Do you have a flashlight, batteries, a can of tuna fish, and a hand crank radio stuffed into your 50-pound bug-out bag? Does your grandmother have one too? How about your young son or daughter with chronic physical problems in need of regular prescription medicine? Do they have their bug out bag stuffed under their bed next to their Barbie doll or Darth Vader sword?
Are you really prepared? Or are you kidding yourself?
Are you prepared for this, which Jesus prophesied, "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened" (Matthew 24:21-22). In other scriptures, Jesus gives information on how to prepare (cf. Luke 21:36; Revelation 3:7-10).
Are ALL true Christians going to be protected? Or does Revelation 12:14-17 reveal two groups of believers, one group that is protected and the other which is subject to Satanic persecution?

00:04Greetings, friends. This is Steve Dupuis for the Bible News Prophecy Program with Dr. Bob Thiel,
00:09bringing you news and analysis of world events in light of Bible prophecy.
00:14Dr. Thiel, realizing the current state of the world today, I know there are a lot of preppers.
00:21Are most prepping plans realistic?
00:23No, not particularly. One reason I want to talk about this is I saw an article that basically says most
00:30prepping plans assume you're healthy and alone.
00:33Most households are neither. And it says basically that prepping plans are based on what looks like a healthy young
00:40male who can do all kinds of stuff.
00:42But the reality, they said in the United States, you've got elderly parents, young children, people on medications and people
00:50who have other issues.
00:51And that the government plans, even if you do everything that they say, isn't going to be enough, particularly if
01:00you've got any of those other things going on and what's going to happen when there's no electricity.
01:05And so they say that this is not a rare special need category. It's ordinary American life.
01:13And so basically it's saying prepping plans aren't realistic.
01:17Look, there's real and fake true versus false prepping.
01:21And actually, the coming situation is going to hit the United States.
01:24It's going to be much worse than what many preppers and others think might happen.
01:28How much worse can it get?
01:30Worse than it's ever been. Jesus said in Matthew 24, 21,
01:38Now, while some Americans will survive for a time what's coming, many are going to become slaves.
01:54Now, a lot are probably going to flee to bunkers in the mountains, et cetera.
01:58And that's actually talked about in Amos 3, but also in Lamentations, Jeremiah wrote,
02:08They pursued us on the mountains and lay wait for us in the wilderness.
02:11So even flaying in those kind of places isn't going to be sufficient.
02:16And most who aren't killed are going to be made slaves.
02:22And hiding in the mountains might protect the few for a time, but not forever.
02:27Very few will make it.
02:28They're going to be pursued.
02:29Hence, that type of prepping plan is not biblically sound.
02:34Then how should I prep for reality?
02:38Do what Jesus said.
02:39Luke 21, 36.
02:41Watch, pray always, you may count it where you escape all these things that will come to pass.
02:46And in Revelation 3, starting verse 7, to the Church of Philadelphia, Jesus says,
02:52I know your works.
02:54I set you before an open door.
02:56Work to proclaim the gospel and do God's work.
02:59And verse 10, because you kept my command to persevere, I'll keep you from the hour of trial
03:04that shall come upon the whole world to test those who dwell on it.
03:08So Jesus told his followers, watch, pray, support God's work.
03:12Change enough to be counterproductive to escape these things.
03:15Physical protection from the coming hour of trial is possible to those who properly heed the word of God.
03:22And Jesus clarified that he's specifically referring to protection for the Philadelphian Christians.
03:28When you say Philadelphian Christians, is there any other type of Christian?
03:34Well, there's false ones, but as far as true Christians, there's seven different types mentioned in Revelation.
03:39And according to Jesus, the bulk of the end time are going to be Laodicean Christians.
03:45Now, if you go to Revelation 12, pick up verse 14.
03:51Jesus said, or the book of Revelation says,
03:54But the woman, the church, was given two wings of a great eagle,
03:57that she may fly to the wilderness to her place where she's nourished for a time, time, and half a
04:01time.
04:02Three and a half years.
04:03That's only part of the church.
04:06Then with verse 17, the true Christians, that is,
04:10it says,
04:11The dragon, the devil, was enraged with the woman, the church.
04:14He went to make war with the rest of her offspring.
04:17These are true Christians because they keep the commands of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
04:21So two types of Christians are discussed there.
04:24One group that goes to the wilderness, which, by the way, it's not heaven because heaven is not a wilderness,
04:28and the rest who don't properly flee.
04:31And those who want to possibly be protected by God need to pay attention to his words through the prophet
04:37Zephaniah.
04:39What did the prophet Zephaniah say?
04:43God said to write down,
04:46Gather yourselves together.
04:47Yes, gather together, O undesirable nation.
04:51And when are they to gather together?
04:53Verse 2.
04:55Before the decree is issued, or the day passes like chaff,
04:58before the Lord's fierce anger comes upon you.
05:01Before the day of the Lord.
05:03So this is going to happen before the start of the Great Tribulation.
05:07Some decree is going to be issued.
05:09Now, the New Testament also tells us that we're supposed to gather together as we go closer to the end.
05:17Hebrews 10, 23.
05:20I'm going to read this from God's Word translation.
05:23We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing.
05:29Instead, we need to continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming.
05:36So, is it these Philadelphian Christians that are supposed to either continue or start to gather together?
05:44Yes, Stephaniah talked about a peculiar, undesirable nation.
05:49And Jesus said, the world hates us.
05:52And Peter wrote in 1 Peter 2 that we're a peculiar people, an undesirable nation.
05:58And I want to read something from the Apostle Paul.
06:012 Thessalonians 2, starting verse 1.
06:05Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him,
06:10we ask you not to be shaken in mind or word as if the day of the Lord had already
06:15come.
06:16Day of Christ had come.
06:17Well, that shows us that the preppers were wrong.
06:20But also, we're still telling us to gather together.
06:22We see this in the Old Testament.
06:23We see this in the New Testament.
06:26Now, how do we know Zephaniah is talking about Christians?
06:31Verse 3, Zephaniah 2.
06:33Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, who have upheld his justice.
06:39Seek righteousness, although God's commandments are righteousness, Psalm 119, 172.
06:43And seek humility.
06:45This is talking about Philadelphian Christians.
06:47They are humble enough to accept the church authority,
06:51even by a low-level prophet in the absence of a clear apostle.
06:55They're humble enough not to think they should remain independent, like many have done so.
07:01Now, why does God tell them to gather together?
07:04Well, here's an interesting reason.
07:07It may be that you'll be hidden in the day of the Lord's anger.
07:12Interestingly, the Hebrew words translated Zephaniah means Yahweh hides, or God has hidden.
07:19Okay?
07:20And by the way, the Old Worldwide Church of God taught that Zephaniah 2 had to do with protection
07:25for those spiritually ready back in 1979.
07:30Why do you say Zephaniah has to do with Philadelphian Christians?
07:35Because they're the only ones who are going to gather together as they should.
07:39And it's only to the Philadelphians that Jesus promises to protect from the coming hour of trial,
07:45which he also called the Great Tribulation.
07:48The Philadelphians are the ones who will respond to the decree.
07:54Tell us more about this decree that will be issued.
07:59It's going to be a decree that Philadelphians will listen to, then flee.
08:03When's it going to be issued?
08:06Jesus' words, Matthew 24, 15.
08:10Therefore, when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet standing in a holy place,
08:17whoever reads, let him understand.
08:20So that's about when it's going to be done.
08:22What happens next, Jesus says?
08:25Verse 16.
08:26Let those in Judea flee in the mountains.
08:29Who's on the housetop don't get anything out of his house, etc.
08:33What are those who are pregnant or nursing in those days?
08:36And pray that your flight not be in the winter or on the Sabbath.
08:39Obviously, talking about Sabbatarian Christians at the end time.
08:42But then there'll be Great Tribulation, etc.
08:45Anyway, why is there going to be a decree?
08:48Apparently, to make it easier for people who believe what Jesus said,
08:51to better understand that Matthew 24, 15, Daniel 9, 27b, Daniel 11, 31, have been fulfilled.
09:01Well, who's going to make this decree?
09:04Well, let's go to Amos, chapter 3, verse 7.
09:10Surely, the Lord God does nothing unless he reveals his secret to his servants, the prophets.
09:16A lion has roared.
09:17Who will not fear?
09:19The Lord God has spoken.
09:21Who can but prophesy?
09:23So, the prophet may make the decree personally and or pass it on to others in the church to make
09:31this.
09:32Anyway, who's the only Church of God in the 21st century that teaches all of this?
09:36The Continuing Church of God, which is the organization that I believe best represents the Philadelphian remnant in this Laodicean
09:44era.
09:45If you're not with the group that's leading the final phase of the work, you're not going to fly or
09:51flee when it's the time.
09:56Anyway, remember, God's word through Zephaniah admonishes God's people to gather together before the decree is issued.
10:03Of course, most are going to scoff at this, and most Church of God don't have anybody they consider a
10:10prophet.
10:10And those other than us, which do, have prophets that have been proven to be false.
10:16You're touching again on prepping.
10:18Could you give us some verses that give us some direction on how to prepare?
10:24Well, I partially quoted Jesus' words in Luke 21, but let's go back there.
10:31He said, be careful that the daily cares of his life, make it so you don't see what's happening.
10:39Verse 36, watch therefore and pray always, you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come
10:45to pass and stand before the Son of Man.
10:48Watch and pray always.
10:49This comes from Jesus, but many scoff at prophecy for different reasons.
10:54Yet, being a prophetic scoffer is a mistake.
10:57Yet, Jesus is telling people something to do in order to prep.
11:01Jesus realized that people didn't pay attention to prophecy and to pray always.
11:06They wouldn't take the steps to be kind of worthy to escape.
11:09God uses prophecy as a motivator to people.
11:12He used that, for example, for Jonah and Warren at Nineveh, and they repented.
11:18Now, Jesus taught rough times are going to come.
11:20In Mark 13, 7 and 8, you read about the nation's going to rise against nation.
11:27There'll be earthquakes, famines, troubles.
11:30Those are beginning of sorrows.
11:32Then he said later, the great tribulation is going to come.
11:36Look, we all should be prepared for temporary emergencies and situations, but physical prepper plans for what's going to hit
11:44the United States, they're not the answer.
11:47Neither is pretending that prophesied disasters aren't going to come, and you don't need to worry yourself about it.
11:55You know, it says in Proverbs 22, verse 3, a prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple
12:04pass on and are punished.
12:06So ignoring the prophecy, saying, oh, God's going to take care of me if I don't do what he says.
12:11People think they're doing what God says, but they don't gather together with the Philadelphia brethren that they're not.
12:16Yeah, and Jesus also said, Matthew 24, starting in verse 43, but know this, if the master of the house
12:26had known what hour the thief would come, he'd have watched.
12:29Verse 44, therefore, also be ready for the Son of Man's coming at an hour you do not expect.
12:34Okay, who then is a faithful and wise servant, who the master will make ruler over his household?
12:40Blessed is a servant whom his master, when he comes, he will find so doing.
12:48Most will not be supporting the Philadelphia portion of church work of God as they should.
12:53The plain truth is most Christians will not be protected from what's coming.
12:56You can verify that yourself by reading Revelation 3, 7 through 22.
13:05In Revelation 12, 14 to 17, we need to put our confidence in God, not bunkers.
13:13Hiding in mountains is not going to save many.
13:17You know, there's a lot of false and fake prepping.
13:20By the way, there's no place in the United States that's going to be a biblical place of safety, nor
13:25Canada, for that matter.
13:27Now, none of this means you shouldn't have any emergency supplies.
13:30Remember the ant, Old Testament says.
13:34But Jesus taught in Matthew 6 that God knows all your physical needs, and if you'll seek first his kingdom
13:40and his righteousness, God will provide your needs.
13:43While having supplies for emergency is supported by Scripture, the idea of preparing or prepping physically to survive things like
13:51the Great Tribulation is simply not.
13:55We are told to gather together as Philadelphian Christians.
14:00To be carnally minded is death, according to Romans 8, 6, but that's what most of the preppers are doing.
14:08We need to engage in real, true, and scripturally reliable prepping.
