Bernie Rayno breaks down when some relief from the heat could arrive in the central U.S.
Transcript
00:00The heat has been relentless across the southern plains so far this summer and the heat continues
00:05certainly on Tuesday as that upper high re-strengthens across southern parts of
00:11Missouri. That's going to push the heat all the way up in the central plain states. However,
00:16there will be some changes as we head into Wednesday. Cities like Kansas City are going
00:22to start coming down but that heat continues in the southern plains toward the mid-south
00:26from Little Rock toward Nashville. High temperatures some 10 degrees above historical
00:32averages. However, some relief coming a little farther north. Take a look at Kansas City
00:37near 100th this afternoon. We'll trim that temperature into the upper 80s as we go through
00:43the rest of the week. But where is the heat going to persist? Southern Plains states,
00:48North Texas. Take a look at Dallas, Fort Worth. This would be the same for San Antonio and Austin.
00:53temperatures remained near 100 degrees to close out the week. And of course, where it's been hot,
00:59where it's been dry, the drought continues to grow in those areas across the southern plains.
