In a candid interview, id Software's lead services programmer Chris Hays criticizes Microsoft's approach to game development following recent layoffs, stating the company 'fundamentally doesn't understand art' or games.

00:09Hayes blasted Microsoft with both barrels after layoffs earlier this year.
00:13It is hard to make a game that is AAA, that is like we've done before,
00:17with half the people, and by hard, I mean impossible.
00:20If they've got some kind of new plan for how this is going to work,
00:23that hasn't been told to us.
00:25Microsoft fundamentally don't understand art.
00:27They don't understand art, they don't understand games,
00:30they don't understand that business model.
00:32So, Microsoft has laid off scores of devs, and the ones that remain are furious.
00:36I think that might make it hard to make games, but I guess that's why I'm not the CEO.
