The federal government has unveiled its long-awaited migration crackdown clamping down on backpacker visas international students and their families. The Home Affairs Minister outlined the changes today insisting Labor will bring down overseas arrivals and meet its migration targets.

00:10The first of the absurd claims is that Australia is a nation of mass migration.

00:46In a bid to ban visa hopping, Labor will make it harder for international students to extend their stay by

00:53And as revealed by the ABC, they'll be banned from bringing family members to Australia on secondary visas.

01:28All aimed at achieving one goal, to reduce net overseas migration.
01:32The figures come down from 300,000 to 992,000.
01:37Labor's target is 225,000 by 2028.
