03:22Tonight, welcome to the Fro Wrestling Podcast.
03:25We are going to go through a variety of topics tonight, and here's the thing.
03:30I got a little bit of flack because I didn't do like snap reaction videos to AEW All In and
03:35NXT Heat Wave.
03:37Guys, I'm an educator by trade.
03:39It's the first day of school for my students coming up on Monday.
03:42It's been a busy weekend getting ready for that.
03:44So now I'm finally getting around to it.
03:46I apologize for the delay, but if you are a diehard of my show, which if you are, I
03:50appreciate you so much, then you got to understand, man, every once in a while, I got something
03:53in the real world I got to take care of.
03:55So that's what's been going on the last couple of days.
03:57That being said, let's talk a little bit of All In because news broke after the show.
04:01The big conversation of the show is one of a few things.
04:04For me, the biggest thing was the arrival of the new level, formerly the New Day, Austin
04:09Creed and Kofi showing up in AEW.
04:12And before we get into AEW All In just a little bit, and I'll be very clear, I'm not going
04:17to do like this in-depth deep dive thing.
04:19I'll give you my reactions, snap reactions, whatever you want to call them.
04:22The biggest thing for me was after the fact.
04:24They've done some interviews now since going to AEW talking about how the WWE contract that
04:30they were offered was not just a 50% pay cut.
04:33It was a more than 50% pay cut.
04:36And they took a chance to leave millions on the table.
04:38Listen to that phrase, leave millions on the table to bet on themselves and go elsewhere.
04:44That tells me that this contract that WWE offered is a substantial contract.
04:49If we're talking about millions of dollars across a multi-year deal, that's a lot of money.
04:53That also tells you what kind of cojones they've got to go out and try to do this on the
04:57road.
04:58So, that being said, mad respect to the new level.
05:01Mad respect to Austin Creed and Kofi.
05:03It's going to take a little while to get used to that.
05:05If you didn't see the press conference after All In, where Kofi accidentally slipped up and
05:08called him Woods, I found that completely hilarious.
05:11I thought that was awesome.
05:13But all things being equal, I think this is a great move for them.
05:16And I think they're going to slip right into the fray pretty solid.
05:19And they're going to have a great role in that tag team division.
05:22That being said, let's talk some All In real briefly.
05:26First off, let's talk about their match.
05:28Love the fact that they came out, were a part of the trios with Swerve.
05:31We knew that was coming.
05:32Prince Nana at ringside with them.
05:34They win the trios championship.
05:36And really, if you look at the match, who else is going to win?
05:38You know, for real, I love Bandito and Brody King.
05:44But they really do better in singles unless they're going to just be a tag team.
05:49This six-man thing was never a good thing with Adam Page.
05:51Anyways, Page needs to be in the singles division going for big championships.
05:55And if he can't go for the world, it's not like Tony Khan hasn't made enough of him to do
05:58something else.
05:58So you had to get the belts off of them.
06:00I really think if you buy into anything Ricochet said over the last several years,
06:05complaining about his role in WWE before he went to AEW,
06:08he probably doesn't want to be a tag team wrestler either.
06:10You've got to do something to get him out of there.
06:12All the other teams didn't make sense to give the championship to.
06:14So once they debuted, even before they debuted,
06:17I think everybody knew whoever was coming out with Swerve was winning.
06:20And of course, that's what happened.
06:21I had no problem with it.
06:22I'm going to bounce around a lot because I apologize.
06:24It's been a little while since I watched everything in order.
06:28So if I go out of order, it is what it is.
06:31Deal with it.
06:31I'm going to address things from an interest perspective for me.
06:34First off, the Brawling Birds defeating the Divine Dominion.
06:37It was time in their home area, so to speak.
06:40That was beautiful.
06:41Thought it was fantastic.
06:42Hard-hitting match.
06:43Every match on this card was amazing.
06:45Darby Allin topping Kevin Knight.
06:47I hated that.
06:49I really did.
06:49Here's a guy who was the AEW World Champion for a hot minute,
06:54was defending his butt off,
06:55and then he just never goes back after that
06:57and now switches to the TBS Championship.
06:59Now, if AEW had one of those rules
07:01where you cash in their TNT title,
07:05if you cash in a TNT title to get a world title shot,
07:08I'm all for that.
07:09But if that's not the case,
07:11if you lost the World Championship in anything,
07:14wouldn't you want to go back and get it back?
07:16Wouldn't that be your top priority?
07:18And in AEW, it just doesn't seem to happen.
07:20These guys take these offshoot sidebars,
07:22go into other programs,
07:23and never seem to get back to the top of the mountaintop.
07:25And it never makes sense to me.
07:27I'm not a big fan of it at all.
07:30Andrade winning the Casino Gauntlet Battle Royal
07:33thought that was really solid.
07:34I was surprised.
07:35I actually thought MJF was going to win.
07:36I'm glad he didn't.
07:37I want to see Andrade in a world title program.
07:40I don't know that you'll put the title on him at all,
07:42just because of the history and some of the other stuff.
07:44But he is doing some of the best work of his career right now.
07:47I'm glad he's getting an opportunity to really showcase himself.
07:50And I thought it was done so perfectly.
07:53It really was.
07:53It was a great match.
07:54The Cajun Cope defending against the Young Bucks.
07:57Again, solid match.
07:58Wasn't like match of the year candidate.
08:00I think some people really would have preferred
08:02to have like FTR in this too
08:03and make it a TLC match of sorts.
08:07Speaking of, after Cajun Cope retained the championship,
08:10which I actually did not expect.
08:12I actually thought they'd give it to the Bucks
08:13so Adam Copeland could go have his retirement tour
08:16heading into October.
08:17But after they beat the Bucks,
08:18the Bucks are still in the ring.
08:20FTR comes out.
08:21Motor City Machine Guns comes out.
08:22And the new level who just won the trios titles.
08:25And it's very clear that the tag team division in AEW
08:28is pretty, pretty solid.
08:30That was exciting.
08:31No idea where they're going to go from here,
08:32but I'm sure Cajun Cope are thrilled
08:33to be working with so many great teams
08:35and having so many opportunities
08:37for some of these, these dream matches.
08:39Maya World defended the TBS championship
08:42against Persephone.
08:43She loses the championship
08:45based on some interference
08:46by the returning Britt Baker,
08:48who in the, the follow-up to the show,
08:52when she was being interviewed,
08:53said that the reason she was off
08:55at the end of 2024 is because she chose to.
08:57She had her own situation she was working through,
08:59which kind of surprised people.
09:00Everybody's been blaming Tony Khan in the home time.
09:02And it turns out that she had an influence in 2024.
09:05Now that does not mean
09:05that there wasn't a conversation with Tony Khan
09:08since then, 2025, early 26.
09:10Why she never came back.
09:11She, apparently she had been mentioned sometimes,
09:13but just, it never came together.
09:15Glad to see her back.
09:16I hope they really showcase her
09:17like they did when they first opened the company.
09:19We'll have to wait and see how that all plays out.
09:22One of the ones that really tugged at my heartstrings,
09:24and I already knew who was going to win,
09:25but it was really a shame to me.
09:26Nigel McGinnis loses to Jon Moxley.
09:29Moxley retains the continental championship.
09:31I really wanted McGinnis to win this.
09:33I really, really did.
09:34Not that I expected it,
09:36because Moxley is who Moxley is,
09:38and the fact that McGinnis is injured,
09:40a legit injury,
09:41but I really, really wanted to see him get this.
09:44This would have been like a whole,
09:46imagine him in England winning that championship
09:49over such an amazing opponent.
09:51I really think they dropped the ball with that one.
09:53I would have preferred to see Nigel McGinnis,
09:55but if he is indeed injured,
09:56he's got to recover and do whatnot,
09:57because he's still going to wrestle sporadically from here and there,
10:00but I love that he got a chance to perform again in front of his home crowd.
10:03Beautiful, beautiful thing.
10:07Okada winning the international championship from Kyle Fletcher
10:10via a match with also Konosuke Takeshka.
10:14This match, I'm sorry,
10:15this was one of the best matches I have seen in a long, long time.
10:22These three guys,
10:23you know, Okada actually, oddly,
10:25the guy who wins the match, not as much,
10:26but Takeshka and Fletcher
10:28are two of the greatest wrestlers in the world right now,
10:31and they are young.
10:32They're going to be doing this for a hot minute,
10:34and I really hope AEW doesn't mess up what they've got here.
10:38Kyle Fletcher,
10:39I don't know how long his contract is for,
10:40but whenever it's up,
10:42WWE is going to want to talk to him,
10:44and they're going to want to match some serious offers,
10:46because that kid has got mad skill.
10:48Takeshka's the same thing,
10:49except I don't know that WWE will go,
10:51you know,
10:52you know,
10:52trekking him down as harshly,
10:54because, you know,
10:55they always have a bad rap with the way they book Japanese wrestlers to begin with,
10:59so we'll have to see how that plays out,
11:00but the match itself is fantastic.
11:04Mercedes-Monnaie defeating Willow Nightingale
11:05for the Women's AEW World Championship.
11:08It's about time.
11:09I thought she'd have done it the first year she was there.
11:11I'm glad they held off,
11:12because it means more now.
11:13She did come out of the match with an injury.
11:15So Mercedes is hurt now.
11:17So something with the women's divisions in both companies right now.
11:20Mercedes gets hurt.
11:21We had Toni Storm get hurt early in the year.
11:23You got Rhea Ripley's injured.
11:25Liv hasn't been defending.
11:26Worth a darn.
11:27Stephanie Vacura was hurt for a long time.
11:30Chelsea Green is injured.
11:32Like,
11:32all these injuries,
11:33it's kind of obnoxious.
11:34The poor ladies,
11:35man.
11:35But I thought this was the right move.
11:37It was time to put it on Monet.
11:38You know,
11:39you're paying her millions of dollars a year to be there.
11:41That makes her have to be your top performer.
11:44And of course,
11:45the Ospreay Omega match was everything that any diehard wrestling fanatic could ever beg to see.
11:52The finish was absolutely insane between the one-winged angels and the,
11:57just all the false finishes,
12:00the one-count kickouts,
12:02all of it.
12:03And then to see Will Ospreay in Wembley win the AEW World Championship,
12:08absolutely emotional,
12:09fantastic stuff.
12:10Loved everything about it.
12:11He deserved this.
12:12He's waited his time.
12:14The plans apparently have been in place for over a year for this to be the trajectory that they were
12:18going on.
12:18That's kudos to Tony Khan for long-term booking.
12:20And I just hope that they do something fabulous with this reign.
12:24Obviously,
12:24he'll face Andrade because he earned that championship opportunity.
12:27I'm sure he's got a litany of other guys they've got lined up for him.
12:30But I'm going to throw this little caveat out there because the Hurt Syndicate was on the pre-show,
12:36the kickoff show,
12:37picking up a win with Big Boom AJ and stuff like that.
12:40I'm really just dying for Bobby Lashley to get a main event singles championship program.
12:46I really am.
12:47And maybe Will Ospreay is a good guy to do that with.
12:50Because I don't necessarily need Bobby to win it.
12:52I would love it if he did,
12:53but I don't really need him to do that.
12:54I want Ospreay to have a nice long reign.
12:56But you've got to feed him some opponents.
12:58And they've got to be top-tier opponents.
13:00This can't be the Kevin Knights and Speedball Mike Baileys every week.
13:02It's got to be studs to make his reign meaningful.
13:06And Bobby Lashley is certainly a credible opponent.
13:08Somebody could really give him a run for his money.
13:09I hope they think about that when they're planning his next feud.
13:12Got to address one other thing from the same day.
13:14Heat Wave,
13:15NXT Heat Wave was an interesting show to me.
13:18So much going on.
13:19I couldn't care less about the submission match.
13:21Jada Parker beating Natty Neidhart.
13:23It is what it is.
13:23The Zarya defeating Wren St. Clair and unifying the Speed and Women's North American Championship
13:28totally made sense to me.
13:30Zarya is main roster ready.
13:32I don't know why they haven't moved her there already.
13:34Maybe because Sol Ruka just moved up and they feuded already.
13:37Maybe they want to give him some time.
13:38I'm not thrilled with the whole Vanity Project winning the tag titles from Miles Bourne and
13:44Tavion Heights.
13:46But I guess they needed that to lead into what was going to happen later in the evening.
13:50Now they lost their championship and then Miles Bourne defends his North American Championship
13:54against Jackson Drake and ends up losing that championship.
13:58So bad night for Miles Bourne who ends up going heel and attacking Tavion Heights.
14:03Not a big fan of that.
14:05But is what it is.
14:06I mean, you got to advance his character and the main roster is going to need monster heels.
14:10He's somebody who can pull that role off.
14:12Tavion Heights now will have a great feud for the next several months.
14:15So this could be pretty exciting.
14:17Kalani Jordan beating Kendall Gray.
14:18Look, I love Kalani Jordan.
14:20She's incredibly talented and she deserves the NXT Women's Championship.
14:23However, I think Kendall Gray is the future of the women's division.
14:26I did not need her to lose the championship yet.
14:28I think this may have been jumping the gun a little bit.
14:30And if you really wanted to put it on Kalani at some point, have somebody in between.
14:35Have Kendall Gray face a few other opponents so she gets a little bit longer reign before
14:40she loses to Kalani Jordan.
14:41Now, it is what it is.
14:43They're both talented ladies.
14:44Maybe there's a move to the main roster for Kalani Jordan in the near future.
14:47I hope not.
14:48We already have Lola Vice coming up.
14:51You only got so much room and so much TV time because you spend so much time on commercials.
14:56So I guess it is what it is.
14:58Happy for Kalani.
15:00Really would have liked to see Kendall retain.
15:01The biggest issue I took though with Heat Wave is when you bring out Tony D, Zilla Fatu,
15:07Cruz Montana and have them all lose to NXT returnee Grayson Waller and he wins the NXT Championship.
15:15Unless you're planning to transition him back to the main roster in six months and make him
15:19a megastar, I don't understand what you're doing.
15:21Now, if the long-term plan is for Grayson Waller to return to the main roster to feud
15:25with Austin Theory, I get it.
15:28You want to get him some credibility because Austin Theory is in such a good position right
15:31now, but they're both heels.
15:32And what are you going to do?
15:33Have Grayson Waller steal Maxine Dupree and that be their storyline to turn Austin Theory
15:38baby face?
15:39Because that's the only thing I could see working.
15:41Otherwise, you got heel on heel action.
15:42And these guys, no one's going to care about either one of them in their current state.
15:45So, Heat Wave, solid show.
15:47Okay, let's go back to all in.
15:49Five out of five stars.
15:50Highest rating I've given any show all year.
15:52There was nothing really bad in any of it.
15:54I don't necessarily agree with every booking decision, but the matches are phenomenal.
15:58The storylines are phenomenal.
15:59Great show top to bottom.
16:00Heat Wave, tons of title changes.
16:03I get it.
16:04Every once in a while you're going to freshen things up.
16:05I'm cool with that.
16:06I just wish they would have told a few more stories before they changed so many titles.
16:10The show is solid, though.
16:11On a scale of one to five, I would say maybe three and three-quarter stars.
16:14You know, decent show, but great weekend of action.
16:17I hope you got to check all of it out.
