Go behind the scenes of Pragmata's development. We spoke with director Yonghee Cho about the initial announcement, the subsequent delays, and how the overwhelming player reaction pushed the team to create a game "even better than we initially imagined."
Transcript
00:00The first Pragmata trailer dropped way back in June 2020, and even went as far as stating
00:06the game would be out in 2022.
00:08Obviously, Capcom missed that date, and basically went radio silent on the game for years.
00:14Pragmata's had a happy ending after its April 2026 launch, but as the years and delays piled
00:20up, the team couldn't shake a familiar sense of regret after revealing the game so early.
00:25We spoke to director Yonghee Cho about the making of Pragmata, looking all the way back
00:30to that announcement trailer.
00:32It ended up being a surprisingly big deal within Capcom, not just because the date it promised
00:37loomed over the team, but also because it got a much bigger response than Capcom ever expected.
00:43When we made that initial announcement trailer, we honestly did not expect user interest to
00:48be as high as it was, Cho explains.
00:51Of course, the dev team wanted to make a good, fun game, but when we saw the player reaction
00:56and expectations, we realized making just a good game is now no longer enough.
01:02We have to make something that's even better than we initially imagined.
01:06In many ways, the early player response was a huge element that pulled Pragmata through
01:11its development.
01:12Ultimately, had we not released that trailer when we did, we wouldn't have the Pragmata
01:17trailer that we have now, Cho says.
