00:02The jury in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial returns this morning for a fifth day of deliberations.
00:07That's after telling the judge Tuesday it could not reach a unanimous verdict.
00:12Jurors reported they were deadlocked after four days of deliberations,
00:16but Judge William Sullivan sent them back to keep trying,
00:20pointing to the length of the trial and the amount of evidence they've been asked to consider.
00:24I brought you back out because I know that this was a long trial, all right?
00:31I know there were over 80 witnesses. There were over 300 exhibits.
00:37But because of that, I'm going to ask you to go back out,
00:41keeping in mind all the instructions that I gave you to go out and to continue your deliberations at this
00:49time.
00:50The jury deliberated for about five more hours before asking to go home for the day.
00:55Outside court, Clancy's attorney, Kevin Reddington, says he's not reading much into the deadlock.
01:01I don't know that it's a good sign or a bad sign or any sign.
01:04It's that they're working hard to try to come to a decision.
01:08Clancy does not deny killing her three young children in their Duxbury home in 2023.
01:12Her defense argues she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible.
01:19Prosecutors say she was not psychotic and planned the killings.
01:23The case has also drawn supporters of Clancy to the courthouse, many wearing pink,
01:28who argue she was failed by the mental health care system.
01:31The Massachusetts system, health care system, failed Lindsay.
01:37She reached out for help multiple times.
01:40She told them that she was having thoughts of harming her children and harming herself,
01:43and she was turned away countless times at countless locations.
01:46While jurors returned this morning, if they still cannot reach a unanimous verdict,
01:51the judge can eventually declare a mistrial.
