00:01Hello there, we're at Thruxton this weekend for round seven of the British Superbike Championship,
00:05a circuit that in recent years has been dominated by one manufacturer.
00:09Up until yesterday, over the last five seasons, all 15 races have been won by Yamaha riders.
00:15So surely this was the weekend that Kyle Rydes' Ducati dominance would come to an end.
00:21Surely.
00:26Round seven of eleven for 2026, and in the peak of summer, we're at Thruxton in Hampshire.
00:34If you have never tuned in to a BSB race at Thruxton before, you're in for a treat.
00:41Eyes on the light, and away we go, not a good getaway, it's all from Matko, the perfect getaway for
00:47Kyle Rydes.
00:48That's Scott Redding who's poked his nose up ahead, they're side by side now, on the approach to the complex
00:53already.
00:53Number one, Kyle Rydes, up alongside him and Scott Redding, and he attacks immediately.
00:58Oh, and Kyle now going back to the inside there.
01:00You've got to be careful with your tyres there, we've seen an incident there, first lap.
01:03This is brilliant, from the work goal.
01:07Matko's made a mistake.
01:08Yeah, that's allowed Bradley Rydes to come through then into fifth place.
01:15Oh, here comes a move from Kyle Rydes into Church Corner.
01:19Kyle makes his move on Scott Redding.
01:21Does he attack immediately back into the clock chicane?
01:24It looks like he's going to have a look.
01:27Things are about to get a bit busy.
01:28Oh, that was brave and bold from Kyle.
01:31What a move into turn two.
01:33He fights straight back, really deep.
01:37Kyle attacks back immediately, up the inside, side by side on the exit now, and a twitch on the rim.
01:42Scott Redding's done his tyre, he's the one through to the back.
01:45Rory Skinner now makes his move on number seven, Vickers.
01:53Look at Max Cook now.
01:56He's starting to kick his way through the pack.
02:00Oh, he's gone down, that's a horrible one, he's from Will.
02:02Has hit the back of Leon Haslam, we may well see a red flag.
02:05Yeah, we've got a red flag, and that will be declared a result.
02:09Smiles for Kyle Rydes.
02:12Impressive record continues.
02:18Another track, another win for Kyle Rydes.
02:21At least one at every round so far in 2026, with two more opportunities today.
02:25But for Skinner, Vickers and Ray, that red flag finish left a sense of what could have been.
02:30And the chance to go one better today is real.
02:33Whilst for Scott Redding, recovering more lost points in this championship is now imperative.
02:40Welcome along, slightly cloudier conditions today here at Thruxton, but still perfect for racing.
02:45Lots to look forward to, lots for James Hayden and Shane Byrne to get the teeth stuck into.
02:49We'll start with Kyle Shakey, because once again, yesterday, red flag helped him a little bit,
02:54cutting the race short by two laps.
02:56But nevertheless, right place, right time once again.
02:59Do you know what, you've answered your own question there.
03:01It was exactly that, wasn't it?
03:02You know, the problem with Thruxton is, everybody knows it's a tyre battle.
03:05You've got two guys there on equal bikes going at it, right?
03:07We've got a little bit of a battle there from Scott and Kyle.
03:10It was fantastic to watch, but everybody in that race was trying to keep their cars close to their chest,
03:15not use too much tyre, get to like 16 or 18 laps in, and then try and pull the pin
03:19for a couple of laps.
03:20Scott led with a little bit too fast of a pace.
03:23Kyle was where he needed to be when the red flag come out.
03:26But unfortunately, after two-thirds race distance, if the red flag comes out, it's declared a result.
03:30Kyle was right place, right time.
03:33Yeah, I mean, it's Kyle, he's using his head.
03:38It actually, Scott used probably a bit too much of his tyre on hindsight, went a little bit early,
03:42tried to make that break, couldn't do it, and he just didn't have it when he needed it at the
03:47end there.
03:47We talked a lot yesterday, and we'll, I'm sure, do the same today,
03:50about strategy and the importance of having a plan to manage the tyre and all of that here at Thruxton.
03:56In particular, James, but Kyle seems to be the guy that is able to go in with a plan.
04:00They all do that, but he's able to adopt his somehow and make it work, no matter what happens.
04:05Yeah, and I think that's really one of his strong points.
04:07He seems to be so cool under pressure.
04:09You know, when other people are seeing the red mist, you know, he's taking a step back
04:12and he can kind of see the big picture, keeps it super cool.
04:16And as you say, he always positions himself in getting the right sort of spot.
04:22Yes, there's a touch of luck about that sometimes, but also if you keep getting lucky,
04:26is it luck?
04:26You make your own luck.
04:27Do you know what I think?
04:28I think that there were two battle programs there.
04:31There was like Scott going away and thinking to himself, do you know what?
04:34If I'm out front, I can use my lines, I can use my throttle when I need to use my
04:39throttle.
04:39I can look after my own tyre.
04:41I think, like James said, the only problem was he went off probably about half a second or so
04:45a lap too fast, got sort of 10 laps in, and then realised he was in a bit of bother,
04:49whereas Kyle was a little bit more patient.
04:51Obviously, this morning's race, I'm sure the race, 12 laps rather than 20, so it's a slightly
04:55different ball game.
04:56So a lot of the guys will be not quite absolutely flat out every lap, but just maybe give it
05:02the first few and then go flat out.
05:04Hey, let's not forget as well.
05:05We saw a 13.8 from Kyle this morning in morning warm-up.
05:09Yes, track conditions are much cooler.
05:11Yesterday was really, really hot, like the race itself, but we're expecting two great races
05:15today.
05:15OK, well, as you can see, the grid is starting to form up behind us.
05:18Unfortunately, Max Cook won't be on the grid.
05:21You saw at the top there that crash that led to the red flag yesterday.
05:25Thankfully, he escaped from that with just a concussion.
05:28He's back in the paddock and he's talking to Steve there.
05:32Max, I have to say it's really good to see you back in the box here after a frightening
05:37crash yesterday.
05:38Tell us what you remember from it and how are you feeling?
05:41Yeah, cheers, Steve.
05:43I'm well happy to be here and in one piece, if I'm honest.
05:46It wasn't the nicest of crashes to watch back on, but yeah, just really grateful nothing's
05:53broken and that I'm all OK relatively.
05:56Yeah, I had a check over last night, but yeah, obviously really gutted for not being able to
06:03ride this weekend.
06:04And obviously to the whole team to put a big effort in, it's my favorite round.
06:08And, you know, I absolutely love riding here, but just got so unlucky.
06:11So, yeah, I see a huge apologies to Adrian Steele's top of the motor.
06:15But yeah, luckily I should be all right for Cadwell.
06:19I was, I do have a little bit of concussion.
06:21You know, I think I hit the barrier quite hard, but I was super lucky that the air fence was
06:27there to catch me, you know, because if that wasn't, if the BSB guys didn't lay out that
06:31air fence, it probably would have been another story.
06:34But, you know, to be in one piece, I'm really grateful for that.
06:36Well, thanks, Max.
06:37Hopefully we'll see you back at Cadwell soon.
06:39Yeah, thanks ever so much.
06:40And yeah, thanks to everyone for the support as well.
06:43The phone's been inundated with all messages and stuff.
06:46So, yeah, I can't really look at my phone too much at the minute.
06:48But yeah, thanks ever so much.
06:51Yeah, great to see Max relatively OK.
06:54Real shame because he was definitely a contender for the win here today.
06:57The grid further depleted this morning in warm-up after a huge crash for Richard Kerr.
07:01James, and a perfect example of how this circuit can catch you up.
07:05Yeah, it just gets bigger and bigger, gains energy, and then what was a little slide turns
07:09into a horrendous crash.
07:11The bike smashes itself up.
07:13He gets really bad.
07:14Even one of the fork springs is out the top of the forks there.
07:17That's how sort of badly smashed it was.
07:20Thankfully, he is stable.
07:22He has gone to hospital.
07:23And, you know, we wish him, Kerr and the whole team, all the best there.
07:28I'll tell you, one rider who is very much on the grid, Shane, is your man Brad Ray.
07:31He's on pole position.
07:32Fastest lap of the race yesterday.
07:34And a guy who potentially could have challenged even over those last couple of laps.
07:38I mean, we'll never know now.
07:39But with the way the tyre wear works around this circuit, he will have been a little bit
07:43kind of bittersweet yesterday that moment.
07:45Yeah, it would.
07:45I mean, Brad rode great yesterday.
07:47He, you know, he said he had loads of tyre left, conserved himself.
07:50You know, thought he sort of played out the perfect battle plan.
07:53This is Bradley in warm-up, actually, having a ride around with Charlie Nesbitt or Fraser
07:58Rogers, one of the two.
07:59But, you know, quite a way off, actually, Kyle's lap time.
08:02Kyle and Leon Haslam this morning were both phenomenally fast.
08:05You know, far faster than we've seen the guys go all weekend.
08:08So where that came from, I don't know.
08:09As I mentioned earlier on, track temperatures down, that'll help with the lap time, but not
08:13by, like, a second or so a lap.
08:14Yeah.
08:15I mean, I think definitely, compared to, you know, track temperature yesterday, I think that
08:19little cool air, you know, the top speed, it's a nicer for the tyre.
08:22So I think that definitely helps.
08:24But I do think there were some guys yesterday who would have been in the hunt, had been
08:28laying back.
08:28And I do think that they, with the, you know, the red flag that came out, were caught out.
08:32Hopefully today, this morning, you know, it should be a different game.
08:35And I'm really excited about this one.
08:37Yeah.
08:37It's going to take a whole different complexion over the shorter distance.
08:41Two races to look forward to, as James said, this afternoon.
08:43The sprint race is first up for us.
08:45BSB race two and three this weekend gets underway from 20 past one.
08:49We'll show you what happened just a little bit earlier this morning in the national
08:53super stock race.
08:54That's a cracker.
08:55Look out for that at two.
08:56At 2.40, we'll have the latest installment of the Moto4, British Cup, Stars of the Future
09:00there, in their second race.
09:02Super Sport feature race is at 25 past three.
09:05We'll have BSB race three, the full feature length distance from quarter past four.
09:10And then we'll wrap things up with the sport bikes and the junior sport bikes too.
09:16So, as you can see, the grid is formed here at Thruxton.
09:19Let's get amongst it with James Whitton.
09:21Cheers, boys.
09:22Row two.
09:22I've got to speak to this man after the ride he put in yesterday to second his best run
09:25of the year.
09:26This is Rory Skinner.
09:28Rory, great to see you.
09:29We haven't been egging more in here for any good reason otherwise, other than the fact
09:33that this is the best sort of ride you've had, most competitive you've been.
09:38And it's good to speak to you again, mate.
09:40Yeah, to be honest, Jamie, if you'd come and see me at any other point in the year,
09:43I probably wouldn't have had much good things to say anyway, so it would have made for very
09:45good TV.
09:46However, yeah, this weekend's been much better.
09:48A lot more positive.
09:49I'm feeling a lot better.
09:50Just kind of came into the weekend and obviously the Yamaha's always worked quite well at Thruxton.
09:54Everybody knows that.
09:55And it's maybe just that little extra step that we needed.
09:57You know, yesterday in the race, I felt really strong, felt comfortable.
10:00And I feel like if it went the distance, we could have challenged.
10:03You look strong at the end.
10:04Thanks.
10:04Yeah, yeah.
10:04Felt good.
10:05The boys done a really good job this weekend, making sure the bike's in the window it needs to
10:08be in.
10:09Yeah.
10:10It's always seems to be going in the right direction.
10:11Really good to see, honestly.
10:14Love it.
10:14Cheers.
10:16Yeah, good kid.
10:17And we've been, we don't know how much talent he's got.
10:19Been struggling just to find the setup to let him do what he can do.
10:23But he looked really good yesterday.
10:25He was one of the ones that probably could have had a push for win had the race had gone
10:28full distance.
10:30And same could be said for this man.
10:32He says, Ryan Vickers has been riding over the top all year, really strong.
10:36Not complained about anything.
10:37Got on with his job.
10:38And that's what I like to see from a professional rider.
10:41But that was a good run yesterday.
10:43And I bet, you've never said anything about it, but I bet you were slightly disappointed
10:47of the red flag yesterday.
10:49Yeah, I think so.
10:50So, I had Rory come past me at the end and I wasn't too worried about it because I was
10:56just waiting for them last two laps.
10:58I had really good tire life.
10:59I was using less track.
11:00I was standing a bike up.
11:02I was able to gain in the real important part of the track, building onto the exit of
11:06church and it was all a bit more and it was all coming together.
11:14But luckily, that was the first race of the weekend and not the last.
11:18So, we've got two more shots at it today.
11:20And yeah, I think we've made some steps to the bike, cooler conditions today.
11:24Let's see.
11:2612 lap of no excuse is there now, is there?
11:28Exactly.
11:28I don't know what the lap times are going to be, but they were fast enough yesterday.
11:31So, we might see some 13s today.
11:33Good luck, Ryan.
11:34Cheers.
11:34Thank you, guys.
11:35Yeah, a rider that really would have been in the mix towards the end of that if it
11:38hadn't have been red flagged.
11:39Got to have a quick word with this chap here because he got the win.
11:44And you're always quite magnanimous in every kind of situation.
11:49And you said, oh, no, I'd have struggled if it had gone full distance.
11:52But did you have a plan left if it had gone, if it hadn't have got red flagged or not?
11:55Uh, I don't know.
11:57It didn't happen, did it?
11:58So, if you're at Alton Park or anywhere else, you can understand what you've got left.
12:02But here, even though you think you've got it, four laps is a massive round here, especially
12:05when you've already done 15.
12:06So, I don't know.
12:08We'll never get to see that last four laps, will we?
12:09But the main thing is that Max was all right.
12:11So, yeah, try again today.
12:13This one's going to be fast.
12:14Good luck.
12:15Cheers, mate.
12:16Yeah, and judging off what Kyle was able to do, we've got 2.15 left.
12:19Judging off what Kyle did in warm-up this morning, it is going to be quick.
12:25Uh, sorry, Larry.
12:26Right.
12:27Leo Nelson, a man putting a good season together to me.
12:29Good, solid.
12:30Yeah, I know you're never happy, but we're used to seeing you and you're never far off
12:35for you.
12:36No, it was all right.
12:37It's all about tyre management.
12:38Um, I didn't get the best of starts.
12:40We had a bit of a gap to the league group.
12:42I was slowly chipping away at it.
12:43Um, and obviously, yeah, we obviously had that coming together with Max, so thankfully
12:47it's okay.
12:48Um, but yeah, you know what it's like around here.
12:49I've got to save that tyre and be smooth, which is not my forte, so I'm learning.
12:53Lest you worry about this one with a 12 lap and not a 20?
12:55Yeah, exactly that.
12:57Um, this morning we did a 39, actually qualified.
12:59That was 1.1 seconds this morning than what I qualified on faster.
13:02So we know the pace is there.
13:03Um, we've just got to make it last for the 12 laps.
13:06Good luck.
13:07Right, 1.5 minutes left.
13:08I can just about get a word with both.
13:11This is Scott Redding.
13:12Scott Redding went out front yesterday and then used a little bit too much of his tyre.
13:16I think he learned a lot from that.
13:17This is a shorter race.
13:19Uh, Scott, pace is there, but just used a little bit too much tyre yesterday in the
13:23longer race.
13:23That's what it looked like.
13:24Yeah, it's hard to say really, because Kyle was only a tenth a lap slower than me, really.
13:29So I don't believe it was that.
13:31It's possible.
13:33Um, I don't know.
13:34I just, I was riding very, very, very comfortable in reserve.
13:37The gap was going up a little bit, so I just kept doing what I thought was right, but it
13:41didn't work, so.
13:43Short a race, make a big difference to speed?
13:45It will be, but the pace will be higher, so it could be the same issue.
13:48But we'll give it a shot.
13:49Good luck, Scott.
13:50Nice one, thank you.
13:51Uh, right, 45 seconds left.
13:53Got to have a quick word with this man.
13:55And I, honestly, I said before the race started, having spoke to him, uh, before the race,
14:00that you were a dark horse, that proved to be the case.
14:03You sat on pole because of that.
14:06This probably might be the race for you, 12 lap or short, and not having to worry too
14:10much about strategy.
14:12Yeah, I think, um, I think if you go too hard at the start, I still think you'll suffer
14:15at the end.
14:16But, uh, yeah, I feel like we've got a good pace.
14:18We can get a good start and stay in that, that top, sort of top three.
14:21Um, be patient and, uh, try and have a, have a little bit of a dig at the end.
14:26Go well, Brad.
14:27Cheers, mate.
14:28Yeah, that's it.
14:28I think it will be in the mix of anything.
14:29Get a start and not wait until you start having to catch up the group.
14:33I think, well, I actually can't call this one, and that's the beauty of Thruxton.
14:36Brilliant.
14:38Yeah, well, if yesterday was like a high-speed game of chess, today is going to be like a
14:43boxing match.
14:4412 rounds of the Thruxton Thunderdome.
14:47Seconds out when we come back.
14:57Seconds out when we come back.
15:42Welcome to round seven of the British Superbike Championship for 2026.
15:48It is one of the highlights of the summer, one of the highlights of the year, a Sunday
15:53at Thruxton.
15:54A packed crowd in Hampshire with two Superbike races coming up today.
15:59It's the 20th race out of 33 in this championship, being led by Carl Ride, who is on such a
16:06dominant
16:07run.
16:0837 points up, 19 races, 19 podiums, 13 wins.
16:13Scott Redding, then, with work to do here today.
16:16Bradley Ray, his third in the championship.
16:18He's got quite a lot of work to do in the points.
16:20But today, it's all about the racing action.
16:23We have seen some brilliant races here over the last few years.
16:27Yamaha dominance came to an end yesterday, thanks to Carl Ride.
16:30But it's the Yamaha on pole in the hands of Bradley Ray.
16:33Looking for a win here on the McCams Yamaha.
16:37He's joined on that front row by Scott Redding and Leon Haslam.
16:40The championship leader heads row two.
16:42What a row two that is as well.
16:43Featuring Ryan Vickers on the podium here yesterday.
16:46And likewise, Rory Skinner.
16:48Eden is seventh on the grid ahead of the rookie, Joe Talbot, riding solo for Bermota.
16:53Danny Kent starts in ninth.
16:55Looked stronger this morning in warm-up.
16:58The two tack boys are on row four.
16:59They're joined by Rocket BMW rider Ilya Mikkelchik, with Storm Stacey starting 13th ahead of Lee
17:05Jackson and Glenn Irwin.
17:07Big names further back on the grid, isn't there?
17:09O'Halloran there on row six.
17:10Josh Brooks, nine-time winner here on row seven.
17:13As we get ready then for a sprint race, 12 laps.
17:18Massive crowd here, as you would expect.
17:20A festival atmosphere here.
17:23Fans of Storm Stacey and riders various as we get ready to go.
17:27This is going to be a different race, though, James.
17:28A 12-lap sprint.
17:29They can't just go for it for every lap.
17:31There has to be some tyre nurturing in the early stages.
17:34They nearly can.
17:35Chatting with them, not on the grid.
17:37But this morning, you can almost go flat stick from the beginning, but not quite.
17:43And we know if the tyre falls off a cliff, as they call it, then you're going to come back
17:47quick.
17:47Probably two seconds a lap.
17:48There will be a bit of management, but it's going to be a faster race.
17:51Here we go then.
17:52It's eyes on the lights then here for the sprint race at Thruxton.
17:56And we are underway.
17:57A really good start from Scott Redding, actually, on the Hager PBM Ducati.
18:00He will surely get the whole shot into Turn 1.
18:02He does.
18:03Ahead of Brad Ray.
18:04Haslam third.
18:05Car ride here immediately challenging.
18:07Right, Vickers got away well.
18:08In fact, Car ride's just dropped back a couple of spots.
18:10Vickers is well placed.
18:11Car ride going around the outside.
18:13Surely that won't work down there into the complex.
18:15It kind of has.
18:16That was lovely from the championship leader.
18:18Yeah, past two in the complex.
18:20Normally you go in wide.
18:22You come out wide.
18:23And he didn't.
18:24Really good.
18:25People are a little bit nervous there.
18:27It's the first time you're on to the left-hand side of the tyre.
18:29They flick it left through Noble Corner.
18:31It's Rory Skinner there with his teammate Danny Kent.
18:33So a good start there from Kent.
18:34And immediately, maybe a challenge there.
18:36Bearing lines, as you will always see here at Thruxton.
18:39It's Redding who leads from Ray.
18:41As we're now about to approach Church Corner.
18:43The fastest on our calendar.
18:47Through the right-hander we go.
18:49Love this kerb can.
18:52They make their way up towards Club Schicane for the first time.
18:54Is Brad Ray eyeing up a move here on Scott Redding?
18:57Yeah, I don't know.
18:58But Car ride's definitely eyeing up a move on Leon Haslam.
19:02Outside line.
19:02It's a brave one.
19:03It's a brave one.
19:04He's made it work.
19:04But he has made it work.
19:06Incredible.
19:07How confident have you got to be on the front end to do that?
19:09And that's round, not a back marker.
19:11That's Leon Haslam.
19:12He was fractions away from an all-time lap record earlier today in morning warm-up.
19:17Yes, he was.
19:18Spoke to Shannon Etheridge, his crew chief, this morning.
19:20They made changes to that bike overnight.
19:22And now he's putting up a move into turn two as well.
19:25Look how confident he looks.
19:26And it's another one on Scott Redding as well.
19:29Oh, dear, dear, dear.
19:30He is not mucking about.
19:31He's simply the best, this car ride.
19:33I think that we have now seen that his intention is to clear off.
19:38Whatever changes they made has helped Kyle.
19:40He was already in good nick as it was.
19:42Well, it's helped him in terms of speed.
19:43Is it going to help him in terms of tire longevity?
19:46Looks like he's on rails.
19:47It does, yeah.
19:48No movement whatsoever.
19:50And now he's going to ask big questions of his opposition, his old foe, his old starring partner.
19:55Bradley Ray up behind him on the McCams Yamaha.
19:58Yeah, these lads have been riding together for the best part of 25 years because they were in minibikes together
20:03as kids like five-year-olds.
20:06Oh, right, not that long ago, just turned 29, the two-time champion.
20:11Brad Ray looking to make a move.
20:12Leon Haslam, likewise, number 91 up the inside there of Scott Redding.
20:17And moves up into third, or does he?
20:19Yeah, that should work.
20:20Yeah, yeah.
20:21Behind them is Ryan Vickers, then Skinner and Kent.
20:24Joe Talbot, the rookie also, in on the action.
20:26He's eight.
20:27As we come round then, it's a start.
20:30Lap three.
20:31A 14.9.
20:33Lap times a 14, which means the pace is already a second quicker than yesterday.
20:39Look at these moves here, James.
20:41That's turn two, and this is into turn three.
20:45Yep.
20:46And it already passed somebody into the chicane at the end of the previous lap.
20:51Brilliant stuff.
20:52Yeah, wow, indeed.
20:54Yeah, well, I'm glad to see he's all right.
20:55He's had a big off this morning in Superstock.
20:58So, it is number one, Kyle Rye, that leads from Bradley Ray.
21:04The two just got a few bike lengths on.
21:05Leon Haslam now in third.
21:08Yamaha has been so dominant in recent years around this circuit at Thruxton.
21:12Yeah, Yamaha's been known, and forever, Yamaha's been known for solid chassis and good mid-corner and good rideability.
21:20And that's always stood him in good stead here at Thruxton, because it's all cornering.
21:23There is no straight here.
21:25They call this a straight, but it actually isn't, look.
21:28No, it's nothing like a straight.
21:29And Bradley Ray, again, has just decided not to go for the move for the time being.
21:33Stays behind Kyle Rye.
21:35Number one, number 28.
21:36Just behind there is Leon Haslam from Reading.
21:39Vickers and Skinner on that last lap had closed the gap.
21:42Yep.
21:43Over the line we go.
21:44And you can see by the amount of rubber that the tyres are depositing on the track.
21:49That's the rear tyres, obviously, as the bike is asked to move forward with the throttle.
21:54And that's, when it rubber's on the track, it's not on the tyre.
21:56And that's what they've got to minimise, really.
22:00The more tyre, the more rubber they've got left on the tyre, at the end, the more grip they're going
22:04to get.
22:04It was a five-year record that Kyle Rye broke yesterday.
22:09The dominance for Yamaha ended by Kyle.
22:1213 wins this year.
22:13Do you know, in his career, he's won 37 races.
22:1613 of them this year alone.
22:19Yep.
22:19And it's just been unstoppable.
22:22Yep.
22:22His championship rival at the moment is in fourth.
22:25Scott Reading, the Hager PM.
22:27What Kyle's, Kyle Rye's kind of progression over the last five years has been just textbook.
22:33And an indication that you cannot learn this in two minutes.
22:38You've got to learn not only the speed, but the strategy how to look after the tyres.
22:42There's a lot in it.
22:43And he's done a better job than I've ever seen anybody.
22:45Yep.
22:45He has indeed.
22:46You can argue, James.
22:47Or maybe you don't argue at all.
22:49He's a world-class rider on British soil.
22:51Yeah.
22:51He got a grand opportunity at 18 to be the world champion's teammate in world supersport on Kawasaki.
23:01And it didn't work for him.
23:02He wasn't ready for travelling.
23:03He wasn't mature enough to kind of get into that lifestyle.
23:06He didn't enjoy it.
23:07He got some result, but not what they thought.
23:09And that's affected his decisions going forward.
23:12But that's been to our benefit.
23:14We've seen this man develop into such a balanced and complete superbike rider.
23:21Absolutely agree with that.
23:21And he's put in another fastest lap as well, a 14.919.
23:25But let's be honest.
23:26Look at him.
23:27The depth of field in BSP at the minute is incredible.
23:31So you've got Kyle Ride that we keep waxing lyrical about at the front.
23:34Then Brad Ray.
23:36For years we were going on about how good he was.
23:38And he still is.
23:39Yes, absolutely.
23:39But maybe not on the perfect best bike this year.
23:43But that happens in careers sometimes.
23:44He's still riding the bloody wheels off it.
23:46He is.
23:47He's doing a great job at the moment.
23:48And Leon Haslam is closest to the pair of them as well.
23:50Then you've got a pensioner.
23:52A nipping at the reels.
23:53Sorry, Leon.
23:54He's a good mate of mine.
23:55And he won't mind me saying it.
23:56But he's in his 40s now.
23:58And still able to do this.
23:59Yeah.
23:5943.
24:00Leon Haslam.
24:02Oh, Bradley Ray there.
24:03Yeah, we'd have a look at the inside a couple of laps, hasn't it?
24:05He wasn't going to...
24:06Oh, Vickers.
24:07Vickers is...
24:08Oh.
24:09They'll lose time there.
24:10But that was a bit of retaliation from Reading on Vickers.
24:12Yes, it was.
24:15Over the line.
24:16Just into the low 1 minute 15s now.
24:19Rory Skinner actually the fastest of the top six on that last lap.
24:23Ryder in 6th place.
24:25He's looking to bridge a half a second gap to Vickers.
24:28Into the complex.
24:29Number 1, Kyle Rye from Bradley Ray.
24:31Is he going to line up a cheeky move here on the inside?
24:34It's possible.
24:35I think it'll be...
24:36Yeah, he does.
24:36There he goes.
24:37Could you see him working that one out?
24:39But he's now got...
24:41No, he's got it.
24:42The drive, he's got it.
24:43That's all right.
24:43Yeah, yeah, yeah.
24:43Nice move from Bradley Ray.
24:45He takes the lead then of this race.
24:47Is that now going to invite Leon Haslam?
24:49He's been warming up into this.
24:51That's 6 of 12.
24:53Problem is, if you carry the ride now, you've got to come up with a little bit of a plan
24:56and have a look at the rider who's just come past.
24:58He knows how he rides.
24:58He's going to see where he's quick and where he isn't.
25:01But you've got to be careful.
25:02You don't get caught napping from behind, in this case, by Leon Haslam.
25:06Yeah, because they don't really need invitations either.
25:08Those that are stuck in behind.
25:09Can Kyle Rye here get the drive then?
25:11Look at Leon Haslam.
25:12It's excellent out of church.
25:13And now he's got the inside line from third to first here,
25:16maybe for the motor torpedo rider.
25:18Bradley Ray is saying, no, you don't.
25:20Even Scott Redding trying around the outside on the Hager PBM Ducati.
25:23That was a 4-1 job, wasn't it?
25:24And Haslam went in a little bit too deep to keep Scott Redding behind him.
25:29And that's cost him time.
25:31This is what we love about Throckster.
25:32It's just brilliant.
25:33It's just brilliant.
25:33It's always been the same.
25:36So Ray from Rye.
25:38Rye now shaping up for a move.
25:40Vickers likewise looking to go through.
25:42And here it is.
25:43The door slightly open.
25:44Kyle Rye through.
25:44How does he get that stopped on time?
25:46Oh, he's not having it, Bradley Ray, at all.
25:48I'm not having it.
25:51Oh, this is brilliant.
25:52And do you know what?
25:53It's also clean racing there.
25:55Side by side, everywhere here.
25:58Fantastic stuff.
25:58You know, that's what was disappointed about Snetting.
26:00They're going into turn one between the two of them, Ride and Ray.
26:03Because there was a little bit of a sort of gnashing of teeth after that one between them.
26:07But actually, they are two of the cleanest riders they're ever going to get.
26:10And do you know what?
26:11This is good fun.
26:12They'll be enjoying this.
26:13No, this is really good fun.
26:14Does it get better than this at Truxton?
26:16Is he lining up a move here into Church?
26:18Kyle Rye.
26:19Thought about it.
26:21Definitely thought about it.
26:22Now watch this.
26:23Tyre spinning out of Church Corner.
26:25Flat out.
26:26Leon Haslam gets the good drive again.
26:28Kyle Rye's got the inside line this time, though, to move through.
26:31Oh, Bradley Ray.
26:32Bradley Ray doesn't want to give it up.
26:34Leon Haslam now, Lee.
26:35Look at Reading as well.
26:37They've got it stopped.
26:40Oh, I love this place.
26:41Oh, God.
26:42Oh, God.
26:43Joe Talbot.
26:45There's others.
26:45Talbot's on the back of this group.
26:47That 8 of 12 we start.
26:50You wouldn't write anybody off in this group.
26:52No, not at all.
26:53Look at Kyle.
26:55That move through turn two.
26:56It's fast.
26:57It's brave.
26:58Haslam leads here.
27:00And Truxton on the motor repeater.
27:01Ducati.
27:02Go wide.
27:02Whoa, straight throw from Kyle.
27:07Unbelievable.
27:08And Ray's back in.
27:09Now Ray is back up into second and Scott Redding is there.
27:12Danny Kent, not far away.
27:14Number 52.
27:15Last year, a double winner here at Truxton.
27:18And you know everybody in that group there has been thinking,
27:20you know, I could just about win this if it falls my way.
27:22Yeah, it's going to fall one way.
27:24That's for sure.
27:256,570 miles an hour.
27:27Elbow down, knee down, and the bike sliding.
27:29I can only imagine what that feels like.
27:31These absolute weapons as they now head through Church Corner
27:35and they're about to wind it up to close to 200 miles per hour.
27:40Into the slipstream again here for Brad.
27:42Which way does he go on Kyle?
27:44He's looking for that inside line.
27:46Leon Haslam, though, coming in again.
27:48Gets such good drive and he's going to nudge it.
27:51Oh, he's got to go wide.
27:52He's got to go wide.
27:53He sent Brad way wide as well.
27:55That's unfortunate for the pair of them.
27:57And Ray's on the green paint and he's lost all of his momentum.
28:00Yeah, he has. That was very unfortunate for Brad.
28:04And that was Leon's mistake.
28:05Went in deep, took him with him.
28:07That way, I've just cost Brad the chance of winning this race.
28:10I think you're right.
28:12So, Kyle Ride it is that now leads from his championship rival, Scott Redding.
28:17And then Vickers in third.
28:20Right, let's just get his best back.
28:23That was team.
28:25There is Joe Talbot just behind Ray.
28:27Have a look at this then.
28:28Right, so Haslam's up the inside of Ray.
28:30Can't get it stopped because he had to miss the back of Kyle Ride.
28:32He's gone wide, taken, and he's kind of bought Brad a couple of times there.
28:37I don't think Brad's going to get penalised.
28:39He dropped a lot of time.
28:40It'd be a bad penalty if he got him for being off track limits there.
28:45Meanwhile, out front, Ride, Reading, Vickers.
28:48Gap then back to Haslam.
28:50After the mess of the club chicane.
28:52Listen, we're not getting at it.
28:54This is easy to do.
28:55You're going in there.
28:56You can't just grab the brake harder and slow down anymore because you'd lose the front.
29:00Well, you've just gone from 200 miles an hour on a superbike to trying to get down to about 55.
29:05Yep.
29:07Three at the front are about to start lap 10.
29:10Well, it looks like...
29:12You know, that second group will have a chance to get back in on this.
29:15Yeah, I believe it.
29:16Yep.
29:16Because these three will engage.
29:18Yep.
29:20Vickers has had an outstanding weekend on that Honda.
29:23Yes, he has.
29:23He has no right to be putting that on the podium.
29:26He's been pushing it.
29:27But we've said that before.
29:28We've said that several times this year.
29:30He's, to me, over...
29:32I'm not saying on any other bike he'd win, but I am saying he's overriding that bike somewhat.
29:37I just saw there the speed track times, but that's in the braking zone.
29:40I wish they'd move that speed track back a bit because it doesn't really give you any indication of...
29:44Yeah, but they do it for different classes of different braking points.
29:48He'd have to be set up completely for BSB.
29:51No further action.
29:52That's the right decision.
29:53Yeah, yeah, yeah.
29:53Good.
29:54From upstairs.
29:55So, they can see.
29:57It's quite obvious.
29:57There is Brad Ray then.
29:59I mean, if he can salvage something after all of that, it would be miraculous.
30:02Let's see.
30:03Graham Irwin has crashed.
30:04Graham Irwin, yeah.
30:05That's over at the complex, unfortunately.
30:07He's all right.
30:08He's up.
30:08Getting a polite round of applause from the fans.
30:11Now then, let's get warmed up here.
30:12We're on lap 10 of 12.
30:13Scott Redding having a big look around there just to know where he is in terms of somebody else.
30:17You don't have five people behind you, but that might just have cost him second.
30:20Yeah, it has.
30:21Through.
30:22Goes Ryan Vickers.
30:23Vickers did well to stop that, you know.
30:25He's a little terrier, isn't he?
30:26He is.
30:27He really is.
30:28He doesn't need a second flipping opportunity.
30:30He's got his ex-teammate up ahead of him, Kyle Ryde.
30:35We've got now a long lap equivalent.
30:37That's for Ilya Mikkelchik, further back in 12th.
30:41This is the penultimate lap of the race.
30:45Kyle Ryde leading from Ryan Vickers.
30:47And you know who's fancying this?
30:49And who'll probably chug more at it than anybody else?
30:52Ryan Vickers.
30:52Vickers.
30:53Yeah, absolutely.
30:54Bradley Ray has just put in the fastest lap of the race.
30:57Is it enough?
30:57A 14.783.
30:59He's there.
31:00He's there.
31:01These guys do engage.
31:02He could.
31:03I mean, this would be some win, wouldn't it?
31:05He's got work to do, though.
31:06That's eight tenths of a second, that gap.
31:10What's Ryan got, then?
31:11Through these right-handers.
31:13Goodwood.
31:13Into village.
31:15Now about to head into church.
31:17Yeah, it's the fastest corner on the British calendar of any circuit.
31:20Absolutely unbelievable.
31:22Look at the speed Vickers has got on the Honda.
31:24He's lining something up here.
31:26He'll move over to the right of Kyle.
31:28Will he know he's going the long way around there?
31:30Kyle's making it difficult for him.
31:31Look.
31:31He knows he's there.
31:32They're now side-by-side on the approach to the chicane.
31:34And Ryan Vickers has gone through.
31:35Can I stop it?
31:36Does he stop the Honda?
31:37He does.
31:38Brilliant.
31:39Oh, he almost loses the front.
31:41Ryan Vickers leads as we start the final lap on the Honda.
31:45Ryde is there as well.
31:46This is one of Ryde's strongest areas in Sector 1.
31:48I don't know whether...
31:50This is going to invite Brad Ray in.
31:51Ryan's gone a bit early there for me.
31:53Oh, this is one of Ryde's moves.
31:55No.
31:56Can he keep it tight into the complex?
31:58Ryde's strong down here.
31:59Yes, he is.
32:00He's going for it.
32:01It's a lunge.
32:01He's got it up.
32:02Oh, Ryan Vickers close the door.
32:05Redding's through as well.
32:06He sits on Kyle and Brad's in it.
32:08In on the action.
32:09This is unbelievable racing here in Truxton and on Bartholet.
32:11I don't know what's going to happen to you.
32:13Oh, my goodness me.
32:15Right.
32:16What?
32:16This is a bit of a gap here.
32:18He has.
32:19But Brad Ray will be ruffled about what happened earlier on.
32:22Yes, he will.
32:23And he wants to put that right.
32:25It's Vickers on the Honda.
32:27From the two Ducati's of Redding and Ryde and then Brad Ray.
32:30Right, this is it.
32:31Is anyone making a move into church?
32:33Not in.
32:34Well, not the lead at least.
32:35No.
32:36Right.
32:37Having a look up the insole.
32:38Are they going to have enough to catch Ryan Vickers?
32:41I don't think so.
32:42This has been an unbelievable race from the Honda man.
32:44He's just got a chicane to get this right.
32:46They're not going to get through him on the slipstream.
32:47They're going to catch him.
32:48Just get it right now.
32:49Into the chicane.
32:51And it looks like he's on the outside.
32:52Brad's coming for it.
32:53He's having it.
32:54And he's taking it.
32:55The chicken flag is out.
32:57Vickers, take a bow.
32:58Take a bow.
33:00He wins on the Honda.
33:01Here at Truxton.
33:03Ahead of Redding and Ryde.
33:04What an unbelievable race.
33:06What a race.
33:07I think probably one of the best I've ever seen in my life.
33:10Honda have their first win at Truxton since Andy Irwin in 2019.
33:14And no one deserves it more than Ryan Vickers.
33:18Yeah.
33:18Agreed.
33:19Wow.
33:19What a ride that was.
33:21What a ride.
33:23Do you know, of everybody in the lead, they all go brilliantly, right?
33:26However, he was nearest to falling down a few times there that I saw.
33:30Lost the front when he took the lead into the chicane.
33:32The front had completely gone.
33:34Oh, my goodness.
33:35What a race.
33:36The race of his career.
33:38Do you know what?
33:39When he came over to Honda, that bike wasn't where it needed to be.
33:42And he's been so humble.
33:43Yep.
33:44He has.
33:44He's never complained.
33:45I'll tell you what.
33:45I'm going to chuck some out of you now, Steve.
33:47If you're going to design a new circuit, please buy a bigger bit of land than you were going to
33:50put a can of a Barcelona into and build their throats.
33:54Absolutely.
33:55Absolutely.
33:57You can't beat this.
33:58You can't beat this.
34:00This is the move for the lead.
34:02Oh, my goodness me.
34:03Right.
34:03Just watch.
34:04This is a pass for the lead.
34:06Down at the chicane.
34:07One minute the wheel's off the floor over a bump.
34:09Look, he's going in.
34:09There's so much break on there.
34:11Watch.
34:12There.
34:12The rear went, the front went, and he's still got it through.
34:15Look.
34:17This is right.
34:20So right goes through underneath Vickers.
34:22Right.
34:23So Kyle tries to get it back, and that gives Scott Redd the opportunity, which was brave.
34:30And you know who's loving this?
34:32Brad Ray loved that last lap.
34:34He could see what he had.
34:35Another lap.
34:36He's got Hargreaves.
34:38Spider.
34:39The whole team.
34:41Oh, it was brilliant.
34:42Good to see.
34:43Badly's got Radio 4 on at this point.
34:46What a ride.
34:47Oh, my goodness.
34:48One of the best PSP rides I've seen.
34:51I doffed my cat.
34:52What a ride that was.
34:53Sensational.
34:53Yep.
34:54Ryan Vickers.
34:57Incredible.
34:57Great race.
34:59Great race.
35:00Woof.
35:01Wow.
35:01We did tell you at the start of the weekend that it could get like this.
35:05It never disappoints.
35:06No, it doesn't.
35:06You're right.
35:07I love Truxton.
35:08Me too.
35:10God.
35:11A sweet tea all round, please.
35:14Yeah.
35:15Look, Mike Winnish is saying you dropped to eight.
35:17He was eight tenths off that front gap.
35:19That was a good ride.
35:20Yeah.
35:21Brilliant.
35:22Outstanding.
35:23And another lap or two.
35:25All right.
35:25He'll be back to have a good go later.
35:28He will.
35:28Oh, Ryan.
35:29Drink this in.
35:30Drink this in.
35:37Amazing.
35:37Yeah.
35:38I'm speechless.
35:42Amazing.
35:43Into Park Vermeer.
35:44Watch these celebrations.
35:51Yes.
35:52Well, I won't even say it's been coming.
35:54We know how hard he's been riding everywhere.
35:56He absolutely fully deserved it.
35:58He didn't get it given.
36:00He rode for it.
36:00He took a lot of risk there.
36:03And to me, that's what racing's about.
36:05I'm proud of you.
36:07Roger Marshall there.
36:08He's been guiding Ryan for some time.
36:11Solid, says Scott Redding.
36:13It's more than solid.
36:16Oh, let's get the results and standings in.
36:19I don't even care about the results and standings.
36:21I'm just trying.
36:23It's just unbelievable.
36:24Ryan Vickers wins on the Honda ahead of Redding.
36:27And Ryan takes fourth ahead of Haslam.
36:29Skinner and Kent were sixth and seventh and not far away.
36:32Joe Talbot, a great job from him.
36:34Eight ahead of O'Halloran.
36:36And Charlie Nesbitt in the top ten as well.
36:38That's nice to see on the tag.
36:39Honda.
36:39Claire Irwin was 11th ahead of Brooks and Mikkelczyk.
36:42Fraser Rogers, 14th.
36:43The final point went to Lee Jackson.
36:45Don't know what happened to Christian Hiddin.
36:46He fell to 16th in that race.
36:50On the championship, things change a little bit.
36:52The gap has come down.
36:54It's 33 points between Kyle Ride and Scott Redding.
36:56Bradley Ray, 93 a drift.
36:58Ryan Vickers has moved up to fifth now, ahead of Max Cook, who's not here, of course, after that crash
37:03from yesterday.
37:04He deserves to be in that top five.
37:06Rory Skinner as well.
37:06Another solid display from him.
37:08He's just 10 behind.
37:09Max Cook in seventh.
37:11Further down through the order.
37:12Joe Talbot, the rookie.
37:13Not far off the top ten now.
37:15He's ahead of Lee Jackson, Danny Kent and Josh Brooks.
37:18Fair of it.
37:22Well, we have got so much more to come.
37:25Another BSB race later.
37:27Super sport drama.
37:28And we'll hear from an amazing race winner, Ryan Vickers, in a couple of minutes when we come back from
37:33the break.
37:38Well, how do you like your bike racing?
37:40That was simply sensational stuff from all of the super bike riders here at Thruxton.
37:45But in particular, that man there, number seven, Ryan Vickers, coming out on top of an absolute epic encounter here
37:51to take his first win of the season.
37:54And what a fight back it was as well from Brad Ray to steal third place from the championship leader,
37:59Kyle Ride, on the final lap.
38:01Let's get his thoughts first.
38:02He's with Shaky.
38:03He certainly is, Matthew.
38:04Thank you very much.
38:05Bradley, what a ride.
38:07Talk us through those last couple of laps because obviously an incident with Leon Aslan, run you off the track.
38:11You came back through, put it on pole.
38:15You're a man on a mission.
38:16I was, yeah.
38:17At the start, I felt comfortable and I could sit behind Kyle.
38:20And to be honest, I wasn't spinning a lot.
38:21So I knew at the end I'd have a bit of tyre.
38:24And, yeah, Leon done a move, run us both wide and then went across the green, back to eighth.
38:29And I thought, it's going to be tricky now.
38:31But started to catch people real quick.
38:33And every time I got to someone, I just attacked straight away.
38:35I didn't care about the exit.
38:36I just wanted to get past them and do that.
38:38And then I got into fourth and thought, right, I've got a chance here.
38:40So I just rode a bit like a demon, was a bit angry from that move and put everything into
38:45that last lap.
38:46I sort of knew into the last corner I needed to go around the outside of Kyle because he defended
38:50really well.
38:50So I just let the brakes off and, yeah, went across the front of him and drove to Lyme.
38:55But, yeah, the boys gave me a good bike, gave me a bike to win that race.
38:58But, yeah, super happy with the performance today.
39:00Can you take that anger into the second race this afternoon, please?
39:03Sure, I will, Uncle Scully.
39:06Second place then.
39:07Coming in now, Scott Redding.
39:09Scott, after a solid ride yesterday, it looked like you played a bit of a different strategy there.
39:14Yeah, sat back in the group.
39:16You're not looking very happy with a second place, to be fair.
39:18I'm happy with second.
39:21It's just hard because you're not really racing, if that makes sense.
39:25You are, but it's like a different strategy.
39:27I was sitting in the group, but I kept coming under attack.
39:29And I'm just like, why are we doing this right now?
39:32You're making my life hard.
39:33And then when push come to shove, I felt better.
39:35I still feel like the bike was not at its best.
39:38But it was better than yesterday.
39:39I was managing it better.
39:42It's just so hard when you're putting it into someone else's hand to dictate the pace.
39:46But I had to try something different.
39:48It was better.
39:50And I clicked sixth down into church.
39:52I hit a bump and my foot hit the gear shifter.
39:55And then it unsettled me into church.
39:57Otherwise, my plan was to get a nice run on Ryan.
39:59I was quite good at a church when I needed to be.
40:02But after I hit sixth, I had to go back two gears.
40:04And it just unsettled me.
40:05So, you know, I'll take second.
40:07And, you know, fair play to Ryan to get the win here with Honda.
40:10Fair play.
40:11Best of luck for the race this afternoon, Scott.
40:13Super.
40:13Thank you, guys.
40:15Right.
40:15This makes me quite happy now.
40:17Scott and Ryan just congratulating each other on a fantastic battle.
40:22Ryan, I know you just won the race and you want to take all the applause.
40:26Quite rightly so.
40:27You put a move on right at the right moment.
40:29And you got the job done yesterday over the moon with a podium.
40:32Today, you've just won your first race for Honda Racing.
40:34How are you feeling?
40:35Yeah, amazing.
40:36Honestly, I was so worried about that sprint race.
40:39I didn't know what the other guys were going to have on a new tire.
40:41And I asked the team what the track temperature was just before I went out.
40:45And it was actually higher than what I thought.
40:47So I thought, right, I think there's going to be a bit of management in this race.
40:50Whereas in warm-up, there was no management needed because of the cooler temperatures.
40:53And I used my head.
40:54I trusted that.
40:55And four or five laps to go, they all started spinning.
40:57I was like, right, come on.
40:58We got this.
40:59And I had a couple of places in mind where I could overtake them.
41:01Scott was being a bit more difficult.
41:04As you see in race one with him and Kyle.
41:05But, you know, we got to the front at a perfect moment.
41:08And I knew if I just did a clean lap, I would have got it.
41:10So it timed out perfectly.
41:13And, yeah, thanks for Honda Racing.
41:14It gave me an incredible bike this weekend.
41:16Thoroughly enjoying it.
41:17It's great to be back at the front.
41:18And, yeah, awesome.
41:20Roll on race three.
41:21Tell me how it felt rolling into pit lane there,
41:23seeing all of the team waiting for you after winning a race for them.
41:25Yeah, incredible.
41:26You know, we've been so many times coming into the garage.
41:29Garage has been silent because we're all disappointed.
41:33And, yeah, extremely happy.
41:35The guys have worked so hard and they all deserve it just as much as me.
41:38So it's a big team.
41:39And, yeah, really happy.
41:41Ryan, you've got one more this afternoon.
41:42Wish you the best of luck for that one.
41:43Thanks, mate.
41:44Cheers.
41:46Well, let's get the thoughts of the team now, then.
41:48The boss is here with us, Scott Hargreaves.
41:49It's been a tough season for you, Scott, as Ryan said.
41:52You've been patient.
41:53There have been kind of these little flashes of moments here and there.
41:56And now you've finally got the win.
41:57How does that feel for you and for the team?
41:59Yeah, it's a great feeling.
42:01I mean, as I spoke to you guys at Alton Park, I think, you know, it's been coming.
42:05We've been building.
42:06The guys have been working impeccably hard, you know, behind the scenes.
42:08So for this today, I mean, it's everything we needed and everything we wanted.
42:12So it's great.
42:12Now, you've got to say, from the start of the season, you know, the bike looked quite
42:16tricky and it just seems to look in nicer and nicer.
42:20Certainly, Ryan seems to sort of maybe got the best of the two presently.
42:24Yeah.
42:24But it just looked, I mean, it looked like such a nice package out there now.
42:28You know, Alton, we saw hints of where it was.
42:30You had some really strong just off the podium for fighting.
42:33So what is it that you've sort of done?
42:35Or is it just lots of little things that have built it up to the stage of where it is
42:39now?
42:40Yeah, exactly that.
42:40I mean, you know, I think there's no clear one thing that we've bolted to the bike or
42:45anything that we've particularly done to fix, you know, the problems that we've had.
42:47But it's been a combination of lots of little tiny bits that we've been working on really
42:51hard, you know, just to try and get them absolute minute details perfect.
42:56And, you know, you showed that it's working.
42:57So it's good.
42:58Over the longer distance yesterday afternoon as well, Scott, Ryan looked in really good
43:01shape towards the end of that race.
43:02So you must be optimistic now about this afternoon as well.
43:05Yeah.
43:05I mean, you know, for us after the race yesterday, Ryan was actually a little bit frustrated,
43:10you know, with the red flag.
43:11I mean, obviously the podium was good yesterday, but he felt that given the distance, he felt
43:14like he got the tyre to go the full distance and potentially win the race.
43:17So we'll see what this afternoon brings.
43:19Good luck this afternoon.
43:20We'll let you go and enjoy your first podium as team manager.
43:23Thank you very much.
43:23Congrats to you.
43:23Cheers, guys.
43:26Here we are then.
43:27It's the podium time here for the top three.
43:30Third for Bradley Ray.
43:31You can just tell, can't you, with that face, he's going to be back for more.
43:35But amazing celebrations here for Ryan Vickers.
43:38That's his first win since Truxton 2024.
43:42So two years ago.
43:45Of course, he moved over to the World Superbike Paddock.
43:47They deserve it.
43:47Scott Hargreaves deserves it.
43:49They've all worked incredibly hard.
43:51Bradley Ray.
43:52Another podium for him.
43:53And hungry and determined to do a couple of places better later.
43:58Perhaps more to come from Reading.
44:00More to come from everyone.
44:01I mean, any one of ten could win the race this afternoon.
44:04You're not going to want to miss that.
44:08Ryan Vickers then.
44:09A winner's trophy for the first time in two years.
44:12And the team boss as well, Scott.
44:13Hargreaves picks up a trophy.
44:15Tie for the national anthem.
44:17And it's a pleasure to have you all joined us.
44:17So now, ladies and gentlemen,
44:19you are strictly for the race winners national anthem.
44:22Ah.
44:23Oh, oh.
44:24Oh, oh.
44:26Oh, oh.
44:30Oh, oh, oh.
44:31Oh, oh.
44:32Oh, oh.
44:32Oh, oh, oh.
44:33Oh.
44:33Oh, oh, oh, oh.
44:41Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
44:46Oh, oh.
44:46Oh, oh.
44:58Well, what a start to the day we've had here at Truxton.
45:02More of the same, please.
45:03Honda and Ryan Vickers back to winning ways.
45:12Great moment for Ryan Vickers, for his family, friends and for the team as well.
45:16And for the fans here at Truxton, who've come out in force and were treated to an absolute humding.
45:21And one of the best BSB races we've seen in a long time.
45:24It always seems to be here as well at Truxton, but there's something about this track that just lends itself
45:28to that kind of racing.
45:29For me, I've been commenting 20-odd years.
45:31That is in the top five races I've ever had the privilege to commentate on.
45:35It was fantastic.
45:37And honestly, a lot of this is down the shape of the track.
45:40Instead of designing modern circuits on a CAD system where everything fits into the smallest bit of space,
45:44buy a bigger plot, a bit further out of town, build a flip in Truxton.
45:48Because it just works.
45:50It does.
45:50Well, it's the beauty of somewhere that has more than one fast line as well.
45:54Yeah, and where there's...
45:55You can just do it.
45:56You can have different lines.
45:57Also, the fact that you've got to think about tyre wear.
46:01There's so many things that come into it.
46:03Slip streaming.
46:04It's wonderful.
46:04Like the old Orcanine.
46:05Exactly.
46:06But also, what we've got here is an extremely talented field.
46:09Yeah.
46:10A very high level at the front.
46:12Yeah.
46:12And all of them prepared to stick their neck out as well and take a huge risk.
46:16All right.
46:16Ron.
46:17Yeah, no.
46:17I mean, very much.
46:18I mean, you've got to time it right.
46:20You've got to be aggressive.
46:21I mean, we saw Ryan there in that last lap.
46:23Coming to the chicane.
46:24The front was folding.
46:25It went twice.
46:25Yeah, the tie went twice.
46:27He caught it on his knee.
46:27This is it coming in now.
46:29It was absolutely unbelievable.
46:31He's come round the outside.
46:32Watch his front.
46:33He's pushing, pushing, pushing.
46:34We're there, unsettles.
46:36And that is, you know, but also that tells me a lot about the feel.
46:39He's getting back off the motorcycle now.
46:41This is the last lap.
46:43Bradley round the outside.
46:44Absolutely pushing it.
46:45I mean, fantastic for them.
46:47And for the neutrals as well.
46:48For Ryan not to be on the podium for once.
46:51You know, it was just three different manufacturers in the top three.
46:54It was a fantastic race.
46:56Yeah.
46:56Do you know, it's one of those where it was one of the best races I've ever commentated on.
47:00But if you'd have had another three laps, it would have been just as good.
47:03And the four laps, it would have been just as good.
47:06But we'll get another eight this afternoon.
47:07Yeah, exactly.
47:08So that's something to look forward to in race three.
47:10Yeah.
47:11Yeah.
47:11The longer distance will require a little more strategy.
47:15But as Ryan said actually there, and I think there was a lot of discussion about this yesterday,
47:19that even over a sprint race distance, even over 12 laps around this place,
47:22you do still have to be a bit careful.
47:24Yeah, you do.
47:24We got the longer race.
47:25Obviously yesterday, just because of the unluckiness of the red flag,
47:29we didn't get to see how that was really going to play out.
47:32Because a lot of guys were not sandbagging, but you're holding your tyre,
47:35you're waiting for those last four laps to go.
47:38Because that's what really counts.
47:40We didn't get to see that.
47:41And a lot of people have, again, worked to make sure they've got a consistent front and rear tyre at
47:46the end.
47:46And Honda have done well, you saw with Brad Yamaha.
47:49He looked good yesterday.
47:50And actually, I felt Brad, if he hadn't have had that moment where he was running off the track,
47:54he was in the hunt for the win as well.
47:56So it was just a really fascinating battle.
47:59But I mean, I just love it.
48:00You're going to love it here.
48:02Sunshine's massive crowd, brilliant racing.
48:04Boom, pretty super bikes.
48:05You've got to think the longer race is going to have more strategy.
48:08I think the 12 lap of the shorter race, more people can do that pace for longer.
48:13But I think you're going to lose a couple out of the back of that group.
48:17But it's still going to be a kind of game of chess to the end and brilliant last three laps.
48:21I guarantee it.
48:22What we've also seen today is that if something untoward happens during the race,
48:26you have got the opportunity to make it back.
48:28Like Bradley Ray did, it looked to all intents and purposes.
48:31Any other circuit, and he would have been out of contention.
48:33Yeah, that's right.
48:34And he really used his head.
48:36Again, this is him getting into the lead and looked comfortable when he was in the lead.
48:42And then this is just where it just goes slightly wrong.
48:45He's on the outside.
48:46And Leon just...
48:47Oh, no, sorry.
48:47This is a lap.
48:48This is before, yeah.
48:49This is a lap before.
48:50Leon getting through to the lead.
48:51Brad in second.
48:52But again, we just kept seeing it here.
48:53This is the lap where Leon just can't get it stopped.
48:56And unfortunately, gets him wide.
48:58And then he kind of...
48:58Pulling up again, really.
48:59Yeah.
49:00I mean, obviously, it's just a racing incident.
49:02It's not sort of anyone's fault as such.
49:04But it cost Brad so much.
49:07And then you know also he's got to use a bit more tyre to make that up.
49:10He's got to really fight with this move on the last lap around the outside to grab that podium.
49:17What did he say?
49:18I was angry by then.
49:19I was riding like a demon in his sports race.
49:21And he was.
49:22And I honestly...
49:24He could have gone on forever doing that and I'd have enjoyed every minute of it.
49:27But I think another lap, maybe two, and Brad would have been even getting put back to eighth
49:32but have been riding them.
49:33Scott, Redding was a little angry as well after the race.
49:36I'm not really 100% sure why he was certainly conflicting emotions, it seemed.
49:41Yeah.
49:41I chatted with him and he said, well, it's not...
49:43Yes, as I said, brilliant race.
49:45You know, you look disappointed, but brilliant race.
49:46He goes, it's not really racing.
49:48And I know exactly what he means.
49:50What he means is if you're in the group, you don't have to be trying that hard at times.
49:54So I know exactly what he means.
49:56But for us, and to be involved in, it must have been good from while it were happening,
50:01but I get what he means.
50:02I love that.
50:03Yeah, I think that...
50:04I think you're seeing just a little bit of frustration there as well.
50:07Because he wants to be winning.
50:10Of course he does.
50:10And he wants those wins.
50:11You can see Cole.
50:12You know, that's good.
50:13He's taken some points out of him.
50:14But he just keeps sneaking away.
50:16And I think that he keeps trying, but it's not quite been happening.
50:19So I feel there's a little bit of that from him.
50:22He's got beaten there by Ryan.
50:23He probably wasn't expecting that.
50:26But whatever you say, it's also, you've got to box clever.
50:28You've got to say a bit of tyre.
50:29You've got to think about it.
50:30There's so many scenarios happening at high speed to get it right.
50:34But we know the class he is.
50:35He's a fantastic guy.
50:36And he's also pulled points back on Kyle Ryde in the championship,
50:39which had to be his main objective today, whatever the result.
50:42Yeah, not too many, but it's the first time it's happened for a while.
50:44So he should be pleased with that.
50:45It's the first time for a while that Kyle Ryde's not been on the podium as well.
50:48Is it the first time this season?
50:50First time this season, yeah.
50:51So it's kind of, so again, this is good.
50:55Yeah, this is good for the neutrals, good for everyone else.
50:57And it's what the championship sort of needed.
50:59And great for Honda.
51:01I'm so chuffed for them.
51:02They worked so hard on a motorcycle that was so difficult at the start of the year.
51:06And it looks really compliant, feelsome, fast.
51:10And it's just a great result.
51:12I don't think Kyle will be too disappointed.
51:14That's a kind of champion's ride that when you can't win, you don't crash train.
51:18And that's exactly, I don't think he'll be too disappointed, mate.
51:20He will be back this afternoon.
51:22So will we from quarter past four for BSP race three.
