To tackle air pollution in Delhi, climate engineering company Axelone has deployed multi-functional climate environmental nodes on a pilot basis at Rajghat. Axelone Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Kumara stated that 23 solar-powered smart poles have been installed over the last four weeks. The technology converts traditional streetlights into four-in-one nodes featuring direct air capture filtration to process ambient air and release clean air, alongside a misting system designed to lower particulate matter PM10 and PM2.5 levels. The smart poles also feature security surveillance cameras, public Wi-Fi, and real-time environmental sensors providing pollution metrics every five minutes. Based on mathematical airflow calculations, each pole is estimated to provide clean air for up to two thousand people per day while moving towards a net-zero energy design using renewable power.

00:37because I was always passionate about solving bigger problems and right now around the world
00:44the biggest problem is sustainability primarily on pollution and the water. So I founded this
00:51company four years back. I came to know about India today's solution or our initiative on pollution
01:04ka solution and very happy to kind of talk to you to talk to India today today and more importantly
01:15we will go there and hopefully whatever India today is pursuing on pollution ka solution
01:26becomes a reality very soon. Delhi has got a lot of greenery and in spite of that you know it
01:33is one
01:33of the highest polluted cities around the world so when I you know when I've been spending almost
01:41three months in Delhi and primarily what I have seen is we need a lot at ground level analytics

02:04The new technology implementation is made the first time in Delhi, the first time in India,
02:11the first time in India, the first time in the world and the first time in Delhi.
02:13And glad to have brought it to Delhi so we did testing Rajgatthi. Rajgatthi in the next
02:18Almost last four weeks, we have deployed about 23 poles.
02:24I would call it as the world's first climate environmental node.
02:30Basically, the idea behind that was, you know,
02:33we have all these street lights that don't do anything, right,
02:36except giving you the light.
02:37So what we thought was, primarily cities like Delhi requires
02:41pollution control at street level.
02:44So what we thought was, why don't we convert the traditional street lights
02:48into the urban street lights.
02:50So, if you are watching,
02:53it has got almost four-in-one function built into it.
02:57The primary, biggest function is environmental cleaning.
03:02So it actually tells you,
03:03how many pollution levels are,
03:06and also it tells you how much of pollution reduction
03:09the individual street light has done every day.
03:13So you see the metrics every five minutes, it's real-time data.
03:25We call it direct air capture technology.
03:28Direct air, layman terms,
03:30the air goes through the filtration process,
03:35and the multi-level filtration process,
03:38so you have water from the outside.
03:44And the mist operation, we just added,
03:47looking at Delhi,
03:48the dust levels are increased,
03:50so mist is definitely helpful to reduce your dust levels.
03:53Which are PM10 and PM2.5.
03:58We have security surveillance built into the pole,
04:01and we have solar, this entire pole is solar powered and in future all the
04:07poles will be renewable powered. So technically a net zero pole will be in
04:12future. And also this has Wi-Fi, every pole has got Wi-Fi built into it. In
04:17future our goal is to kind of connect people with the infrastructure that we
04:23will be laying on the ground. So our initial calculations are looking at
04:32the air flow with the fan. So every pole can support clean air to 2000
04:39people per day. So that's a mathematical calculation and we would be happy to
04:45share that with you guys on how we have done the calculations. So that's
04:49assume that every pole gives clean air to 2,000 people per day.
05:01I will show you right now how beautiful it looks in the night.
