00:00but there are death threats coming for Lane Kiffin.
00:04There are harm being threatened on the LSU football program.
00:09And yesterday, Pete Golding was asked about it,
00:12about what he thinks about the security measures
00:15and what type of message he would give to the fans of Ole Miss
00:20with Lane Kiffin coming to town.
00:22Pete, obviously the football game is the number one priority,
00:25but if you had to say something to the fans of the Ole Miss fan base,
00:30what would you tell the fans how to act this weekend?
00:32Yeah, so to me, I mean, what this place has always been about, you know,
00:36and why so many people love coming here and respect this place
00:39is because of the people that are here
00:41and how they make them feel when they come here.
00:43And that's always been something for me when you come here
00:46and you meet Ole Miss and alumni and all that.
00:48You know, they're so respectful.
00:50They're appreciative.
00:51You know, they're very welcoming.
00:53There's a competitive part of everybody, right,
00:55that obviously we're going to create a really, really good environment
00:58like they always have for a top ten matchup
01:00for it to be really hard to play offense in that stadium
01:04and be there early and be loud.
01:06But I think at the end of it, there's still a respect piece,
01:09and this place has always been known to have really, really good people.
01:13And that's the one thing to me about Oxford.
01:15The first thing you talk about is the people there.
01:17And so let's not lose that over a game, over a person,
01:20or anything else like that.
01:21There's nothing wrong with being competitive and being in the moment, right,
01:24and being really loud and being an unbelievable fan
01:26and providing an unbelievable atmosphere for our players
01:29and really hard to play in for their players.
01:31But at the end of the day, don't lose what we've created
01:33and what they've created for so long,
01:35which is a really unique place with really, really good people
01:39that's really hard to play.
01:41And so I think that's what it'll be,
01:42and that's what it's always been since I've been here.

01:50Because as blind boy Johnny says,
01:53I have personal experience with Ole Miss.
01:55They would not urinate on him, Kiffin,
01:57if he were on fire on the side of the road.
02:01That's my experience too with people that I know
02:04who are fans of Ole Miss.
02:07They hate this guy with a flaming passion.
02:10They hate Lane Kiffin.
02:12They hate him for leaving.
02:14They hate him for going to LSU.
02:15They hate him for basically putting them in the position
02:19where they had to find a coach in the middle of a playoff run.
02:22And he did to Ole Miss what he has done
02:26to numerous other football programs.
02:28And I think there's egg on the face of folks in Oxford
02:32who were warned about Lane Kiffin.
02:35They were warned about the guy.
02:37They were warned about his reputation.
02:38They were warned about what he would do.
02:41And he was winning.
02:43And winning is contagious.
02:46Winning is electric.
02:47You want to keep that going for as long as possible.
02:50And when you get left for another program,
02:54in college football, you kind of go,
02:56all right, fine.
02:58Ole Miss isn't the biggest university.
03:01It doesn't have the deepest pockets.
03:02It's a very, you know, it's an SEC school.
03:05So it has lots of money.
03:06But just by comparison to an LSU in Alabama,
03:09they don't contend.
03:11They don't have the same money.
03:12So it's a very poor state.
03:14And so they don't have the ability to spend on a coach
03:18the same way that other programs would spend on a coach.
03:22So I don't even have to take on those awards.
