00:00You know, listen, I am a gigantic fan of my football team, and you know this.
00:04I'm a very, very, very, very, very big-time supporter of my football program,
00:09the University of Miami.
00:10They put up over 854 yards last night against FAMU, 77-7.
00:17I want to make a point to you on why we still play these football games,
00:20and I know I'm going to sound like, oh, man, get off my lawn here.
00:24But when we won our national championship back in 1987,
00:28here were the first five games that we played, Florida, Arkansas, FSU, Maryland, and Auburn.
00:35Why are we doing these games today?
00:38With the amount of money that's being spread around, why are we still playing games like this?
00:43If you take a look at Indiana, look at how Indiana plays as well.
00:47Makes no sense to play these games.
00:49Now, look, on the other side of this, there's no doubt those FAMU kids get an opportunity
00:53to be on the same football field,
00:55and scouts are there watching many of the Miami football players.
00:59Maybe they get noticed.
01:00And on top of that, I am a gigantic supporter of HBCU football.
01:07There's no doubt that that is one of the most overlooked football times and programs in the country.
01:14It's HBCU teams.
01:17Okay?
01:18You've got to be able to schedule some of these games.
01:20I get the money, too.
01:22There's $1.7 million that's going to FAMU.
01:26But, man, you learn nothing from that.
01:28You're just absolutely nothing.
01:30Even though Dorian Mensah did have some comments about what he saw with the backups.
01:35Solid outing.
01:37I think the focus was just having the points right in protection tonight.
01:40They brought a lot of blitz and showed a lot of blitzes on tape.
01:43And so I think our O-line did a great job executing that.
01:46And what was it like seeing both Luke and Gary Colman get their time and be able to show what
01:51they can do in the offense?
01:52It's awesome.
01:53Those two dudes worked their butts off.
01:55And to see them get in the game.
01:56I mean, they've been playing this game for as long as I have.
01:58I'm sure it means a lot to them.
02:00It means just as much to me.
02:02Another game where you're able to kind of spread the ball around.
02:05You know, Josh, touchdown, Melanie.
02:07Now, look, I really don't take a lot away from that game.
02:1177-7 against an inferior opponent.
02:14There is no question about it.
02:16We need to do something in college football to stop games like this.
02:20And, again, I get it, too.
02:21We were talking prior to the show.
02:23You know, there's many of those kids that didn't get an opportunity to play at, you know, these Power 4
02:27programs.
02:28And this is their one moment in the sun.
02:31Then you get on the football field and reality starts to hit.
02:34We're in a time now where we need to see the best football teams playing the best football teams in
02:39the country.
02:39If you truly want to become a national championship contender, you've got to get out there and you've got to
02:46understand that you've got to have your football team primed and ready against great opponents.
02:51The only way you're going to find out how good you are is playing against great people.
02:56And, really, on that Miami schedule, the next big-time opponent will be November 7th when they take on Notre
03:02Dame.
03:02That's going to be one of the games of the year.
03:04There is no question about it.
03:06We will see how Miami is.
03:08And I'll tell you this, Dorian Mensah and Malachi Tony are truly at the top of the list when it
03:13comes to the Heisman Trophy.
