00:00Pittsburgh had a high in the 90s, was July 15th, but AccuWeather's Joe Lundberg says that'll change today.
00:06Yeah, we've only done it, what, six times all summer. July 15th was the last time,
00:09and we did it five days in a row from the 30th of June through the 4th of July when
00:13we got to 95 on one of those days.
00:15But since then, the highest has been 86 degrees in the month of August.
00:19The city of Pittsburgh is opening five cooling centers today, tomorrow and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p
00:24.m. at Active Living Centers.
00:26And you can find a cooling center in Allegheny County by calling 211.
00:31Three mosquito samples in Butler County have tested positive for West Nile virus in late August.
00:37These positive samples came from Cranberry Township, Zillian Opal, and Slippery Rock.
00:42So far this year, there have been eight positive tests in Butler County,
00:45and officials are reminding residents the number of mosquitoes can be reduced by eliminating standing water
00:51in places like bird baths and discarded tires or open containers.
00:56The walk to the stage of the 2026 NFL Draft was an amazing moment for Mount Lebanon's Eli Heidenreich,
01:02and as news radio KDK's Paul Alexander reports, the story keeps getting better for the Steelers' seventh-round draft pick.
01:09Considered to be a bit of a long shot to make the 53-man roster, Heidenreich did just that on

01:14And his dad, David Heidenreich, tells KDK's Colin Dunlap that the support locally has been amazing,

01:42Twenty years after Bob O'Connor's death, his son is Pittsburgh's mayor.
01:47And NewsRadio KDKA's Tamyra Rush talked with Corey O'Connor about his father's legacy.
01:52Mayor Bob O'Connor died on September 1, 2006, but his influence is still felt at City Hall,
01:58and especially by the man now sitting in his old chair.
02:01You feel his presence when you're in this office, but then I also think every time I go out in
02:07the neighborhood,
02:07there's a Bob story, or your dad was here, your dad was there.
02:11Corey O'Connor was just beginning his own career in public life when his father died.
02:15Now, as mayor himself, he says he sees parts of his father in the way he leads the city.
02:21You know, when you saw something that was successful, and we do have cleanup crews,
02:25we haven't given them the red-up title yet,
02:28but I think people understand when we're talking about redding up and cleaning up, it dates back to him.
02:35I asked the mayor what he would say to his dad if he had one more chance to talk to
02:39him.
02:39The question brought an emotional response.
