00:00Well, Mohamed Haghazi is Egypt's former assistant foreign minister.
00:05I think it is very important due to the fact that we are living in a world where disarray and
00:13conflict give us the opportunity countries of certain weight like China and Egypt to discuss further, not only to exchange
00:25views, but to find solutions.
00:27And I think the two diplomacies will work together with their credibility and link with all parties to bring some
00:36wisdom to the current situation where the international order requires support and credibility and active diplomacy,
00:47heading for calling to adhere to international legality and support to the principles of non-aggression and change of position
00:59that safeguard peace and security worldwide.
01:02Now, in the past, President el-Sisi and President Xi have talked a lot, haven't they, about Egypt's Vision 2030
01:10working alongside China's Belt and Road Initiative.
01:15Ten years after Xi's last state visit, how successful do you think the alignment between the two has been?
01:22I think it's a steady growth to a relation that is based on mutual respect and historical ties and civilizational
01:32links.
01:33China and Egypt relations has proven very useful.
01:38Egypt in 1956 was the first country to recognize the Republic of China and the entry of China to the
01:51UN in the 70s was based on the many countries
01:54countries that followed Egypt's support to the people of China who have proven to be a very instrumental party to
02:06the UN system and to peace and stability.
02:09And since that, 70 years back, our relations went on in achieving the goals of both parties.
02:19And now we can claim that we have an important, profound strategic partnership that is based on mutual respect and
02:32adherence to international law
02:34and respect also to both interests and national security goals.
02:42Egypt respected the one China policy and Taiwan being an integral part of China.
02:49At the same time, China respect Egypt common interest, particularly in the nine,
02:57where the common declaration that has been issued like hours ago affirming adherence to Egypt's interest in protecting its water
03:11resources
03:12as the Nile represents the sole guarantor to Egypt's existence.
03:18So that I think this very important mutual respect to one another and their mutual respect to their national and
03:28national security goals in particular,
03:31the one China and the Nile represents again another wave of the 70 years of important relations based on mutual
03:43interest.
