00:00After their astonishing comeback against Celtic in the playoffs, nobody will be writing Vim off in a hurry.
00:16In astonishing goal-scoring form, his replacement Callum Lang though is no slouch, he's managed nine goals in seven games.
00:25At this stadium, which has been home to Ike since 2022, Lassie in red get us underway, they are an
00:35attacking side, Champions League experience with Lazio.
00:41Managed to keep that one quiet, there was no suggestion that he would be unavailable tonight.
00:49Quitter going down, no foul given.
00:55Only chance here for Jovic, and a fine save from Jungwirth.
01:01Lovro-Meyers pass into Jovic, I think it struck the goalkeeper's head in fact.
01:08Whatever part of your anatomy you can get in the way of it, it's good.
01:11Joubačić, finding Horvath.
01:17Ussor.
01:21It's his second time as a Champions League manager tonight Nikolic
01:25took charge of Lokomotiv Moscow in the 2020 group stage
01:34Horvath
01:38from Andrada, Bogard, a safe pair of hands from Rignoli
01:47Shapes up to shoot
01:50Two men running interference
01:52Marin's effort
01:53That is superb
01:58Razvan Marin
02:02Scores I, Athens, first goal in the Champions League
02:08And it was worth waiting for
02:20A magnificent strike
02:28Right into the top corner
02:30From the Romanian international
02:42Absolutely unstoppable
02:48It's Meyer
02:49And it wasn't too far away
02:53Ike were convinced it was a corner
02:57And a goal kick was the award
03:04Did it just take a nick off the edge of that wall
03:08Very difficult for the referee to see
03:10Even if it did
03:15Christoph Lang looking for the one-two
03:18Horvath's shot
03:18It's Lang
03:20Great say
03:23The last chance of this half will go to Ajek
03:29Marin's free kick
03:30Dangerous delivery
03:31And Vargas should have made it too
03:34Right on the stroke of half-time
03:38Couldn't have asked for a better delivery
03:42And he thudded his head into the turf
03:45And over the bar
03:46And that is the last incident of the first half
03:51The Ajek Arena
03:53Thrilled
03:56And very, very noisy
03:58At this stage
04:00Second half
04:01Razvan Marin's free kick
04:05Gives Ajek a slender lead
04:10As the hosts get us underway
04:13In the second half here
04:17Now the fifth Austrian club
04:20To air the feature in the Champions League proper
04:28Now Horvath
04:30Huge space ahead of him
04:32Sascha Horvath
04:34Saved by the boot of Brignoli
04:38With a better finish here
04:39That had been on level terms
04:41He had so much room here
04:43Sascha Horvath
04:45In the end
04:46The shot well within reach
04:48For Alberto Brignoli
04:49Another sign
04:52That the Austrians are more than capable
04:55Of coming back in this one
04:59With interception by Makoudi
05:05Koita
05:06Surrounded by red shirts
05:08But still going
05:10And finding Barnabas
05:12Varga
05:18Bogards
05:24Pilios
05:25Pilios did well
05:28Koita able to turn
05:29And come inside
05:30Where he's
05:31Tripped by Jürgensen
05:33The crowd
05:33Want to see a yellow card for that
05:39One is not forthcoming
05:40From referee Goudinho
05:41The crowd in the Jürgensen
06:07way, two men on him, it's Koita, keen to keep it in play, Vargas still waiting in
06:18the middle, Pilios with the cross, Jovic trying to get to the rebound, Koudi
06:37and Koita, Maia showed him where he wanted it, Jovic and Ajax have a second
06:54with Koita feeding Maia and his cross was perfect
07:06the goal does not count, offside is the decision against Lovro Maia and so the
07:15game remains in the balance, he's so congested through the middle of the park
07:26it's a very hopeful pass from Andrada, Maia, great running from Rota who's got
07:34players at the back stick, Lazarus Rota finding Zini who took his time but
07:41couldn't pick his spot, Koita, the second goal just won't come for Ajax
07:55captain Sasha Horvath with the corner, ballkeeper didn't get there and it's
08:01over the top from Sasha Kolacic, that was a huge opportunity, the goal was gaping
08:11and the Austrian international got too much on it
08:17Bogart couldn't get to the loose ball
08:23and now Ajax can bring it away from the danger zone
08:27Zini onto it, Jungwirth prevented a second goal but he can't prevent the Ajax-Athens
08:34victory, the club's first in the Champions League proper in just short of 20 years
08:42in just short of 20 years
