00:00Um, Sean, are you shocked with the growth of the NFL from the time a couple, you know, when I
00:06talked to you a couple of years ago, the growth of the National Football League, how surprised are you with
00:12the ratings and how surprised are you with where the NFL is TV ratings wise?
00:18You know, Dan, I don't know if I'm surprised. But I guess I guess I would say I am a
00:28little surprised at the dominance. I'm not surprised that they're still the number one content engine in all of media.
00:37But the fact that the rest of media has declined so much, and the NFL has grown.
00:43I mean, in a in a world, it used to be 100 million cable homes, and now there's only 50
00:49million cable homes. The fact that they are so dominant, I mean, nothing in the in the world comes close.
00:59You know, if you have a really successful primetime entertainment show, and you get nine or 10 viewers, that's great.
01:09I mean, you have a hit on your hands, NFL averages.
01:13I mean, you have a hit on your hands in the 425 window, about 25 million homes. And that's just
01:17for regular season. When you get to the postseason, you can get 3540, even 50 million. So there is nothing
01:25like it. And if you are a broadcast network, you need the NFL, you cannot exist without it. So the
01:33NFL has a lot of leverage.
01:36I think they, the next, the next round of negotiations, which could
01:43in as soon as a year, but probably no longer than four years, I think you're going to see even
01:49more growth in the billion dollars that media companies are spending to keep this valuable content. I mean, it's,
01:57there's Dan, there's Dan, there is nothing like it. NBA, which is enjoying success, you know, for the regular season
02:06will average a million and a half or 2 million viewers. And as I said before, the NFL, if you
02:12add all the games in, including the, you know, the one o'clock window, 425 window, Sunday night football, it
02:21averages about 15 or 16 million.
02:24So it's fun to watch. I was in the studio for 25 straight years every Sunday, but I love sitting
02:34on my couch and watching it at home right now.
