01:30That is the power of the Alpha
01:31And those are the praises that one Rocky Romero has managed to sing
01:35From town to town, prefecture to prefecture
01:38And for good reason
01:39The uncrowned champion of professional wrestling
01:42Konosuke Takeshita now refers to himself
01:44It is the Alpha who looks to crown himself
01:47Not just tonight against Zack Sabre Jr.
01:50But coming up in our main event tomorrow
01:52Now confirm against Evil
02:11The red corner
02:12G Alpha
02:15Konosuke Takeshita
02:34Sous-titrage Société Radio-Canada
02:5125 years and 11 days ago today, Pro Wrestling Noah's departure took place in a little building down the road
03:01that used to be called Dippo Ariake.
03:06There were a lot, a lot of ups and downs over the last quarter century, and there was a time
03:11when Noah gave New Japan Pro Wrestling a much-needed kick in the arse.
03:16And it also gave Zack Sabre Jr. his path to Japan, and his path to kick in plenty of arse
03:23here in New Japan to become the world's best.
03:28Other times do change, and indeed right now in Dippo Ariake's place, they put up a parking lot.
03:34But Zack Sabre Jr.'s paradise has not been paved.
03:39It will be paved on the pain of Sekesha and the pride of making history two years in a row.
04:00It is the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, and defending G1 Climax winner, still in the running.
04:08top of Block B, Zack Sabre Jr.
04:147-2.
04:17Top of Block B, two years in a row.
04:202 years in a row.
04:47Sous-titrage MFP.
04:50No time limit.
04:55Chris, I know there were some points that you and I have cultivated coming into tonight to talk about regarding
04:59our main event.
05:00It's Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Konosuke Takeshita.
05:02But I believe the conversation has now changed severely now that we know one half of our final that is
05:08confirmed in Ariake Arena.
05:10And that half being in evil, a true outsider on the inside here of New Japan Pro Wrestling.
05:16Meanwhile, there's a man like Konosuke Takeshita fighting who, even if triple contracted, one of those companies being here in
05:22New Japan,
05:22still considered an outsider mostly by New Japan Pro Wrestling roster in town.
05:27Yeah, that's true.
05:28I mean, of course, that pseudo status of outsider is something that Zack Sabre Jr. himself is familiar with.
05:37There's somebody, you know, as a foreign wrestler, spent that time in his first reign as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion
05:44to try and destroy that notion of,
05:47well, foreign wrestlers have a limited shelf life in New Japan.
05:51And they'll go on to other things.
05:53And Zack Sabre Jr. very much trying to break every single record in front of him, becoming the first British
06:01wrestler to win a G1 Climax,
06:04becoming the first foreign wrestler in 20 years to win a Tokyo Dome main event, the first wrestler, period,
06:11to defend the World Heavyweight Championship on two consecutive nights in the Tokyo Dome.
06:15He did all that to, he had to do all that to show, hey, I'm not an outsider.
06:21I am an insider.
06:23I am the insider.
06:24I am the one.
06:25You know, so, I mean, it's an uphill climb.
06:28And in many ways, you know, in some sort of twisted sense, you almost have to tip a hat to
06:36Evil,
06:36who perhaps on one level was on the inside and elects to be on the outside and chooses to go
06:43on that.
06:45particularly path, as despicable as it is.
06:49And it does, you know, raise questions.
06:51And I think the New Japan Pro Wrestling faithful right now are very much behind Zack Sabre Jr.
06:59Especially to be tested here tonight in Ariake Arena.
07:04as this is a swift rematch from earlier on in this year's G1.
07:09In fact, both of these men competed against each other in Block B.
07:12It was Takeshita that defeated David Finley to find his spot in this semifinal tonight.
07:16But it was Zack Sabre Jr. that put down Takeshita and Takeshita's own home metropolis of Osaka, Chris.
07:23Yeah, and, you know, with a very, very dogged, tenacious, rear naked choke that finally put away the alpha, Konosuke
07:35Takeshita.
07:38I mean, as much as he said it, you know, I mean, the uncrowned king of professional wrestling,
07:43as somewhat Takeshita has called it, somewhat Rocky Romero has put those words in Konosuke Takeshita's mouth.
07:49But, you know, either way you look at it, you're not the king until you beat the champion.
07:53You're not the man until you beat the man.
07:55And he couldn't beat the man in Osaka.
07:57Has to do so tonight in order to take one step closer to tomorrow in the G1 climate.
08:02You know, I think it's a really interesting conversation we're capable of having between three men like Evo, Konosuke, Takeshita,
08:09and Zack Sabre Jr.
08:10And it might be what we put a pin in for now.
08:12Has Takeshita off the ropes.
08:14And a shoulder tackle to take down the world heavyweight champion.
08:17The early stages of a match like this, it's always going to be a game of one-upsmanship.
08:22That's to build the mental heading into what you imagine is going to be a deep back half,
08:27especially with the cardio both of these men hold, Chris.
08:29Yeah, definitely.
08:30I mean, they can both go long, both go very long.
08:32Both men have.
08:34Zack Sabre Jr. knows, though, that he has that left knee.
08:37You can see the bandage, the tape poking up over the knee pad of Konosuke Takeshita.
08:41He knows he has that to go to.
08:43He might not even choose to go there, Walker.
08:45I mean, he can create a weakness of all of his own.
08:49And he can submit any way, which way possible.
08:52But at this point, I'm sure the stakes as high as they are, he'll take every opportunity available to him.
08:58There's a really interesting conversation to have about how all three of the men that we could potentially talk about
09:05in the final tomorrow in Ariaka view professional wrestling.
09:08A lot of what Evil does, you and I sit here in the booth and say, well, that isn't what
09:12New Japan Pro Wrestling is built off of.
09:15Zack Sabre Jr. says, I am New Japan Pro Wrestling.
09:17And Konosuke Takeshita says, I am the world of professional wrestling.
09:20Oh, and Evil says he is justice.
09:22He is New Japan Pro Wrestling.
09:24You know what I mean?
09:25And he does, of course, it brings her, I evoked Great Bash Eel earlier on tonight.
09:30Yes.
09:31You know what I mean, Togi Makabe, who now we all see as a staple, as an icon, and this
09:37is the tradition to New Japan Pro Wrestling.
09:39But he walked that path as well.
09:42I mean, the difference is that, you know, I think with Evil, he is just absolutely, there is no correcting
09:50Evil.
09:51It is his nature.
09:52It is his name.
09:52There is no goodness to find him.
09:57Maybe the G1 final is the spot.
09:59Perhaps.
10:00We can, but hope.
10:02Right?
10:03You know, I think if you have got a ticket tomorrow to tomorrow's G1 Climax Final, you can, but hope
10:08that somewhere there is some competitive pride, somewhere deep, deep within Takaki Watanabe, the man we call Evil.
10:16I mean, hope has gone out the window time and time again when it comes to Evil.
10:22But there is still hope for Zack Sabre Jr. and Konosuke to cast him to stand opposite against Evil and
10:27Ariake tomorrow and to remind Evil what professional wrestling is.
10:32Ah, but Sabre Jr., a very different style of wrestling to that of his opponent here tonight.
10:38And you're getting just a taste of it, albeit illegal.
10:41Referee Red Shizuno going to have to count the break.
10:44Zack Sabre Jr. will not only take every advantage available to him, he will also take every little bit.
10:52that he has learned from the men that he has worked, slaved, and been hurt under.
10:59My Suzuki-style armbar now setting up that stamp on the right arm and settling.
11:05Well, at least for now, Walker, not on destroying the knee, but rather breaking the arm, which is how he
11:10became IWGP World Heavyweight Champion for a second time.
11:14You're right about that.
11:14Yeah, I've got to ask you, Chris, is Sabre Jr. looking to take the ground game here against Takeshita.
11:20Oh, Takeshita, we'll put the pin in the question.
11:23Yes, yeah, it is the dissection of what makes Konosuke to Keshita so special.
11:28That elbow and the power that is driven out of the legs of Konosuke to Keshita certainly on the mind
11:35of Sabre, Chris.
11:37He's still, he's that way of breaking his nose, he's still sort of blinking the way through the tears that
11:43spring to the eyes.
11:47What a little bit of get-back, but I mean, at the same time, Walker, I mean, there are so
11:51many weapons to Takeshita, so many strings to his bow, but, you know what I mean, this is smart on
11:59the part of Zack Sabre Jr., you know, because a lot of guys will go, ah, taped-up knee, let's
12:04go after that.
12:06You know, whereas now, Takeshita, not only does he not have the power drive knee, potentially, does he not have
12:14the base kerating fire, potentially, he doesn't have an arm, he doesn't have an arm, oh, God.
12:21And, yeah, being reprimanded by Red Shoes, you know, that was two fingers in the hand of Zack Sabre Jr.
12:29rather than four.
12:32I mean, it really is the difference between G1 Climax 34 and G1 Climax 35 for Zack Sabre Jr., 34,
12:40I mean, we were talking about it, it's coming home, the summer of Sabre, it was a celebration, before Zack
12:46Sabre Jr. had ever won the G1 Climax Tournament.
12:49Oh!
12:51Definitely, we talked about going big and going home, and we talked about survival and desperate acts.
12:57Desperate matches!
12:58Oh!
13:01Yeah, I think we can measure up Konosuke Takeshita for a blast to cast on that right arm walker.
13:11That is, of course, that elbow-throwing arm of Konosuke Takeshita, cut the boot, sweeps the leg of Sabre, and
13:18it's gonna need to be big.
13:19And it comes in the way, crunching on the neck of Zack Sabre Jr.
13:29That neck of Sabre Jr., heavily targeted all throughout this tournament.
13:33the last three matches.
13:35Boy, you see it, they see it again.
13:37The last three matches Sabre had in this tournament, Chris, Shingo Takagi, Drill Maloney,
13:43Yoshihashi, all of which targeted that neck of Sabre Jr. Takeshita has to know that, going into tonight.
13:55And all be it, all of those matches against Takagi, against Maloney, and against Yoshihashi did all end with a
14:03Zack Sabre victory.
14:07Could this match find the same fate?
14:13That's Takeshita now.
14:19Punishing boot, out of the corner, German Suplex, back on Sabre.
14:24Now it's not a good landing for Sabre at all.
14:28Takeshita, underneath here, runs right into the boot, does Sabre.
14:32Trying to outpace Takeshita now, to catch the line.
14:37Go to the line, and now, well, feeling the pace.
14:43Adreno is a hell of a drug, Chris, but it can only push you so far until you need to
14:48enter rehab.
14:58Takeshita now, no, Sabre Jr. Back on the feet to Keshita. Separate, close it, Sabre Jr. again.
15:06Oh, watch out, watch out, watch out, the knee, the knee, there it is.
15:09It was inevitable he would go there someplace, sometime, and now the time is right.
15:20The right arm, the left knee.
15:26Any way you draw a line of symmetry on Kunosuke Takeshita, there is something bad about the picture you're left
15:33with.
15:33Yeah, I mean, the body completely out of sync right now.
15:36Targeting both sides, but that's a smart game plan from Sabre, but you cannot call this a legal one.
15:43He's got five seconds.
15:44Yeah, you're right, Sabre Jr. is going to use all five of them.
15:47Oh, it leaves Takeshita tied up in the process.
16:05Takeshita in a really bad way right now, Chris.
16:09We talk about it all the time, there is no one worse to step in the ring with an injury
16:14against than the best wrestler in the world,
16:18Zack Sabre Jr. A man who makes this look easy by comparison.
16:23Look at it.
16:23That is ugly.
16:24Look at that.
16:25That's ugly.
16:26My God.
16:27Ah, every single, every single part of Kunosuke Takeshita's body has to be screaming in pain.
16:38It is the difference from G134 to G135, Chris.
16:42It is not Sabre Jr. celebrating with the people.
16:45It is Sabre Jr. doing this all for himself.
16:48He is embracing the inner dickhead, that's what he said.
16:53Come on, come on.
16:55A man inside of himself that he laid dormant so that he could be the smiling champion to meet the
17:04press.
17:07And when he lost that title to Hiroki Goto, well, he knew changes had to be made and changes were
17:13made.
17:25Feel the difference, Takeshita trying to fire up, but...
17:36Just enough.
17:41Man, Elba's gonna hang on by a thread, but he'll keep swinging with it.
17:51To catch the now.
17:53That left knee finds stability.
17:55And it's the lefts and the rights that come the way of Sabre Jr.
17:58off the ropes here.
18:00Oh, that killed me.
18:01And now, exploder suplex from the Alpha.
18:09And again, post to post, go Sabre Jr.
18:14Cover for Takeshita, falls on it, two.
18:21And just the bare roll of the shoulder, and as we were talking earlier, Walker,
18:25especially with that DBT on the floor, that neck, really, really starting to trouble the champion here.
18:35Here we go, Keiji Muto, 95, Sasaki in 2000, the only two top champions to win a G1 Climax.
18:46And Sabre, trying for it again, got the armbar.
18:49Sabre Jr. with the arm now.
18:51Can also get Takeshita in a really, really bad predicament here.
18:55If Takeshita separates, it is potentially game over for the Alpha.
19:02Look at that.
19:03Sabre Jr. here, gonna be player one tonight.
19:06Extra talk on the wrist to get the arm and Takeshita wisely stamping himself free.
19:17Oh, Blue Thunder Bomb, no!
19:23Danger, danger, danger.
19:24Sabre Jr. out of the cover and into the clutch.
19:33For 15 minutes, Steve, we have no time limit.
19:35We could go all night until we have a winner here.
19:38We won't go much longer, Walker.
19:43It's only the pain in Sabre's neck stopping him from talking this further.
19:49And now again, Takeshita's gonna stab him down to the knee.
19:53No, no, no, Takeshita in a bad way right now.
19:58Thanks to Sabre Jr., that left knee in a world of pain.
20:03And Takeshita could try and scratch, try and claw to the bottom rope.
20:07But you pull the weight of the world heavyweight champion behind you.
20:11You pull the weight of the whole world behind you.
20:16How much weight can you shoulder?
20:21You can be the on-ground king, but heavy is the head.
20:27Sabre's used to the mass is Takeshita.
20:31And we're gonna see here, Takeshita trying to do what he can't.
20:36Sabre Jr. has never been more center in his life.
20:38And even still, Takeshita trying for the other side now.
20:42Sabre Jr. sat down deep.
20:45This is just like Osaka, desperate struggle.
20:48Keep going!
20:50From Takeshita, dogged perseverance.
20:53From Sabre, he's a fish on the other end of the line here, Walker.
20:58And Takeshita.
20:59And just barely gets the hook out of his mouth for now.
21:09Subverted the expectations, dodged to the right side.
21:13Takeshita to the ropes.
21:28Two men at the top of their games in this sport.
21:31And only getting better as time goes on.
21:37But only one will call themselves a G1 fight off.
21:40Jesus.
21:44Takeshita, backslide, brought Sabre down, watch for it here.
21:48Takeshita, no, ran right into it, right into a brick wall.
21:54Takeshita's elbow might be shattered.
21:56Yeah, it might have been, it might have been the straw that broke the elbow in Takeshita.
22:01But if he can break it on Sabre's jaw, so much the better.
22:05Here we go.
22:05Let it burn, no, no, no.
22:09Takeshita.
22:09Oh, Zack Jaiver, Zack Jaiver, but it's a guess.
22:13Could it, could it, could we see?
22:16No.
22:20Takeshita and one leg.
22:21This one.
22:33Take care.
22:34Take care.
22:37Take care.
22:39Take care.

26:28Rocky Romero's not gonna throw in the white towel for Konosuke Takeshka.
26:33It all has to be on the Alpha, all on his lonesome to survive Saber tonight.
26:42Saber's gonna try and get to the final on penalties Walker, that's two in the back.
26:57And another.
27:00Takeshka, Larry, turns Saber inside out.
27:06Saber Jr.
27:07landing on the back of his neck again, Chris.
27:11He has to know, does Takeshi, if he can get that neck snap and
27:16get into the crossface chicken wing.
27:19The move that made Gabe Kidd pass out, the move that made Shingo Takagi pass out.
27:27If he can get that on, it has to be over for Zack Saber Jr.
27:32If he can get it on.
27:33off.
27:45and
27:54And
27:59though
28:01So
28:02that's
28:02the
28:03C'est parti de la game, Sabre, c'est parti pour Trashtalk.
28:05C'est parti, tu me souviens à Osaka.
28:10C'est parti pour le World Heavyweight Champion.
28:20Oh, man.
28:22C'est parti de la tête qui a été fléte de Takeshi.
28:24Je pense que c'est parti.
28:25Je pense que c'est parti.
28:26Je pense que c'est parti de la partie de Takeshi.
28:29à Takeshita's body that we just saw fly.
28:42And Takeshita is flattened by the IWGP World Champion.

30:14Back to survival. Try and grab a hold wherever you can. One arm and then the other, even if it's
30:19not the bad one.
30:20No, Sabre, Sabre, this is risky business.
30:23No, no, no, no, he can't avoid this. My goodness. Barely saved himself, landed on the apron.
30:30And it's risky to head back to the top, but Sabre is a man who has bet on himself his
30:34whole life.
30:35Sabre Jr. to try and do what he can to inch another final in G1 history.
30:44He can't avoid this.
30:46No, no, no, no, no.
30:47My God.
30:50Raging fire right off the top of the rope.
30:56Both men, broken, there you see it again, right on that neck.
31:00Take four from Raging Fire, that was a brain in the canvas.
31:05Power drive, power drive.
31:10To catch up, burn bright, Raging Fire.
31:16My God, look at this one.
31:17Has he done it?
31:19Will he win?
31:38Zack Sabre Jr. will not do the double.
31:44And now, well,
31:51the hopes for the savior of this G1 Climax.
31:55Perhaps the savior of New Japan Pro Wrestling,
31:59the savior of all of Pro Wrestling,
32:01falls on the shoulders of a man who doesn't work here day to day.
32:07Konosuke Takeshiya has to be everything he says he is.
32:13Konosuke Takeshiya has to be the winner of G1 Climax 35.
32:21We talk about Walker.
32:23We have to unify to stand up to all this.
32:27Maybe to catch it tomorrow can unify all the pro wrestling.
32:31Konosuke Takeshiya has to be the winner of the G1 Climax expectations.
32:41The weight of three different roster,
32:44the weight of New Japan Pro Wrestling,
32:46and the entire world on the broad shoulders of the output Konosuke Takeshiya.
32:53And it's coming tomorrow in your main event in Ariake Arena.
33:00Sabre Jr. has come so, so far.
33:06And to be at your career best, even knowing you're still going to progress
33:11and become an even greater fighter.
33:14To be at your career best as World Heavyweight Champion,
33:17and lose out in a way like this.
33:21Sabre Jr. is not going to be a happy man.
33:23No, of course he's not.
33:25Of course he's not.
33:27But what he could be happy about,
33:30and what we could take solace in.
33:35He's a semi-final main event tonight.
33:37That is everything that was great about professional wrestling.
33:41And Konosuke Takeshiya might be the greatest of everything that's great about professional wrestling.
33:51We can but hope, Walker.
34:17Tomorrow night in our main event,
34:20Konosuke Takeshiya will battle evil in the final of G1 Climax 35.
34:26And Konosuke Takeshiya will be defending something greater
34:30than he had ever intended to
34:32when he stepped through the ropes onto the Cerulean Blue for the first time.
34:37He's not here to defend New Japan.
34:39He is not here to defend DDT or AEW either.
34:43He is here to defend the sport of pro wrestling,
34:45against one of pro wrestling's greatest terrorists,
34:49and evil, coming up tomorrow.
34:53Well, coming up tonight, take a look at this.
34:58Of course, the house is not gonna let this.
35:04Already with the trophy on his T-shirt there.
35:31This might be a bad situation for Konosuke Takeshiya.
35:34He might not be able to make it out of here in one piece, Walker.
35:36Oh, you're right.
35:37Look at them. I mean, this is...
35:39Surrounding the ring.
