust. Absolutely bonkers. And yet,
01:15we've got a by-election result here in Dover, where you can see this is actually a Green victory,
01:22because the Conservatives who had held that seat collapse like they pretty much are everywhere,
01:29and restore there, getting close to 11% of the vote. And that has led to a situation where
01:34Reform, at 27.5%, beaten just there by the Greens. That is a pretty shocking outcome, and
01:44it'll be interesting to see what voters who opted for the Tories and Restore make of that.
01:50Elsewhere, what you've seen, and again, this flies in the face of some of the media narrative,
01:55doesn't it? It's yet another reform gain from Labour. So Labour's vote share up in Sheffield there,
02:01but so is reform slightly, very slightly, a reform getting over 50% of the vote, and that is a
02:08reform
02:09gain from Labour. In Newcastle, you can also see here, reform down slightly, a big Lib Dem surge
02:16actually there, with Labour and the Tories both down, but reform holding on to that seat. But you
02:22did see in St Helens, Labour's vote share up there pretty substantially, and that's a Labour gain from
02:30reform. And you'll notice again here, in most places, that the Tories are just totally irrelevant.
02:36And finally, in Wandsworth, well, the Tories there did actually increase their vote share,
02:40but so did Labour, and Labour actually holding on to that seat. But as ever, you know, I think it's
02:46important to look at the trends of what is going on overall as a bigger picture. And what you can
02:52see
02:52here, once again, is clear. It's reform up pretty substantially. It's the Lib Dems up a bit, but both
02:58the Conservatives and Labour still going backwards. But yeah, in particular, I think that Dover by-election
03:06result, pretty shocking stuff, guys. Do let me know your thoughts, though, on that in the comments
03:11below. Please do whack this video a quick thumbs up, and of course, as ever, cheers for watching.
