00:05that Congress built as a memorial to John F. Kennedy
00:08after he was assassinated.
00:10Trump took over its board last year,
00:12firing members and getting himself elected as chairman.
00:15On Tuesday, that board voted to shut down the main building,
00:17saying it's unsafe,
00:19making it now the third time since February
00:21the board voted to close it.
00:22Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick posted a security video
00:25of the ceiling caving into the lobby
00:27and said the center loses 80 to $100 million a year
00:30and only Trump can raise the money
00:32to keep it out of bankruptcy.
00:34Here's the thing though,
00:35Congress already put up $250 million for the renovation,
00:38but the board says it can't raise the rest without Trump.
00:42And Trump wants his name added to the building first
00:45next to Kennedy's or he will not help.
00:47About an hour before the vote,
00:49a judge blocked the name for the second time in five months.
00:53According to the Associated Press,
00:54he wrote that the board can't install memorials for Trump
00:57or anyone or anything else without Congress.
00:59Then Trump wrote on Truth Social that the renovation won't even start
01:02until an appeals court rules on his name.
01:05If that goes against him and the Supreme Court doesn't overturn it,
01:08he wrote the renovation won't happen at all.
01:11The board's lawyers say the lawsuit is what stopped repairs,
01:14but the judge said his order always allowed emergency repairs.
01:17Beatty, the congresswoman suing to stop this,
01:19calls it hostage taking.
01:20The board calls it a rescue.
01:22The doors are currently closed and the whole thing reopening
01:24now hangs on whether Trump's name makes it onto the wall.
