00:00On Sunday, December 4th, 2016, in the city of Besançon, France, Narumi Kurosaki was living another day in her new
00:08life as an exchange student.
00:10When she returned to the residence, her routine seemed to continue without any major changes.
00:17But then, around 3.20 in the morning between Sunday and Monday, about 20 students living in the same residence
00:23heard chilling screams and loud bangs coming from somewhere near room 106.
00:30Where Narumi was staying.
00:33They also said those weren't normal screams and that something very bad must have happened in one of the rooms
00:39because it seemed like someone had been attacked.
00:42The next day, the first signs of concern appeared.
00:46Narumi didn't show up to her classes, which was unusual for such a dedicated and responsible student like her.
00:52Although Narumi was not seen again at the residence that December, some messages from her started to reach her family,
00:59friends and professors.
01:02The messages that were sent to her family in Japan were written in Japanese, but they had many spelling mistakes.
01:11Narumi said she had to be away because she was having problems with her passport and she also mentioned that
01:17she had to go to a Japanese consulate.
01:19In Lyon, a city that doesn't have a consulate, only administrative offices, which increased stress and suspicions.
01:28It was then that the police decided to take the disappearance seriously.
01:32And on December 15th, 2016, they inspected room 106 of the Theodore Rousseau University residence, where Narumi lived.
01:42The room appeared tidy and clean at first glance.
01:45Some personal belongings were found untouched.
01:49The experts took samples from every corner of that room and carried out a thorough forensic analysis.
01:56That way, it was determined that it did not belong to Narumi or to people who were usually around her.
02:05Her roommate said that days before her disappearance, Narumi had started to show signs of nervousness and had become more
02:11reserved.
02:13They had also noticed that she was receiving persistent controlling messages.
02:18Narumi was being harassed and threatened by someone, and that someone was part of her past.
02:26A man who was not in France, but in another country.
02:30And we're talking about her ex-boyfriend, a Chilean national named Nicolas Cepeda.
