00:00Hello there, good evening and welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office.
00:05We've had some showers across the UK today, but generally lighter and less frequent compared to recent days.
00:11It stays unsettled through the first week of meteorological autumn.
00:14We see weather systems moving in from the Atlantic, giving spells of rain, particularly across the north and the west
00:20of the UK.
00:21Temperatures, though, a little above average where we do see some sunnier breaks and feeling rather humid too.
00:26Though it has been fresher today, today's showers move out the way and then it's all eyes to the northwest
00:32as the next weather system moves in.
00:33Some outbreaks of rain moving into parts of Northern Ireland, northwest Scotland as we head overnight.
00:39Elsewhere, clear spells, some showers in the west, but most places dry and winds generally light here.
00:45And with a fresher feel out there, it will be a little bit of a chillier start to Tuesday morning.
00:50Temperatures in towns and cities starting off the day between 12 and 14 Celsius, but in the countryside perhaps around
00:568 or 9 degrees.
00:58But some sunny spells across England and Wales first thing.
01:00A wet and windy start across northwest Scotland as this weather system then slowly pushes southeastwards through the day.
01:06Could lead to some tricky travelling conditions at times, reaching parts of Northern Ireland, southern Scotland into the afternoon,
01:12with sunshine and blustery showers following in across the northwest.
01:15Scattering of showers across England and Wales, these largely towards the southwest, one or two of them heavy, so many
01:22places will stay dry.
01:23Best of the sunshine will be across parts of East Anglia, the London area, southeast England,
01:28where temperatures could reach around 22 or 23 Celsius once more, but feeling a little fresher.
01:33Cooler air across northwest Scotland, temperatures here 16 to 18 degrees.
01:37Elsewhere, generally around average, but a little fresh, particularly in the west.
01:42The weather front across Northern Ireland, southern Scotland moves a little further southwards through the evening time into Northern England,
01:48but breaks up into showers, but only to be replaced overnight by further cloud and rain moving in from the
01:54Atlantic.
01:55So a wet night to come across Northern Ireland, western parts of Northern England and Wales, increasing breeze here too.
02:02Clear spells across Scotland, some chilly air here, so temperatures dipping into single figures.
02:07The cloud and the rain and the breeze keeping temperatures up above average around 16 or 17 Celsius across the
02:13west.
02:14Some clear spells across southeast England may lead to one or two mispatches first thing.
02:18So a wet start for Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, Northern England, Wales, the Midlands,
02:23and this heavy rain pushing eastwards through the morning into the afternoon.
02:26There could be some tricky travelling conditions.
02:28Heavy showers then move into parts of Wales, the west country pushing eastwards across the rest of England.
02:34In between, some sunny spells all drawn in on quite a humid southwesterly airstream.
02:39Some showery outbreaks of rain for Northern Ireland, but Scotland generally seeing a dry day,
02:44particularly in the north with some sunny spells through the central belt down into the borders,
02:48reaching some outbreaks of rain through the day.
02:51Temperatures still in the chilly air despite the sunshine in Northern Scotland, 14 or 15 Celsius.
02:56Elsewhere, generally getting into the low 20s, 23 or 24 if we see enough sunshine across southern counties of England,
03:04and a rather humid feel as well.
03:05And that humidity is likely to stay with us as we move through Thursday into Friday.
03:10Temperatures rising a little more, so in any sunnier breaks we'll see temperatures reaching around 24 or 25 Celsius.
03:16But we will see areas of rain continuing to move in from the Atlantic at times,
03:21so expect there to be still some unsettled weather around a rather humid feel,
03:25but then high pressure may start to build in for the weekend,
03:28temperatures returning nearer to average for the time of year.
