Lot chose Sodom guided by his eyes, drawn by a fertile, prosperous, and seemingly perfect valley. However, when the city was destroyed under divine fire, he ended up taking refuge in a cave in the mountains, without a wife, without sons-in-law, and having lost everything. The only thing he had left was his immediate family, exactly what he would have kept if he had never moved away from Abraham.
