00:00Patrick Clancy speaks out after hung jury in Lindsay Clancy's case, addresses prospect of
00:05another trial. Patrick Clancy broke his silence after a mistrial was declared in Lindsay Clancy's
00:11case, saying the prospect of enduring another trial over the killings of their three children
00:16is extraordinarily painful. Patrick Clancy is grateful to the court and to the jurors for
00:22their hard work, their commitment, and their perseverance. The loss of Patrick's children
00:27is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure,
00:31his attorney, David Meyer, wrote in a statement issued on Patrick's behalf.
00:36The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful for
00:42Patrick, for his family, and for all of us, the statement concluded. Patrick Clancy has previously
00:48asked the public to forgive his ex-wife, who has admitted killing their three children,
00:52five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson, and eight-month-old Callan. Her attorneys have argued
00:59she was legally insane due to postpartum psychosis. During the trial, Patrick Clancy testified about the
01:06day of the killings on January 24, 2023. The children were killed while he was running errands
01:12that included picking up children's stool softener at a CVS store and takeout for dinner. They even
01:18spoke on the phone while he was out. On Friday afternoon, Judge William Sullivan declared a
01:23mistrial in the high-profile murder case after jurors said they were unable to reach a unanimous
01:29verdict. It will now be up to prosecutors whether Clancy will be tried again. The jury spent a week
01:34deliberating at Plymouth Superior Court in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where supporters and onlookers
01:40gathered outside for days awaiting a possible verdict. The mistrial followed an alleged 11-to-1 divide
01:47among jurors, with Clancy's defense arguing that the lone holdout juror had acknowledged doubt but
01:52was refusing to properly apply the court's instructions on reasonable doubt. The alleged
01:58holdout is believed to be one of the three male jurors. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington repeatedly
02:03referred to the unnamed juror as a male inside and outside court. Clancy's attorneys made an emergency
02:10appeal to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in an attempt to stay the mistrial and force further
02:16inquiry into the juror. Justice Delilah argues Wenlin denied the request Friday afternoon, and shortly
02:23after, Sullivan declared a mistrial. Sullivan said he wants the case retried sooner rather than later,
02:30suggesting a new trial could potentially take place later this fall. Clancy is due back in court September
02:3629th for a status hearing, trial assignment, and a defense rule 25 motion.
