00:36:22every driver loves the challenge of racing on a new track for the first time
00:36:25and that's the case for all the drivers here at the Madrid circuit
00:36:31after the first couple of corners through 1 and 2
00:36:34you then thunder down towards 5-6 complex of speeds close to 200 miles an hour
00:36:39it's going to be double file into here
00:36:41but then single file as you head through the rest of this complex
00:36:44before you go up the hill and through the tunnel towards turn 7
00:36:52you accelerate quickly out of turn 6
00:36:54as you head up the hill towards turn 7
00:36:57and there's a steep incline here
00:36:58we're in the heart of the braking zone at the 50 metre board
00:37:01and it's impossible from here inside the car to see the apex
00:37:07at the apex itself
00:37:08you slow down to second gear around 45 to 50 miles an hour
00:37:12if you lock up you've got a quick decision to make
00:37:15do you run off wide to the runoff zone
00:37:16or battle the car all the way to the wall on the exit
00:37:19and all of this can damage your momentum through turn 8
00:37:27after the chicane of turns 7, 8 and 9
00:37:30you arrive at this part of the track

00:37:53this is something it's an epic track
00:37:56it's I like it because the corners follow into each other
00:37:59and you've got to be to know where to carry the speed

00:38:29you're really at the edge of adhesion
00:38:31from all four tyres in the car
00:38:33you're playing with the track limits on the right hand side
00:38:36watch out for the blue and white lines
00:38:37on the exit of the corner
00:38:39you have the wall waiting for you
00:38:41and it's intimidating
00:38:42especially if you're in the turbulence of the car in front
00:38:49after the last two 90 degree right hand corners
00:38:51you end up back onto the start finish straight
00:38:53and after 57 laps on Sunday
00:38:56we'll find out who's mastered the new Madrid circuit
00:38:59better than all the rest
00:39:05we will and I think the main question is
00:39:08who can be lightest on the tyres
00:39:10but just getting into this corner
00:39:11that we've all been talking about coming into
00:39:14this monumental 550 metres 270 degrees
00:39:17it goes in almost a complete circle
00:39:19or three quarters of a circle
00:39:21and of course a 13 degree of banking
00:39:23are we going to see wheel to wheel action there
00:39:25please
00:39:26I would really like so
00:39:27I was really hopeful
00:39:28it's not up to me

00:42:11how much they're losing in lap time
00:42:13then that has the potential to become a one stop
00:42:16and that's the decision that's going to need to be made
00:42:18across these drivers and the pit walls today

00:42:22in terms of the energy that goes into the tyres
00:42:25this is the biggest track of the year
