00:00Jervon Dexter, who started all 19 games for the Bears a year ago
00:04at defensive tackle, traded to the Falcons.
00:07They get a cornerback and a fifth-round draft pick in return,
00:10but the weakest part of the Bears maybe coming into training camp,
00:16did it get stronger by trading Jervon Dexter?
00:19Can you explain that deal to everyone?
00:21Well, I think that they felt like they have some really good depth there,
00:25and I felt watching camp over the last month plus
00:28that there was a good mix of skill sets, a good mix of experience,
00:33and some younger guys that are coming on.
00:35I think the interior of the defensive line,
00:37the strength is going to be in the numbers there
00:39and the guys that they have that they think can play a role in the rotation.
00:43Now, listen, we've seen a lot, particularly over this past month,
00:46that injuries can be a factor.
00:48And so when you subtract somebody as experienced
00:51and who had played as much as Dexter has,
00:53you have to lean on other guys to kind of make up for, you know,
00:57the hypothetical where somebody gets hurt.
01:00And so you're going to have to keep that depth as solid as it seems right now
01:03and continue to push in that regard.
01:05I want to know a little bit more about their vision for Clark Phillips,
01:08the DB that they got back in the deal.
01:10I thought that it was a decent return to get a draft pick and a player for Dexter.
01:15And now this is a little bit of a bet on development
01:18of some of those younger defensive linemen
01:20for this coaching staff to bring the best out of them.
