00:00As we get ready for this ballgame, man, it is a really interesting situation.
00:05It is a really interesting injury situation.
00:09Chig and Luvu, kind of the headliners there.
00:12The injury list continues to grow.
00:14I do want to keep the phone lines open, 800-636-1067.
00:19800-636-1067.
00:22B, is there a player you think could kind of have a breakout here?
00:26And for me, I wonder, we saw Jaden get hot in the fourth quarter.
00:32I think Jaden's body of work suggests that we can expect that to continue.
00:38We saw Sonny Stiles play quite well in the second half against Philadelphia.
00:41I'm thinking that that dude right there can be the guy that has a breakout.
00:46Because what we were discussing yesterday with, who was the talk, I forgot who he was on the phone with.
00:51And I kept saying that when he learns how to use all the tools he has, he's going to be
01:00a problem for people.
01:01And you watch him as he's learning.
01:04He has extreme confidence.
01:06But as he's learning, he's succeeding.
01:09Like normally when someone is learning, they don't have that ability to get over the hump.
01:14This dude is already making plays and really don't know how to play at this level just yet.
01:19Totally.
01:19He's playing a position where I don't think he's been in this position long enough to really have the linebacker
01:31play down.
01:32And as he grows in this thing right now with having a dad that played in the league, the way
01:39he works,
01:40I just think he's going to be a problem for some people, man.
01:43Totally.
01:44He looks like he's going to be a problem.
01:45Yes.
01:46Yes.
01:46I think offensively, I thought the O-line was pretty good.
01:52I don't think – now, what do you think was more real, that Dallas' defense is the same old thing
01:58or that they just laid an egg in week one?
02:00The Giants took it to them.
02:02Right.
02:02And that's what it's going to come down to.
02:04Like, I played with a bunch of guys that weren't the biggest all the time, the Hawks.
02:12But they had a mindset that we're kicking your ass when we step on the field.
02:17And they were ruthless.
02:19And Jeff Bossick, being the smallest of them all, he was a dude that would – you do something stupid
02:24or dirtier than anybody on the offense, he's getting you.
02:26And those guys came out with a certain level of aggression.
02:30And I think this O-line right here, they exceeded what people thought.
02:34100%.
02:34And then still, some people want to just find stuff because they didn't want to give them credit anyway.
02:38But they got to keep building on that.
02:40And then all of a sudden, if you just start running the ball and having some plays, don't let up.
02:46You want to finish the last play like you do the first.
02:50Pancake them.
02:50Do something to them.
02:52So, I just think that the offensive line, you know, if they could just keep building, they could be very,
02:58very good for them this year.
03:00Yeah, man.
03:00It's about – the offensive line is more about cohesion than it is about individual play.
03:07Yeah.
03:08I thought you saw some really good individual play, particularly Cosme I thought was really good in that game.
03:13But they, by and large, look to be a pretty cohesive bunch.
03:17Yeah, yeah.
03:18And I think that kind of can make a massive difference.
03:22You know what I'm saying?
03:23And you don't want to put too much pressure on Jaden.
03:26I'm not sure there's too much pressure on Jaden.
03:29He's got to play really well in this thing too.
03:31You can't have the slow start again, I don't think.
03:33Because I think Dallas will start hot.
03:35Mm-hmm.
03:36Dak Prescott has been very good against Washington.
03:39And I think Jaden's got to be ready.
03:43I kind of feel shootout-y here.
03:45I don't know if you agree with that, Brian.
03:47But, you know, if this thing ends up 28-24 or something, would that surprise you at all?
03:52No.
03:53No.
03:54It won't.
03:55But I believe that if this defense continues on the trek they're going, you're not going to see a lot
04:02of scores.
04:04I mean, do you think they can shut down the explosives?
04:08I don't think no team is going to shut down completely the explosives.
04:12They've got to limit them.
04:14One, you got it.
04:16But you can't give up four or five of them.
04:18You know what I mean?
04:19One or two, I understand.
04:21Because the thing that I think most people that cheer for teams forget, the other team is a bunch of
04:27pros that get paid to.
04:29So they're going to make some plays.
04:30But it's what you can limit.
04:32You know?
04:33And like I said earlier, don't make a bad angle at an interception.
04:38Don't try to make the big hit and miss the guy.
04:41You know, that type of stuff.
04:42And let them go on and run.
04:44Because those things really, really demoralize you.
04:46100%.
04:47I think I want to pull up DraftKings.
04:51Because one thing I looked at last week was Saquon's longest run.
04:56And how important imperative it was to keep him below that number.
05:02Not his total, but the individual longest run.
05:04They had him for 18 and a half yards.
05:07On 17 of his 18 carries, they kept him well below that.
05:11There was one that was the backbreaker that he got loose.
05:14And I think that's what you can't have in this game, is to give up the backbreakers.
05:20Yeah.
05:20I don't know.
05:21I'm looking now to see if they have the longest plays.
05:27What are some game specials in this thing?
05:31That's not what I'm looking for.
05:33I think, maybe it'll be here.
05:35Like, if you could keep Pickens low, is what you need to do.
05:41Yeah.
05:41Longest receptions.
05:43So, CeeDee Lamb, I mean, this is problematic.
05:46CeeDee Lamb Vegas has it set for his longest catch over under 26 and a half.
05:52Pickens, they have it set at 25 and a half.
05:55Yeah.
05:56Because, like, they run those plays where they wait.
06:02And that can – they have those long development plays.
06:07That is why I keep going back to the pass rush.
06:10Move him off the spot.
06:11Don't allow him to sit there and be able to wait for them to get their depth
06:15and then let the ball go.
06:16So, dude –
06:17Because if you wait, those two dudes can run, though.
06:20Yeah, for sure.
06:22Yeah.
06:22And they can get open and they can make contested catches.
06:24I mean, those guys are problematic.
06:27You know what I'm saying?
06:28I think, obviously, pass rush will be vital.
06:34Jeff just texted me.
06:35Someone just called to say,
06:36JP think he looked good because all the chemicals he has taken get into his head.
06:39The chemicals are Diet Coke.
06:41I don't think that has that direct effect.
06:43Do you?
06:45I don't know.
06:46I just think you're crazy to think you look that good.
06:48Let's go to Miles down in Florida.
06:49Miles, what's up, man?
06:50How did the commanders get a win in Dallas?
06:52Or maybe we won't go to Miles.
06:53That's the guy calling to insult me about my hair.
06:57I think – I just wonder if week one lies to us all, right?
07:05I don't know that Dallas is going to look as bad as they did against New York tomorrow –
07:11or Sunday, rather, against Washington.
07:14800-636-1067.
07:17800-636-1067.
07:20Sean is in Dallas.
07:21Sean, what's up, dude?
07:23What's up, guys?
07:25So, this game reminds me of two different games.
07:292024 when we played the Bengals, they were 0-2.
07:32Nobody gave us a chance.
07:33And how did we beat them?
07:35Time of possession, getting all the first downs,
07:38and just an offensive explosion, a breakout game.
07:40I think we have potential to do that this time.
07:43And also, you know, with time of possession,
07:45same thing that the Giants did last week against Dallas.
07:47Don't give them that many possessions.
07:49Don't give them a chance to score those explosive plays.
07:52And really, when we do get on defense,
07:53I think we have a chance to take the ball away with that –
07:56I mean, this defense is better than we've ever had, so I'm excited.
07:59Sean, do you live down in Dallas?
08:02Yeah, but I'm a Commanders fan, born and raised, DMV area.
08:06How is that going?
08:07I moved here like six months ago for a job.
08:08How's it going being a Commanders fan in Dallas?
08:12Honestly, nobody really cares about the Cowboys here like you think.
08:15Really?
08:15Maybe they're just kind of checked out.
08:18Yeah.
08:19Wow.
08:19Like, none of my co-workers really talk about the Cowboys like that.
08:21I think there'll be 100,000 people at Jerry World on Sunday
08:23who may disagree with you.
08:25But I appreciate the call, man.
08:26Thank you for listening.
08:27All right, man.
08:28Yes, sir.
08:29I wonder, B, some of these numbers I think are astonishingly low.
08:34You could get Antonio Williams for four catches or more plus 278.
08:44It's kind of juicy.
08:45Antonio Williams scoring the touchdowns plus 450.
08:48Do you think Dallas, after seeing last week, will make a point of like,
08:51all right, we're not going to let this rookie carve us up underneath?
08:53No, they're going to say they don't want Terry to carve you up.
08:55They don't want Diggs to carve you up.
08:57They're going to say, hell, that probably was a fluke last week.
08:59Let's see if he's going to do that again.
09:03Because the other two guys have done it for seven and, what, 12 years?
09:09Being in College Park, should we have a Steph Diggs conversation about the drops?
09:14Do you think that's a one-off?
09:16Because that is not normal in his career.
09:19I think it's a one-off.
09:19I don't believe it's nothing that's going to continue.
09:22You know, you got the first game, a couple of them, like,
09:25you're trying to go down for the ball and catch it, too.
09:28So, I think that's more of a one-off.
09:29I don't see Diggs playing like that more often.
09:32I agree with you, man.
09:34And then the penalty is obviously a one-off.
09:37Like, if he gets that penalty again, I'll give Stallion 100 bucks.
09:42Like, I think that was just a – he was fired up in the moment.
09:47He was fired up, you know.
09:48And, like, the thing of it is, after watching that game,
09:52who in their right mind just writes off Steph Diggs?
09:56You know, I've heard people say this.
09:59And, listen, bro, I'm dialing the number.
10:02I said, let me hang up before I say the wrong stuff to the wrong people.
10:05I wanted to say, how stupid can you be?
10:08You can't write him off.
10:09The dude has done too much good.
10:12And the thing about it, yes, you play pro football, but you're not perfect.
10:16You're going to have some drops.
10:17You're going to have some things happening.
10:19But I will go and give you nine times out of ten, I'm going with him.
10:23You know, we focus on the injuries in Washington.
10:26How significant do you think the injuries are in Dallas?
10:28They're without Malik Hooker and the linebacker Obershaw.
10:31Like, that's –
10:31They are probably – I mean, the injuries are there.
10:35But I – I listen, bro.
10:37I live here, so I guess I hear it more often.
10:42We let injuries overtake us more than we think about the overall construction of the team.
10:50Guys are going to get nicked up throughout a season.
10:52And then the guy behind them has to be able to step up and play, point blank.
10:56When a guy is injured, I think we put too much time into that guy who's injured.
11:01But I'm not completely doc where – I'm only going to talk about the guys that's playing.
11:07But if the guy ain't playing, then I'm not going to put too much talk on it.
11:11I want to find out if the next guy can play.
11:14Roster question for you.
11:15If Chig is down – and still an if, right?
11:19He's a DNP through two days.
11:21Sounds like he's going to be a DNP through three days.
11:22Although they could always list him as limited and say he came on the field after the media left, right?
11:29If Chig is down, Jalen Lane is also on the injury report with a groin.
11:37Limited Wednesday, limited Thursday.
11:40Do you have to keep McCaffrey up – last week McCaffrey and Burks were down.
11:44Do you have to keep McCaffrey up as your kick returner?
11:49Who they had back with Jalen last week?
11:51Rashad White.
11:52White.
11:54White could still be the kick returner.
11:56Not the punt returner is what I'm thinking about.
11:57Who's next on that?
11:59I don't know, man.
12:00Because I think Luke backs him up on both of those.
12:04Well, I know Antonio Williams.
12:05Antonio does punt return as well.
12:08And you can say, hey, catch the ball because he's secure.
12:13You know, you might say, look, we don't want you taking no risk because we don't want you to get
12:16you hurt.
12:17Catch it.
12:19Now, these guys are all limited.
12:21Limited, but Dorrance is on there limited.
12:23Chason is on there limited.
12:25Amenahu is on there limited.
12:27Owe is on there limited.
12:28Limited is – that's just a new way.
12:30You got to – the guy – everybody got something.
12:32And that limited thing, I don't really care about that one.
12:35I agree.
12:36I'm just saying –
12:36It wants to get past limited.
12:38Like, the injury reports, they're not exactly what they tell you.
12:46They play games with that all the time.
12:49Every team does.
12:50Christian Parker is the Cowboys defensive coordinator.
12:53Parker said this week, every call isn't going to be perfect.
12:57And he added, these are fixable mistakes.
13:00I don't know how much of that game against the Giants you got to watch.
13:02But in the two minute at the end of the first half, when this was still a ball game, they
13:08were just getting trucked and no – any little dump off to the backs and the flat was just good
13:13for 15.
13:14Is that fixable?
13:15Like, is that what you're calling?
13:17It – it's fixable if the guys are getting in the right position and want to make a tackle.
13:26But some of those defensive backs didn't look like they wanted to play football.
13:30Agreed.
13:31You know, they – you got guys that come into the area and they take extra time to take the
13:35steps to go make the play.
13:36They don't want to hit nobody.
13:38I remember playing against the Eagles my last year here.
13:44And I got to the Eagles when I finally went there in 2000.
13:48And a lot of guys had attitude because I used to talk so much trash to their defensive backs.
13:51And I said, look, bro, y'all can't get mad at me because y'all wanted to play touch football.
13:56I said, y'all were scared to hit.
13:58And I say, you're going to find out in practice.
14:00I'm bringing the same thing I was bringing to y'all when I was with the Redskins.
14:03And in practice, I would come – and some guys didn't want to hit.
14:07And some guys wouldn't mind.
14:09They changed their minds real quick.
14:10Because now the dude that was talking trash is in your locker room.
14:13And if you miss that damn play while I'm in your locker room, we're going to have problems.
14:17I remember I went to high school with this kid named Paul Longo, good athlete, and played football and basketball.
14:23And Longo, man, was to always go hard no matter what.
14:27And I remember there would be some basketball practices.
14:29We'd have to have like Saturday morning practices.
14:32And there would be some of us that were looking to chill.
14:34You could guess where I've landed.
14:37Yeah, you wanted to.
14:38And Longo never would.
14:39And at the time, it was like, come on, man, relax.
14:41It's Saturday at 9 a.m.
14:43And in hindsight, like, he's right.
14:46You got to go with it.
14:47Like, I was coaching soccer last night.
14:49And I was making the girls, like, run back to the line.
14:53You know what I mean?
14:53Like, that's the right way to play the game.
14:56Hell yeah.
14:57Now, the Cowboys have two stud defensive tackles in Kenny Clark and Quinton Williams.
15:03Brian Schottenheimer this week said of those two, they didn't play to the dominant ability that they have.
15:10Do you think Kenny Clark and Quinton Williams, interior guys, could have a big impact on this game?
15:18And they're going to try because, you know, that coach basically called them out with that play.
15:23Yeah.
15:23With that statement.
15:25But also, there are people who didn't think that our interior played better.
15:31Many people think they played worse than they did.
15:34Well, if they're hearing that, they don't want to let those two guys begin to find their footing against them.
15:41B, the rally captain is on the line.
15:43What's up, Rally?
15:44Cap, what's the key to a win in Dallas?
15:47The keys to a win start this Saturday night at Boomer Jacks Grill for the fan rally.
15:53Let me tell you guys something.
15:55I don't think you guys know how many fans are actually coming down from the DMV and all over,
16:01repping that burgundy and gold to get this win in Dallas.
16:04That's the first key.
16:05The fans, we're going to give them a false start.
16:07We're going to have so many fans in that stadium, and we're going to give them a false start.
16:11But the key is coming out at the Boomer Jacks Bar and Grill Saturday at 5 p.m. to 7
16:16.30, 10-250 Technology Boulevard.
16:20We're going to have legends in the house.
16:22Cap, we might have to make you pay for this ad next time, man.
16:26No, this is free.
16:27This is free.
16:28Yeah, it's free for you.
16:29We get in trouble for this stuff.
16:30Tell me how they win the football game.
16:32They win the football game by our fans cheering loud and proud for them.
16:36And also, they win by stopping Turpin, I think he's going to be the X Factor on the serious tip.
16:41He has been really good against them.
16:43He's killed us.
16:45We've got to stop this special team, and I think it will be all right after that.
16:48All right?
16:49All right, Cap.
16:50Have fun tomorrow night.
16:52That's a good call from Rally Captain because Turpin has been a problem.
16:55Was that – that was two years ago during the 24 season when they were really good
17:00and Turpin ran that one back and they lost that game?
17:03I mean, that dude is –
17:04When they – the hesitation at the right of the goal line.
17:08Because I think he fumbled, right?
17:09Didn't he muff the kick?
17:09Yeah, and then somebody hesitated and crossed face, and he –
17:14Like, each side of the man, he ran up that field like somebody shot him on the cannon.
17:18Turpin is a hell of a return man.
17:19He also has done more in the pass game for them of late.
17:23You also have Brandon Aubrey on that side of the ball.
17:25I mean, Aubrey can boot it from 60, dude.
17:28Although, I think he missed one.
17:30Maybe it was an extra point.
17:31He missed something in Dallas, in New York last week that I was kind of surprised to see.
17:35But certainly the special teams are going to make an impact.
17:37You know what you'd like to see on special teams?
17:40Let's get one.
17:41Tyler Owens.
17:44Tyler Owens doing the damn thing.
17:46Hang it up.
17:46Let Tyler get the Turpin.
