00:00You know, I don't know that he has a huge, like, I think you got to look at what the
00:08guy's been given to work with.
00:09And Jalen Phillips, say what you want about his previous production, he's going to have to be, in my opinion,
00:24a significantly better player than he's been previously to earn, to make good on $120 million over four seasons.
00:35In other words, I think it's going to be a challenge for the Panthers to get through this deal with
00:45Phillips and feel like, yeah, we got our money's worth, right?
00:49And obviously that's the nature of free agency a lot of the time, and maybe people don't want to hear
00:56that.
00:56But when you, you know, the Bears have signed some guys to good value contracts, nothing quite in the neighborhood
01:05of what Phillips has gotten.
01:08And I think people are disappointed in some of the results that they've gotten here, you know, last year and
01:14maybe the year before that with some of the defensive players.
01:17I don't know that the answer is always go out and throw even more money at the next guy and
01:24hope that he doesn't bust out.
01:26But with expectations on Dennis Allen, I mean, I look at the defense and he's got some nice parts, but
01:35I don't know how you talk about pressure on him.
01:39I think we need to kind of reimagine how we look at the football.
01:44This is a team that's built to win on offense.
01:47Right.
01:48And you need the defense and you need all three phases to have success.
01:52But they've built this thing to win on offense.
02:00And so from that standpoint, I think the pressure is on the other side of the ball.
02:06And we'll have to see.
02:07I've got real questions about the defensive line.
02:10You know, hat tip to Contavious Street, who gets kind of called out by Dennis Allen for the strong performance
02:19he had in training camp.
02:20And that's great for a journeyman who I think he was on a practice squad to begin last season.
02:28I don't know that that's a great thing for the Chicago Bears when this guy that's on his fifth team
02:35is the player who's getting noted for an outstanding training camp and defensive tackle.
