00:00And in the ACC, we have a 2-0 North Carolina
00:05against a 1-1 Clemson.
00:08And we've got a field goal number right now.
00:12Let me get the latest around the market here.
00:16I saw 3.5 this morning.
00:18Yeah, it looks like those got all 8 up, because I did as well.
00:21But it looks like now, actually, there's a 2.5 out there.
00:24If you were interested on the Clemson side of things,
00:30this is, before I even get to what I'm doing in this game,
00:37Davos Sweeney is a guy who has been under fire in recent years
00:42because of the standard that he helped build with Clemson.
00:48And in 2024, this team wins the ACC
00:54and sneaks into the college football playoff.
00:57They do not have a particularly great season,
01:00but they win the conference.
01:02They lose to Texas.
01:03It's like, okay, this should be the momentum for a big 2025.
01:08For those who don't remember, Clemson had, I think,
01:11the most returning production in college football.
01:14And it was a season just disastrous.
01:18They were 3-5.
01:20Yeah, they won their Final Four.
01:21Who really cares?
01:22It was a pathetic, pathetic year.
01:25Well, coming into this year, the thought was, man, this could be bad.
01:30And I'll admit, I actually thought this Clemson team could surprise people
01:34because I thought that Davos Sweeney was being graded on a curve
01:38that he deserves to be graded on,
01:40but it doesn't mean he's not capable of putting together a nine-win season.
01:45And I now feel like Davos Sweeney is almost coaching for his job here.
01:50Losing to LSU, you would think, oh, nothing is...
01:52No, no, no.
01:53They lost 51-10 and then barely beat Georgia Southern.
01:58Now, 2-0 or not, no one is going to get...
02:01Oh, Bill Belichick.
02:02No, no, no.
02:03You're Clemson.
02:04You're at home.
02:04You have to win.
02:07How much pressure do you think Davos is on?
02:09Do you think this could be his final season with Clemson?
02:15I think it could be his final season,
02:17but not the same way people are thinking that they're going to fire him.
02:20I think if the season goes haywire, it could just be a, you know what,
02:23let me move on with my career somewhere else and to do, you know,
02:28maybe the Nick Saban thing, go do television, and it's time to move on.
02:32I don't think Clemson gets to a point where they kick a two-time
02:35national championship coach to the curve.
02:37So, in that respect, I don't see it the same as it's Mike Norvell
02:41where the guy's going to get fired because the team's terrible.
02:43That said, this is a tough spot for them because you're not facing
02:47a North Carolina team that 4-8 and they were terrible last year
02:51and you lose their opener.
02:53This team actually looked good in Ireland versus TCU.
02:56The defense looked extremely good.
02:58And then in week two, they went ahead and piled up 427 yards of offense.
03:03Granted, it was East Tennessee State.
03:06Through two games, they're fifth in the nation in scoring defense,
03:09which is the point I want to make in this game.
03:11They've only allowed 13 points per game,
03:13and they have gone seven straight quarters without a touchdown.
03:16They allowed a touchdown on one of the first drives of the game, the TCU,
03:19and haven't allowed a touchdown since.
03:21Now, granted, it was East Tennessee State.
03:22They still held them down, and they held TCU down.
03:25It's a really good Bill Belichick-type defense.
03:29They held East Tennessee State to 250 yards.
03:32And you're going up a Clemson offense that is a train wreck right now,
03:36and they're not going to have their starting quarterback.
03:38He's going to be out for the game in the business.
03:40So you're going to have somebody making their first start of the season
03:44in a conference game versus Bill Belichick.
03:46So I like North Carolina in this one.
03:50You know, Billy Edwards is the transfer from Wisconsin on the offense.
03:53He's completed 65% of his passes and hasn't thrown an interception.
03:57They're playing Bill Belichick football for the first time since he got there.
04:00Efficient offense, good defense.
04:02Now, I'm not calling for North Carolina to play in a big bowl game
04:05and go to the playoff.
04:06They're not that good.
04:07But they've looked more Bill Belichick than they have in the 14 games
04:12since he's been there.
04:13And you got a spot against a Clemson team that is not good right now,
04:18despite who they have.
04:19I don't know if it's coaching, Kevin.
04:21I don't know if it's not the right mix of players.
04:23But the offense is a mess.
04:25Couldn't move the ball at all.
04:26I don't give them any credit for winning 22-7 last week over Georgia Southern.
04:31So your two data points for Clemson are getting blown out by LSU
04:35and score 22 versus Georgia Southern.
04:38Now you play North Carolina.
04:40I like North Carolina in this spot on the road.
04:42Fully aware of what happened last year when Clemson won by a million in this game.
04:46But they scored 28 points in the fourth quarter and only won 38-10.
04:51So the rest of the game was a match.
04:54It just was a shell-shocking first quarter for North Carolina.
04:58Yeah, I think I don't want to be dismissive over Belichick
05:02because this is a guy who hooked us up in Week 0.
05:05I do think for Clemson, the, you know, Vizina's out.
05:13Guys, Dabo went out of his way.
05:15I mean, I don't want to say it was mean, but like,
05:18he went out of his way to tell people that Vizina getting injured is irrelevant,
05:21that Tate Reynolds was getting the start
05:23because the Vizina stuff's been really, really bad.
05:26And Reynolds adds a level of movement that this team needs at the quarterback position
05:30to try and create something out of nothing.
05:32Clemson are still the more talented football team here.
05:35At three, I have no choice but to back Dabo in this spot.
