00:01Hello and welcome. Good evening. You're watching Super 6 here on India Today. I'm Makshita Anandha Gopal and this Monday
00:06evening we'll be getting you a roundup of all the top stories of the day over the next 60 minutes.
00:11As always, we keep our focus on the big southern stories of the day. So what have we got in
00:17store for you on this edition of Super 6?
00:20We'll be talking about Chief Minister Vijay's speech in the Tamil Nadu Assembly today, lashing out at the DMK on
00:27the issue of law and order, on the issue of corruption, on the issue of personal attacks on women. Chief
00:33Minister Vijay lashed out at the DMK on all of these issues. Uden India, of course, has said that this
00:38is once again a filmy speech. So was it too filmy or was it a fiery political attack?
00:44That's what we're going to be talking about in this edition of Super 6 as we'll get you some of
00:48the highlights of what really was brought up in the speech by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. Also coming up
00:54on the show at 6.30 this evening from one assembly to another in Telangana. Drama that played out. As
01:00you can see there, KT Rama Rao was detained after the BRS led a black shirt protest outside the Telangana
01:08assembly. We'll get you all of those reactions, what triggered the showdown and much, much more in this edition of
01:13Super 6.
01:13We'll begin with the headlines.
01:19After 27 hours, rescue operation at Delhi building collapse site concludes. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta orders big MCD crackdown.
01:28Five officials, including Deputy Commissioner, axed to owe a PG collapse incident.
01:40Delhi High court calls for high-level probe into building collapse, says MCD, DU also responsible for tragedy. High court
01:48calls the tragedy most unfortunate, says government cannot escape responsibility.
01:57Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay engaged in a fierce face-off against opposition DNK in assembly, addresses allegations of corruption,
02:04women's safety and law and order.
02:11At Ajitak Suraksha Sabah, Chief of Defence Staff, General NS Rajasubramani, says modern warfare can reach far beyond front lines,
02:20says India must build multi-domain capacity, resilience and self-reliance to stay prepared.
02:26Stay tuned for Defence Minister Rajanath Singh at 7pm.
02:32Ram Mandir's newly appointed CEO, retired air marshal, Jutendra Mishra, speaking to India today, says, takes questions on faith and
02:41signs of the key event with Jair Sriram.
02:59For the last many days in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, we've been seeing attacks by the DMK at the TVK,
03:05raising questions on law and order, raising questions on allegations of corruption.
03:09And today, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay responded in a 90-minute speech where he lashed out at the DMK
03:16on law and order,
03:17drawing comparisons essentially, suggesting that the TVK is doing everything they can to crack down on law and order.
03:23The police has been given a free hand. He's also said essentially that whatever allegations come, even if it's with
03:28a political motive, we will look into it.
03:30But it's on the issue of corruption that we saw the most heated face-off with Chief Minister Vijay naming
03:36Uday Nadi Stalin,
03:37going ahead and even naming Kalainir Karnanadi, referring to the Sarkarya Commission, referring to an ED file and saying all
03:43of this is just a sample of a DMK file that the TVK is bringing together.
03:49How did the DMK choose to respond?
03:51Well, first they staged a walk-out from the Assembly and after that Uday Nadi Stalin said that this was
03:55nothing but a filmy dialogue once again parroted by Chief Minister Vijay in the Assembly.
04:01He also responded in detail on the other allegations which we'll get to in just a bit.
04:05First, take a look at what Chief Minister Vijay said, some of those highlights.
04:11political decency and decorum at least to an extent.
04:14Well, that's all they said.
04:58This is not a team, this is not a team, this is not a team.
07:22It is also ascertained that political people
07:27around Coimbatore, Karur and other district insisted and collected party fund from the bar owners
08:05and they are mentioned as...
12:56Hi.
13:52So you've heard from both sides.
13:53From Chief Minister Vijay and the Leader of Opposition.
13:56Let me open this up.
13:57Joining us on this broadcast is Sashi Rekha, TVK spokesperson, Mr. Murali Krishnan Chinadurai, political analyst and Sandhya Ravi Shankar,
14:05CDA journalist.
14:05Sandhya, I'd like to begin with you.
14:08What do you think of the Chief Minister's speech?
14:10You know, many are deeming it as far too filmy, that it had too many punch dialogues and that this
14:15is not the place, the assembly is not the place for this kind of a speech.
14:18What did you think?
14:18Well, definitely the punch dialogues are sort of, you know, going a little overboard as far as the TVK is
14:27concerned in the assembly.
14:28But there is a very important message in what the Chief Minister spoke today.
14:35And that is that he is trying to make the politics of Tamil Nadu a bipolar politic between DMK and
14:44the TVK.
14:45So the AI, DMK and the other political parties that are currently present in the Tamil Nadu political landscape, all
14:53of them are sort of being ignored or pushed to the background by Vijay.
14:57And I think this is his political strategy playing out in the assembly session.
15:05I do agree with the LOP that he did not really answer most of the questions that he had been
15:11asked previously.
15:11What would you have liked him to address?
15:12What were the issues that you feel you should have spoken about?
15:15Well, frankly, there are problems in terms of power cuts in Tamil Nadu.
15:21There are problems with milk production.
15:23We are not getting enough milk in Tamil Nadu.
15:26And of course, the TASMAC issue is an evergreen issue that has not been resolved yet.
15:31So a lot of, you know, questions that have gone unanswered.
15:36And it would be great if the TVK dialed back a little bit on the rhetoric and, you know, focus
15:42a little more on governance.
15:44Let's take that to the TVK.
15:46Sashi Rekha, ma'am, was this, you know, a whole lot of filmy drama and nothing more?
15:52Could this have had more substance than the chief minister's punch dogs, which I know are a hit?
15:56I know it's a super hit and that's clear in the viewership.
15:58But beyond that, was there a need for more material, for more substance?
16:04Good evening, all.
16:06No, this is the elected government.
16:08We got 108 seats as given by the Tamil Nadu public in general.
16:14Then how it goes to be a dramatic scenes or a punch, not at all like that.
16:19No, no, so the mandate is very different, ma'am.
16:21Yes, you've got the mandate.
16:23The chief minister is there for a reason.
16:24He is the chief minister for a reason.
16:26But the question is about the speech itself.
16:29No, not like that.
16:31As per TVK government and as per our CM Vijay, sir, it's a law is supreme.
16:35As always, we feel like that.
16:37That is, law is supreme.
16:38All are equal before law, whether it might be DMK or all other oppositions or whatever it might be.
16:45We are facing the things in the assembly.
16:48That is what the LOP, Mr. Uday Nidhi, has raised the questions three days back.
16:53That is what our honourable chief minister expressed the things today at assembly.
16:58It's all what had been happening here before, from the day one, that is.
17:03Beyond these things, what CM Vijay, sir, spoke,
17:06I think and I realised, I strongly believe that we have to spoke about the corrections of DMKs
17:12from the, after Peri Ringer Arna's sad demise, that the founder of DMK,
17:18Peri Ringer Arna started the DMK, Dravidar Munnetra Karagam,
17:21as per the policies of duty, dignity and discipline.
17:25That is, that should be changed over by the Karuna Anidhi spirit,
17:29after Arna's sad demise, 1969, we have to speak.
17:31No, sir, so on the issue of corruption, ma'am.
17:33One second, one second, one second.
17:33There's a reason that you've been voted to power,
17:35because people understood that these were the problems.
17:38Let me finish, let me finish.
17:40We have to start the things about DMKs now.
17:43Let's start about the day one, that is after Peri Ringer Arna's sad demise,
17:471969, that is from Sarkarya Committee and from the Viranam Project
17:51and from the 2G issues and all the things we have to speak.
17:55That is what is fiery speech expressed today.
17:57DMK is always, Peri Ringer Arna's duty, dignity, discipline is turned to,
18:01after in the periods of Karuna Anidhi and Stalin and now in the LOP of Uday Anidhi.
18:05That is changed into commission, collection, corruption.
18:08All will be, all the peoples, all the people, general public in Tamil Nadu has accept these things.
18:13That is what happened in last five years, 21 to 26.
18:15No, but the people have given the mandate.
18:16They have given video, video, video has to turn into commission, collection, corruption.
18:20That is what CM's fire speech expressed.
18:22That any punches that was, so what, nothing wrong, nothing wrong.
18:26In between, we have to speak about the things.
18:28Using punches wrong, anything, anything wrong is that?
18:31Okay.
18:31Mr. Murali Krishna, your view that, you know, the Chief Minister is exposing DMK's crimes,
18:36and there is nothing wrong with a few punch dialogues been throwing in them?
18:42See, actually, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, you know, disrespected the assembly,
18:49and disrespected the people of Tamil Nadu today.
18:54He, the most of the, you know, speeches are very rhetoric, you know, flimsy and dubious.
19:01That's what, you know, we need to see in that way,
19:04because the, it is not a thing which is happening on 1976 or thing.
19:11This is a 2026, which is on demand for grant, which is happening on 2026.
19:16The responsible Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu should address the real-time issue of what is currently,
19:25you know, currently happening in Tamil Nadu,
19:29how he is going to mitigate, what is the financial conditions,
19:32how they are allocating the funds to the, to mitigate these kind of things, you know,
19:37whatever the things, LOP and EPS, whoever it rise in the assembly,
19:42he is, must, he is, and he must be responsible to answer those questions,
19:49because they are also people of, you know, they are also people of,
19:52people of representative as well.
19:55Not only Chief Minister Vijay, because of Chief Minister, he is not solely representative of people.
20:00What were the issues the DMK raised to the assembly? They raised law and order?
20:04They, they were, they, they were, they were, they were, not only, I am not talking about only DMK,
20:11I am talking about the people, those who are in the assembly, raised against the Chief Minister,
20:16raised against the current government. I am talking about all, all law and order problems.
20:21You know, in the, in the city, Chennai city and nearby city.
20:25Sir, that the Chief Minister did speak on, he spoke on crime, he spoke on law and order.
20:28It is not spoken out, it is not spoken out, it is not spoken out, hold me, hold, hold on,
20:33hold on again.
20:34It is not spoken out, because we can count, you know, only, I am talking about only the Chennai and
20:42Chennai,
20:42nearby Chennai, cities around Chennai.
20:44We can count the days, when the murders or any anti-social element doesn't happen in the, in and around
20:50Chennai city.
20:52Okay, we can count it. We can count it.
20:54That is the situation of, real situation right now.
20:57The Chief Minister must address, from that point of view, not only the social, you know,
21:03this kind of anti-social element activities.
21:06Sir, should he come up?
21:06Sir, he must adhere what he spoke before the election, what he spoke before the election and what he delivered
21:14today.
21:15He need to compare both statements of his own.
21:18Okay, why, okay.
21:18I am not talking about any of this.
21:20Okay, Sashir Rekam ma'am, I think the question they are asking is, why raise issues that happen in Jekin
21:24Sibur?
21:25Come back to 2026. Sir, I got your point.
21:31Let me speak.
21:32Let me speak to you.
21:33Yeah, Sashir Rekam ma'am, go ahead.
21:34Am I missing something?
21:36No, this is, this is what I express DMK as.
21:43This is the diversion tactics.
21:45That is what Mr. Murali, right, I'm right.
21:47If I'm right, he's also doing the same thing, tactics politics says.
21:51Chief Minister Vijay, sir, is holding the home department.
21:54No, no, no, see, so I don't have, I don't have any intention to divert.
21:59Let me finish your allegations, sir.
22:00I don't have, I don't have.
22:01Mr. Murali, Mr. Murali, let me finish about your allegations.
22:04Let me finish about your allegations.
22:07We are the ruling party.
22:08We are in the position to handle this things.
22:09Let me clear.
22:10Before, before you mention me.
22:12Yeah.
22:13See, see, let me clear this one, right?
22:16Yes.
22:17Okay.
22:17I don't have any intention.
22:19I don't have any intention.
22:20I don't have any intention to have a diverse tactics like what did CM did today in the assembly, right?
22:29He only took the diversion tactics.
22:32He only, I know, escaped.
22:34He took the entire narrative as an escapism.
22:38That is what I can say.
22:39I don't have any intention to divert.
22:42We are talking about this current assembly demand, you know, demand for the grant of 2026 to 2027.
22:50We can talk about that.
22:52He took back to Sarkarya Commission.
22:54Let's, let, let me ask, there are three volumes of Sarkarya Commission.
22:59How, whether, can we ask, can we sit and debate about.
23:03Sandhya, I think you have finished your questions.
23:05This is the time for me, I think.
23:07This is the time for me.
23:08Excuse me.
23:09Excuse me.
23:10This is the time for me.
23:11Let me finish and let me give the explanation about this.
23:14Sashirya, come on.
23:15Go.
23:15Yes.
23:15Udayan Ithi has challenged on day before yesterday and on Friday, Thursday, I think.
23:20That is what CM is telling the stories, past histories of DMK.
23:24That DMK has no guts to speak about the violations.
23:27DMK has no guts to speak about the scams and all.
23:30That is what he is telling about the, he is expressing about the histories, what had been happened from, after
23:36Anna's demise, from the, during, from the past leader, Mr. Karuna Nidhi and Stalin.
23:43That is what he is expressing.
23:44Why not Jailanda?
23:44We are the responsible person.
23:45Why not Jailanda?
23:46Will you please keep quiet, sir?
23:47Will you please, let me allow it.
23:49Jailanda was committed criminal.
23:50Will you please allow me to come, please, sir?
23:53Will you please allow me to come, please, sir?
23:54I think, I think, let, let Sashirya come, I'm serious.
23:56I don't mean to come, please.
23:57Let Sashirya come, I'm finished.
23:59But I think the point he is making, ma'am, is Jailalitha.
24:01Jailalitha was convicted.
24:03No, he is always, a guilty mind is always being restless.
24:06That is what DMK is doing and other, and other peoples are also based on the DMK supporters telling the
24:12same thing.
24:13Again and I'm telling, a guilty mind is always being restless.
24:16That is what DMK is doing and DMK carers and workers and supporters are doing the same thing again and
24:21again.
24:21Whatever it may, what about Ponmudi?
24:23What about Senthil Balaji?
24:24All allegations.
24:25What about Mrs. Kanimuri?
24:26All allegations.
24:27All allegations.
24:28All allegations.
24:28Kanimuri has been acquitted.
24:30Look, Ponmudi case is convicted.
24:32Ponmudi came to wind up.
24:34He is begging the...
24:35Kanimuri is acquitted.
24:36Raja is acquitted.
24:37Senthil Balaji, investigation is underway.
24:39No conviction.
24:40Ponmudi, what about Mr. Ponmudi?
24:41Okay, what?
24:42Mr. Ponmudi.
24:43His case is almost finished.
24:45He is begging to the...
24:46No, but it's in the courts.
24:47Yeah.
24:48He is telling, I am old.
24:50My wife is also so aged.
24:52Will you please do something for me?
24:54That is what, in this way, Mr. Ponmudi is begging.
24:57So, Mr. Selva Kanabudi is also there.
24:59Mr. MP, MP of DMK, former DMK person.
25:02That is all.
25:02That is what things are a scam.
25:04Many scandals and many corrupted peoples are again...
25:07Most of the peoples are accumulated in DMK only.
25:10That is what I am saying.
25:11DMK has no guts to say about scandals.
25:14That is what CM has expressed from the Sarkaria Commission,
25:16from the Veeranam,
25:17from the other things,
25:18and the party fund,
25:19and the illicit party fund,
25:20and the TOSMAC scandals,
25:23and about all those things.
25:24And today's Kayin Nehru scam is also already...
25:26He is involved in ED.
25:27ED has given so many hundreds of pages of paper
25:32they have to file the allegations about Kayin Nehru.
25:34What about Yeva Velu?
25:35What about Anita Radhakrishnan?
25:37What about Mr. Durai Murugan?
25:38What about Thangam Tenarasu?
25:39What about Aipariya Sami?
25:41This much of standards and this much of...
25:42Ma'am, you have listed a number of names.
25:44I agree.
25:45There are allegations.
25:46There are allegations.
25:47There are allegations.
25:47There are allegations.
25:49Give Sandhya time now.
25:50Sandhya.
25:51Actually, there's only one thing.
25:52Only one thing I want to express.
25:53Just hold on, ma'am.
25:54I'll come back to you.
25:55Let Sandhya speak.
25:55Sandhya.
25:57No, no.
25:58If I can just come in.
25:59Yeah, please.
26:00Shashireka ma'am, I mean, she's a veteran politician, of course.
26:07But my, as a citizen of, I mean, a resident of Tamil Nadu,
26:13someone who is, you know, wondering what is going to come in the coming monsoon.
26:21Is my city going to be flooded?
26:23Is my home going to be flooded?
26:25We haven't heard anything about that.
26:27And the chief minister holds that portfolio.
26:29We haven't heard anything about all the various special initiatives that he has promised.
26:34The poverty alleviation and rural indebtedness portfolio also.
26:38These are portfolios that the CM holds.
26:40And, you know, frankly, all of this, you know, DMK versus TVK, the rhetoric is fantastic.
26:48I mean, it's a lot of fun to listen to it.
26:51It's entertainment, yeah.
26:52It's entertainment.
26:53But it does not belong inside the assembly.
26:56It belongs outside.
26:58You know, hold a public meeting or let the chief minister do a televised address and, you know, make all
27:04these allegations.
27:04We don't really care.
27:06But you are wasting taxpayers' money standing, you know, spending hours in the assembly talking about another party
27:13and talking about something that happened in the 19, you know, late 1960s.
27:18Yeah.
27:18I really think there needs to be a little more responsibility on the part of the government.
27:23You guys are no longer campaigning.
27:25You are in the seat of power.
27:28Do you want to respond to that?
27:30Oh, yes.
27:30My learned friend Sandhya's question.
27:32I accept those things.
27:33We are the responsible persons for this government.
27:36We are holding the government in 2026.
27:38As per my learned friend Sandhya's question, that is, again, we are facing the monsoon within one or two months.
27:44No.
27:45We are planned.
27:45Already the team has been announced.
27:47The team is headed by our public works department minister, Mr. Adhu Arjuna.
27:51We are ready to face the monsoon and everything.
27:53The question is whether that should have been, you know, that's just one example of the issues,
27:59the civic issues, the people issues that maybe should have figured in the speech of the chief minister.
28:03Yes, of course.
28:05You guys, please try to understand.
28:07We are the only 100 days baby only.
28:10100 days baby only.
28:11Today the issue, the issue is based on the issue at assembly is based on the thing that
28:17the LOP has made a challenge on that day.
28:20That is what we are doing the things.
28:21And again, also, nearly 18,990 rupees has been allocated to this home department and police department
28:28and fire service departments also.
28:31Nearly 19,000 crores of fund is allocated to that.
28:36And for in future, that is, we are, we are, we don't want to do that kind of 36 custodial
28:41debts
28:42has been, has been, has been, happened in DMK's period that we don't want to do such kind of things.
28:48I'm glad to hear that ma'am, because the question right now is whether that kind of political rhetoric is
28:52all that we're seeing in the assembly.
28:54Sandeer, my final question to you is, yes, while, you know, there were issues that you have highlighted that maybe
28:58should have figured in the chief minister's address.
29:01Was he just playing to the galleries?
29:03You know, he's got the views.
29:04Everyone's talking about his speech.
29:05It's a big hit, clearly, among his fan base.
29:08The people in Tamil Nadu were enjoying it.
29:10They've made reels out of his speech.
29:11So ultimately, is it mission accomplished?
29:14I definitely think politically, his mission has been accomplished.
29:18He is speaking to his core vote bank, which is the Gen Z audience, the 19, 90s kids, as they
29:25call themselves here in Tamil Nadu.
29:26And also the women voters who are, you know, very, very firmly, loyally with Vijay.
29:33Yeah.
29:34Sashireka ma'am, you don't, you don't agree.
29:36Yeah.
29:36One of our, one of our policies, this is a women welfare government, you know,
29:40we are taking care of women also.
29:42Why?
29:42Because in the DMK, in the past DMK regions, and also in the, in the LOP statements, you know,
29:47you know, the things what have been happening last week, I think fortnightly, 15 days back.
29:50Udainiti is always using, not only Udainiti, and his cadres and workers are also using abusive languages,
29:56derogatory comments, abusive and cheap comments against women.
29:59You know, that is what we are telling.
30:00That's an issue that I will not tread into.
30:04I'm already facing a hundred cruel case in that, so I'm not going to get into that.
30:09I'm going to stay clear of it, sir.
30:10This is women welfare government.
30:11I'm going to stay clear of it.
30:12We, Ashuta, Sandhya, all are women.
30:13What is wrong in that?
30:13I don't have that kind of money, so I'll wrap this up.
30:16But on that note, we'll listen in also to what the Chief Minister said on the issue.
30:20Thank you, Sashireka ma'am.
30:21Thank you, Sandhya.
30:22And thank you, Mr. Murali Krishna, for joining us.
30:23Chief Minister Vijay also, in his speech today, spoke of how women are facing personal attacks.
30:31And giving out essentially his piece of advice at the assembly, said let's refrain from making personal attacks on women.
30:37He even recalled the humiliation that former Chief Minister Jai Jai Laretha faced in the Tamil Nadu assembly.
30:46Chief Minister Jai Jai Jai Jai Jai Jai Jai Jai Jai Jai, who is a former soldier at the time
30:49that would be the first time to speak.
38:05scuffle. But on the other hand, there was a BRS MLC Tata Madhu, who had allegedly used
38:10derogatory comments against the speaker, Gaddam Prasadgaro. Now here, now these remarks have
38:16been taken as against the Dalits now, and all the Congress leaders here have protested
38:22and also given a representation to the chief minister, asking him to disqualify BRS MLC
38:27Tata Madhu, wherein Tata Madhu has given a clarification that it was not, that his remarks
38:32were against the speaker, against the, you know, the chair or the chairman of the house.
38:38But these remarks were just towards the police officials, is what Tata Madhu has clarified.
38:42But however, the tensions have escalated now with all that political heat, which began
38:47on the streets in front of the Tilangana Assembly. Now it landed inside the assembly and to the
38:52court as well, where the BRS has approached a high court seeking action against those
38:56police officers who have manhandled. And also now the Congress MLAs are seeking action
39:01against Tata Madhu, BRS MLC Tata Madhu, for his comments against, allegedly against the
39:06Speaker of the House. Over to you.
39:09Abdul, just stay with me. You know, what we're also tracking, that these are two aspects essentially
39:13of the story. One is what's happened with KTR in the beginning of the day, even before
39:18the assembly kicked off. And then right after that, you also had allegations that the Congress
39:23leveled against a BRS MLC, alleging that he had insulted and even heard a Dalit slur at,
39:29in fact, the Speaker, cast a slur at the Speaker. Now it is over that that there's been also
39:35a showdown. So much so that Telangana Chief Minister, Revant Reddy, has lashed out, demanded
39:40an apology and demanded action against the BRS MLC. So on one hand, if you've got the BRS
39:45leading this kind of a protest where they're wearing black T-shirts on the other, Congress
39:49leaders were seen burning effigies today over the BRS MLC's comment, alleged comment against
39:56the Speaker. So a lot of drama that's playing out in the Telangana Assembly right now over
40:02this issue. The Chief Minister, Revant Reddy, also speaking in the Assembly on this issue,
40:07has picked that up. So you're seeing the state set between the BRS and the Congress for a big
40:13face-off tomorrow as well. We will also give you a sense of whether the BRS has chosen to
40:18back the MLC in question here. And Abdul, if you're with us, I'll get that clarification from
40:22you as well on how the BRS has chosen to respond to questions and allegations that they insulted
40:28the Speaker.
40:33Well, apart from the BRS MLC, Tata Madhu, who spoke with us and said that these were the
40:37remarks not intentionally towards the Speaker, but it was against the police officials. Well,
40:42on the other hand, the other BRS leaders like KT Rama Rao and Harish Rao has not commented
40:49on this particular incident yet. But Congress is taking this as a very big game for tomorrow.
40:54Today, the monsoon session has begun for the first day, and tomorrow is a big day for the
40:58politics in Telangana. On one side, the charge against the police officials, against the Congress
41:02of the high-handedness, alleged high-handedness against the BRS MLAs. On the other hand, the
41:08Congress is alleging the derogatory remarks against the Speaker, Dalit Speaker, Ghatam Prasad
41:14Garo, by BRS MLC Tata Madhu. So it's to be seen what would be the day tomorrow for the
41:22politics here in Telangana when it comes to the charge against each other, be it the Congress
41:26or the BRS.
41:28Okay. We're going to get you at this point. A reaction also from Chief Minister Revant
41:33Reddy on the alleged comment made by the BRS MLC against the Speaker. Chief Minister
41:38Revant Reddy has demanded an apology from the BRS over this particular comment. Referring,
41:44to this as a dark day in the chapter of Telangana, he's alleged that a casteist slur was hurled
41:51by, in fact, Tata Madhu, who is the BRS MLC in question here. He says that this slur was
41:58hurled at the Speaker. The BRS MLC says, no, I was referring to the police. But either way,
42:02the kind of language that was used is unacceptable, and it's led to a big showdown, a big war of
42:08words. Tomorrow, you're going to see that escalate between the BRS and the Congress. Let
42:13me play out for you exactly what the Telangana Chief Minister has also said on this. On the
42:20floor of the Assembly, he's spoken on this particular issue, saying that there must be
42:26accountability and that there must be an apology that also comes in from the BRS on this issue.
42:33So far, the BRS hasn't spoken out. The MLC in question, however, has said it wasn't intended
42:38of the Speaker. Listen in to the Telangana Chief Minister.
42:41The Telangana Chief Officer. The Telangana Chief Minister. It's the
42:48Department of the Ten and the T förstaと思います from the Anwar. The one who is the one who

43:21and to help the people.
43:23This day,
43:26this time,
43:29the people who have been in the world,
43:30the people who have been in the world,
43:43okay let's move on to kerala where you've had a big showdown of course over the kerala muslim
43:49cleric abu bakar's comments on women and how women should not be working he suggested that
43:55they should be boxed up this is a controversy that's been snowballing for the last many weeks
44:00and now he's doubled down on his stand on sharia he says he plans to organize sharia conferences
44:05across all districts of kerala and will continue speaking about it despite the criticism his
44:11remarks come days after he's faced widespread backlash for advocating that women should remain
44:16at home and stay away from public platforms so much so that you even had the kerala chief minister
44:21vd satishan calling it out saying this is not reflective of the progressive mindset of the
44:26state of kerala are you ml's only woman mla fatima tahilia has however actually defended the cleric
44:33saying he should not be singled out and attacked over his remarks so the are you ml very clearly
44:39taking a stand here where they're backing the muslim cleric uh the mla has said she stood for
44:45women's empowerment but this person the cleric is being singled out and being targeted and that's
44:53something she doesn't support irrespective their ally the iuml's ally the congress has come out
44:58to call out this comment

46:15Srimi Mool is joining us with Modi.
46:41Srimi Mool is joining us with Modi.
46:43when you try to take a reaction from the Muslim ministers also, they've all tried to escape the
46:48scenario, clearly indicating that they do not want to jump into it or make any statement. While the
46:53Congress has been very clear about their stand on this issue with Chief Minister himself coming out
46:57and even trying to teach Islamic history to religious scholars, this is something that we
47:02don't really see happening in Kerala. Political reactions coming against somebody like Kandhapur
47:06Abu Bakr Musli are a very influential figure. It's not very common in Kerala, but all the political
47:11parties here, whether it's the left or the Congress or the BJP, have come out and hit
47:15out against Kandhapur Abu Bakr Musliar. And that's when, you know, Fatima Tahilia, the IUML MLA,
47:21she's been very vocal about women empowerment and all of that. She says she stands by it,
47:25there's no new stand on it, but she's again singling out and attacking this religious scholar
47:30Kandhapur Abu Bakr Musliar, which again shows that IUML is trying to take a soft stand and
47:34trying to shield this person. So that definitely is a concern within the UDF, but the Congress
47:40since the Congress made it stand clear, the IUML has now chosen to, you know, remain silent
47:45and not jump into the controversy and create more difficulties for the UDF front.
47:48Right, Shibi, thanks for joining us with those details. So you've got interestingly a contradiction
47:52and stance there within the alliance, but will it lead to issues? Not really. Both parties
47:58making their stand clear, but not really hitting out at one another. But someone as influential
48:04as this Muslim cleric rightly being called out by many political parties in Kerala. That's
48:08all we have time for in this edition of Super 6. Thanks very much for tuning in. I'll see
48:12you same time tomorrow.
