The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption conducted searches across 25 locations in Tamil Nadu linked to former minister and DMK leader KN Nehru in connection with an alleged cash-for-job scam. The action follows the recent arrest of former minister Anbil Mahesh and the surrender of his aide Muthukumar in an alleged school approval bribery case. While the DMK termed the vigilance action a politically motivated witch hunt ahead of the Trichy by-elections to divert attention from state law and order issues, the ruling TVK government stated the measures represent a crackdown against corruption with full accountability.
