00:33Will he get a surgery?
00:34I don't know if we're going to find out today or not,
00:35but Dan Quinn speaks at 3.

00:39But there was basically one outcome yesterday that was calamitous.
00:42There was one outcome yesterday, or in any game, frankly,
00:45early this season that Washington plays,
00:47that lingers beyond that game.
00:49The disaster, the debacle would be if the quarterback got hurt again.
00:54This entire season to me.
00:55Everything this season was built to be and is going to turn into
01:00revolves around finding out if this quarterback can be durable
01:04and can stay on the field.
01:06And two quarters into game two of season three,
01:10with the same elbow injury, tragically, he's out again.
01:14Yeah, it's awful.
01:15I don't know a way around that.
01:17I love him so much.
01:18You can see what was happening.
01:21A lot of things were being taken away.
01:22It doesn't matter.
01:23You got the secret code.
01:23You have the weapon.
01:24You have third and 12.
01:25They've got a hand on him, and there's pressure.
01:28Oh, sorry, that's a 15-yard gain, and he slides to safety.
01:30And shoulders slump, and heads hang,
01:33and opposing fans know that there's nothing they can do to stop it.

01:39You've seen it.
01:40The magic of that quarterback that makes those heroic plays,
01:43the Mahomes, the Josh Allens, the superstars of this league,
01:47the back-breaking plays that turn negative for them into positive.
01:50You think you've got him in the grasp, and then you don't,
01:53and then it's another conversion.
01:55Again, breaking your back time after time.
01:57You can see it.
01:58God, he's so explosive.
01:59He's so smooth.

02:02He's great.

02:04He cannot stay healthy.
02:05He is injury-prone.

02:07It was the concern that I had coming out.

02:19The elbow two different times.

02:21Five different times he has had to either leave games or miss significant time
02:27or should have missed significant time with legit medical attention requiring injuries.
02:31Not the normal bumps and bruises that come with playing football at the highest level
02:34because it's a violent game.
02:35We know that.
02:36Serious injury.
02:37Five times before he started 30 games.
02:40I don't know anything other than that, and it sucks.
02:43It just sucks.
02:44Those are the number of different injuries, essentially, too, that he has suffered.
02:49But this specific elbow, he has left three of the last four games he's played with an
02:55elbow injury.
02:56He has exited five of the last eight games he's played with an injury.
03:02And the thing I come back to is when you say this is what you were concerned about, which
03:07I'm sure it was.
03:08I remember doing the shows with you.
03:09I would say this is what everybody was concerned about.
03:13I looked it up today.
03:14I went to his pre-draft scouting report on NFL.com, and I looked at what they said, and the
03:23number
03:23one bullet point under weaknesses was small frame will lead to durability concerns.
03:29So it's not like this is out of nowhere.
03:31This was the question.
03:33And as you said, in year one, he actually mostly proved to be able to stay on the field.
03:39Now, everyone forgets that he did break his ribs, and he probably should have missed two
03:42or three weeks, maybe close to a month.
03:44Most quarterbacks would have.
03:46But he's super tough, and I will never question that about him.
03:49Yeah, that's not the issue.
03:50He, again, gets carted off yesterday.
03:53Isn't crying.
03:54He's got no emotion on his face.
03:55He just looks upset and frustrated.
03:57But this is a dog of a human being.
04:00I have no questions about his toughness.
04:03And I do feel, I have great empathy for Jaden Daniels, because all he does is the right

04:16And I think the most frustrating thing may be for me, as I'm watching that game yesterday,
04:22my wife, brother-in-law, kids, my son's in a Jaden Daniels jersey.
04:28He looked like 2024 Jaden Daniels.

04:31And it seems like every time there's this reminder, it's like when you start smiling
04:36and everyone's laughing, you look around like, what's going to go wrong?
04:38There's this reminder of, oh, he's playing really well.
04:41This is the guy that took him to the NFC Championship game.
04:44And you just, every time he was running, I thought, is this the play?

04:48It's not the play.
04:49But there is no protecting him.
04:51How many times have we had these conversations about beefing up the offensive line?
04:55No offensive lineman could have helped him with that yesterday.
04:57How many times did we talk about getting him more weapons so they can win quickly,
05:01so he doesn't have to hold on to the ball, sliding, getting down, not taking the hit?

05:07He was falling.
05:08He was using the sideline.

05:10You know how he got hurt?
05:11He fell down.
05:13He tripped.

05:15His lineman stepped on his foot.
05:16By the way, that happens over the course of an NFL season.
05:19That'll happen 157 times at the quarterback position, right?
05:23He fell down like I would do going to the kitchen if I wasn't paying attention and stumbled.
05:29And he braced his fall.
05:31And his elbow popped out again.
05:34The blaming of Dan Quinn for this is asinine.

05:39It is ridiculous.
05:41And frankly, it should be beneath people.
05:43Because there are times when a coach can get a player hurt.

05:48When they were down 31 points and still had him in the game running an RPO.
05:52Even then, I didn't kill Dan Quinn because he should have been throwing the ball, not running it there.
05:57But you can absolutely watch that game and say, Wyatt, was he in the game?

16:57He got hurt, and he immediately came to the sideline, and he wasn't allowed to go back in.

17:03So all these people that think just putting a brace on fixes everything, he's done that once.

17:10I think, and I don't know anything, not a doctor, just a guy on the radio, you got to have
17:14surgery, right?
17:15You have to repair this thing correctly so that this stops happening.
17:18You cannot be at risk of having a major injury every time you fall over in football.

18:13The only more innocent time you touch the ground is when no one's around you and you slide early,
18:18which he was doing a great job of, by the way, before this injury happened.
18:21That's what's extra frustrating about it.
18:23You know, getting that first down, going down, make sure there was no ifs, ands, or buts.
18:27Nobody could take that cheap shot at you.
18:28Nobody could ring your bell.
18:30Nothing bad was going to happen.
18:30He was doing a great job of taking care of himself.
18:32Great job through two weeks.

18:34If that fall puts us out for however long, every lever has to be pulled to prevent that from happening.
18:42That says to me, rudimentary idiot, that's probably a surgical option with some more protection and something else in the
18:48future.
18:49Your old path led to that, that you don't get to walk that path anymore.
18:52They have taken a lot of the design runs out of this offense.
18:55The only times he was running, and he was super effective, took the game over, I thought, when Washington was
19:00on the field.
19:00Now, as you said, they couldn't get any stops.
19:02They couldn't get off the field.
19:03They gave up a ton of air to the Cowboys in the secondary.
19:06They couldn't cover anybody.
19:08And so Dallas was already leading the game, and Washington was chasing.
19:11But Daniels had 69 rushing yards, which was a top five total for him in his career already at halftime
19:17yesterday.
19:17He was going to go run for 100 yards pretty easily in that game, and he was doing everything correctly
19:22to protect himself.
19:24So my point is, if you're grading him and the team out of 100 on, hey, how do we make
19:30sure he doesn't get hurt?
19:31Their score yesterday was a 99.
19:33It was high.
19:34It was super high.
19:35Yep.
19:35And he got hurt.
19:39Sometimes these quirky, fluky things just happen.
19:42Now, I'm not saying it's fluky that he got hurt because it is now the routine thing that seems to
19:47happen.
19:47But the way, the type of injury that was suffered, the falling down, putting your hand down, he wasn't even
19:53being tackled this time.
19:54You know, last time, at least you're being twisted, and your body, your legs are going one way, and your
19:59shoulders are trying to go to the other.
20:00This was just, you're walking down the street, you trip and fall, you put your hands out.
20:05That's all that happened.
