00:00say for a second that this is the last video you watch tonight and right after this you put your
00:05device away and you go to sleep when you're laying in bed you run through so many scenarios in your
00:10head good and bad and in the ends probably none of them even happen is that living too much in
00:17your own mind i don't necessarily think so but i do think that we live too much in our mind
00:21say
00:22something bad happens to you and you keep thinking about it over and over like it's the biggest
00:26problem in your life and it ends up ruining your whole day because of it the crazy part is that
00:31only something small happened or nothing happened and you spend the entire time thinking about the
00:36same thing or if somebody said something negative to you or made a decision that um you know made
00:43you start second guessing your decision you can sit there forever trying to figure out what the right
00:48thing to do is when you have probably already thought about it in the past because after a
00:53while your own thoughts can start sounding like facts simply because you've heard them so many
00:58times because always here the easiest way to convince yourself of a lie is just tell yourself that it's
01:05the truth and maybe that is how we are with our thoughts which is why i think it's always important
01:11that you speak to yourself positively that you believe positively and it's so easy not to it's a lot
01:16of times we think if we beat ourselves up so much over something that it'll get better
01:21but it's not always the case because at the end of the night you will be exhausted by um however
01:27much you try to put into your brain that could be right or wrong just so you expect the outcome
01:32when in reality you can't control much
01:37because most of the things that you're so worried about you will not think about in the future you'll
01:42forget because if i'm so stressed trying to articulate this video right say what i'm feeling say what i'm
01:49trying to say so much that i'll miss views along the way and maybe that's a little off topic but
01:55that's part of these daily long form videos it's talking just however whatever comes to my mind
02:01mostly related to this topic and this topic is how we are living in our mind too much because if
02:07you
02:07focus on what you're thinking so much if you're so worried about the future or reminiscing on the
02:12past then you'll miss the beauty in front of you right now isn't it just gorgeous sometimes
02:20because i think a lot of problems we make are genuinely only in our head and it doesn't have
02:25to be like that because i'm sure that we've all had those nights where everything feels completely
02:31terrible but then the next morning feels fine and i think that alone should teach you that you don't
02:37need to figure every single thing out or prepare yourself for every worst case scenarios because
02:44it doesn't really happen as much as you feel and there's nothing wrong with letting your mind
02:49settle down a little bit before deciding what something means you know there's nothing wrong
02:52with just appreciating your surroundings and then continuing on in the direction that you know
02:57is best for you because we forget how much simple things affect how much you think if you barely
03:05slept you're gonna think worse today you know i barely slept at all because i was finally you
03:10know i live in my van i finally had a little place to stay and i ran into so many
03:14problems that by 2am i
03:16couldn't stay there anymore so i ended up sleeping in my van from 3 until 8 maybe you know if
03:21you sleep
03:22in your van and it's hot out your car gets trapped with so much heat it just becomes i mean
03:26you'll literally
03:27boil in there if you're in there so i couldn't really sleep in that much past 8 so my point
03:31is maybe i
03:32won't be as sharp today that i shouldn't go fast that i should watch out for what's ahead of me
03:36because if you sleep bad if you keep more relief you have all these things that are affecting you
03:40both mentally and physically then your day is going to be worse so it's not always about what happens
03:45to you externally but it's what happens to you internally it's what you choose to do to better
03:50yourself to better your mental health now at the end of the day you got to keep choosing what's best
03:54for you there instead of thinking about the embarrassing thing you did or what might go wrong there
03:58all you really can do is do what's best for you now and if you're an athlete you're going to
04:04relate
04:04a lot to this you know i played division one college golf i was at a high level of golf
04:09and
04:10although i don't really play much anymore one thing i learned is you can't force the shot to go
04:15anywhere you can't control exactly where it goes all you can do is set up the best you can and
04:20swing
04:21the best you can and with everything that you have try to make the best shot you can because
04:26sometimes you might hit it out of bounds you might hit a bad shot and that'll happen
04:30but at the end of the day all you can do is choose what is best for you and try
04:34as hard as you can
04:35i'm on a new path now i know it goes different places but i'm just going to trust that i'm
04:39going
04:39the right direction and i know that almost sounds too simple but sometimes simplicity is what you need
04:48and i honestly think that phones have made it harder because you can stay inside your own head
04:51without really being alone i mean you can sit there checking what people are sending you just
04:57scrolling on youtube or tiktok and spend hours feeding the exact thought that you're trying to
05:03run away from because your algorithm is so much better than you realize and this video is probably
05:08placed in front of you for that reason because it's something that you resonate with as long as
05:12uh similar to how i do so first it's impressive that you're still watching so it's been over five
05:17minutes and uh i forget the analytics for about five minutes but say this video is going to be
05:22eight or nine minutes long only a quarter of people are watching almost right now and that shows that
05:27you can sit through anything but my question is what you do after it because motivation only takes you
05:34so far this thought and idea of you um trying to simplify your life i don't want to say escape
05:40your
05:40life because you have to be present in your life actually it's the opposite of escaping your life
05:44how are you going to choose to be present with your life and i want you to think about that
05:48so you can think about that then you can think about how you'll apply that and if you can apply
05:52that
05:53then your life can be something that you'll appreciate more in the moment
05:59and that comes from anything that comes from chasing your dreams that comes from shooting your shot that
06:03comes from walking in and working out or doing your homework whatever it is but just simply hearing
06:09yourself explain something can be surprisingly useful because in your head you can fill every
06:16blank with whatever you're afraid of you can decide what another person thinks of you before talking
06:21them you can think that the answer is no when in reality you haven't even tried but once you say
06:26it out loud
06:27sometimes the situation sounds much more normal and i've had to remind myself that thinking about
06:35something doesn't mean that you're automatically thinking about it better right sometimes you're
06:42just repeating yourself you're literally just thinking and on literal example of this how many
06:48times you say all right i'm gonna remember this so hard i'm gonna wake up and remember to do this
06:52maybe you got school you're like i'm gonna remember to finish this time to grab this and you forget about
06:55it and for if you're a content creator like me you know but this better than anything
07:00if you think i'm gonna make this video idea later you will forget bro i mean you gotta
07:04really write it down or just do it really just do it throw it in the notes just go get
07:10the
07:10assignment just go finish it because overthinking about anything just keeps you there hours later
07:16the problem won't change but you'll either forget about it or your mood has changed and you won't feel
07:20like doing it anymore and when that happens every day you will spend a ridiculous amount of life
07:27experiencing things that are only happening inside your head because you might worry about a
07:33conversation and then the conversation ends up being completely fine how often do you worry about
07:37a presentation and it ends up fine worry about how you're going to perform um in your sporting event
07:43and it ends up fine and i'm not saying it always will we're human we make mistakes we have the
07:48ability
07:48to perform at 100 percent or zero percent and sometimes you aren't going to perform at your best
07:54but you will sometimes but at the end of the day you're going to have that neutral expected value
07:59of being as good as you are and that expected value of 50 percent is just the average of everything
08:05that you decide to do every day and that means today choose things that will better you choose
08:10things that will push you to be a better person
08:15because maybe it's easier to say than to do but your mind does what it does and you can't shut
08:21off
08:21every thought that you have you know when it tells you to to not do something to lock to not
08:28lock in
08:29then you won't do it but what you can do is notice when you've been sitting with the way that
08:35you
08:35thought for too long and for me that's usually a sign that i need to stop trying to get an
08:41answer for a while
08:42so you can come back to it later most problems you have will still be there an hour from now
08:47and if something really does need your attention then you will probably handle it better after
08:53giving yourself some distance anyways sometimes the worst thing you do is react right away to a problem
08:58that has time
09:05because you might have one thing that's bothering you well hundreds of other things are fine but your brain is
09:11so bad at figuring out what are the actual problems are so the one bad thing gets all your attention
09:18instead of all the goods
09:20because you can have people who care about you you can have work that you're proud of you can
09:26have a totally normal day happening but your mind is stuck on that one thing
09:32and i know personally i've wasted hours over one bad thing that the next day didn't even matter
09:37right and that's simply because you are just stuck in your head you were stuck somewhere else in your head
09:43and where you should be so that is the entire point of this video don't be stuck in your head
09:49because there's always going to be something that you worry about even when life is going well there's
09:53going to be something you're uncertain about but you watching 10 minutes straight of this video is
09:58proof that you can really lock in and change something you can lock in and pay attention to something
10:04so be the difference that your life needs before it's too late to make that difference
10:09so be the difference
10:09so be the difference
10:10so be the difference
10:10so be the difference
10:10so be the difference
10:11so be the difference
10:12so be the difference
10:13so be the difference
10:13so be the difference
10:13so be the difference
10:14so be the difference
