00:00I was talking to you about a little college football as we get ready for that game tomorrow as well.
00:05Do you think like I think, or do you think Belichick is in for the long haul in North Carolina?
00:11I don't know.
00:12Everything that happened with Lombardi and everything, it seems to me that this is a one and a half and
00:18done for Belichick.
00:19I don't even know if he makes it through the year.
00:22Well, I mean, listen, I'll say this.
00:24Belichick took over late in the game last year.
00:27Let's not forget that.
00:29That was he had already missed the recruiting cycle.
00:33What was there was going to be there at that point.
00:36He had to settle for Freddie Kitchens as an offensive coordinator.
00:39They didn't get any quarterbacks, the quarterback they wanted.
00:43They didn't end up signing.
00:44He went someplace else.
00:46So you have a situation where now this is a full year of Belichick, including recruits.
00:53The guys on this team are his.
00:55They are guys that had a year's worth of, you know, work under Belichick and his style and what's going
01:02on.
01:03I mean, Lombardi was an unfortunate situation.
01:05But his son also being sick or on medical leave or I don't know what's going on with that.
01:12But Belichick's calling the defense.
01:15He all indications are he loves the defense.
01:18They've got an experienced quarterback here, former Wisconsin player who beat out a former Texas A&M quarterback.
01:24So they're not void of talent.
01:27They play in the ACC.
01:29And I think it's not like Belichick forgot how to coach.
01:32If you think he doesn't know how to coach football players, I am not running to the window backing TCU
01:39in Dublin in a situation where the quarterback they've had for the last three years left them to go to
01:47Indiana.
01:48And now they've got a quarterback at best played at Harvard.
01:52That's a totally different game.
01:54I think a year of Belichick now, a lot of guys back on that defensive side of the ball.
02:00They're very young.
02:01But I think he's got the guys that he wants there.
02:04And I think they're going to be much better than they were a year ago.
02:08I think he makes a bowl game.
02:10Not that there's many of them left.
02:11Really?
02:12He's not going to win a national championship.
02:14But he plays in the right – if he played in the SEC, it would be a different story.
02:19But he plays in the ACC.
02:21And most of those teams are – it's like the American League, right?
02:24They're garbage anyway.
02:26So to win six games, I think you have to qualify for a bowl game.
02:30Would that not be success for North Carolina this year after the year they had a year ago?
02:35I mean, we're on the opposite sides of this too, obviously.
02:37But, yeah, I just – yes, that would be a success.
02:40I just don't see it happening.
02:41Here is, I guess, my bigger question.
02:44Not – I do consider myself to be somebody who's very into college football and follows it.
02:50But when I see things that – it's not that they don't make sense, but I guess I would counter
02:55by saying this, Joe.
02:57If North Carolina has a legitimate shot in this game tomorrow, why on earth, in a neutral site game, are
03:04they eight-and-a-half point dogs against TCU?
03:06This game is not even at TCU.
03:08It's in Ireland.
03:11So if the game was in TCU, the line would be 12, right?
03:18Eleven-and-a-half, 12?
03:19I mean, that tells you that these two teams may not belong on the same field.
03:23Now, this could all be wrong tomorrow, and maybe North Carolina keeps it close.
03:28I am very concerned.
03:29I am very concerned.
03:30I just don't think that he is built to coach in college football.
03:36I think that he was bitter that he didn't get an NFL job and said, I'm just going to take
03:42my ball and go to college.
03:44I mean, he – look, I'm not part of any conversation to understand.
03:47I think, Joe, that he thought – that Bill Belichick thought he was the coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
03:52I think that's what he thought.
03:54And then something happened.
03:56I don't know if it was really Arthur Blank talking to Kraft or what, but that seemed like the absolute
04:01perfect fit for a gig.
04:03He didn't get it, and then mysteriously, no other team even considered hiring him.
04:09I'm worried about the Tar Heels, man.
04:11I am.
