Trinamool name, symbol on interim freeze; factions told to pick new ones
ಕೋಲ್ಕತ್ತಾ: ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳದ ರಾಜಕೀಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರಿ ಸಂಚಲನ ಮೂಡಿಸುವ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಯೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗವು (ECI) ಅಖಿಲ ಭಾರತ ತೃಣಮೂಲ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ (TMC) ಪಕ್ಷದ ಹೆಸರು ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಅಧಿಕೃತ "ಹುಲ್ಲು ಮತ್ತು ಹೂವು" (Flowers and Grass) ಚಿಹ್ನೆಯನ್ನು ತಾತ್ಕಾಲಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮುಟ್ಟುಗೋಲು (ಫ್ರೀಜ್) ಹಾಕಿದೆ.
ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳದ ಎರಡು ವಿಧಾನಸಭಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳ ಉಪಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಹೆಸರು ಹಾಗೂ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಚಿಹ್ನೆ ಬಳಕೆ ಕುರಿತು ತೃಣಮೂಲ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ನ ಪ್ರತಿಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿ ಬಣಗಳ ನಡುವಿನ ವಿವಾದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗ ಗುರುವಾರ ಮಧ್ಯಂತರ ಆದೇಶ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿದೆ.
In an interim decision on Thursday, the Election Commission ordered a freeze on the name and election symbol of the All India Trinamool Congress, and directed the two rival factions to select new names and symbols until the dispute is resolved. The EC’s decision comes 10 days after it announced bypolls in two Assembly constituencies in West Bengal — Nandigram and Rejinagar — on October 6. Both the factions, led by Mamata Banerjee and Arup Roy, have nominated candidates for the bypolls.
