00:02Antigua and Barbada Falcons took care of Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in
00:05their Republic Bank CPL final in Barbada's on Sunday night to clinch
00:08their maiden title. Despite going under, losing captain Rogman Powell could not
00:12have asked for more with this being the first season ever for the Jamaica
00:16franchise. It's a good feeling it's a good feeling to be honest I think it's a
00:20very hard fight campaign for us and I'm so proud of the boys. Having said that
00:24he felt the Kingsmen did not put enough runs on the board as they closed on one
00:29hundred and seventy for nine from their 20 overs and that too despite one
00:32hundred and fourteen of fifty eight balls from left-handed opener Marz Sadaqat. I
00:36think at the halfway stage we felt as if we were 10-15 shot to be honest you know
00:40we know that it's a pretty good batting wicket you know credit have to be given
00:43to our batters how they bat the first ten overs I think Marz plays fantastic for
00:47us and the partnership that is string with Saima you right there carry us to
00:51a hundred for two in ten you know and it's disappointing that as a batting
00:54group on such a good batting wicket we didn't really capitalize on such a start.
00:58After being a losing finalist with Ghana Amazon Warriors last year
01:01Falcons skipper Moeen Ali won his first CPL title and that too as a leader so how
01:07special was the victory? Yeah very special I think more for the franchise more
01:10for the players and the coaching staff and everybody that was involved it's
01:14been a tough journey but a great journey you know we've the time's gone quick for
01:18us because we've enjoyed each other's company and you can see on the field the
01:21way we played I thought tonight was an outstanding performance again but yeah
01:25really really pleased with the way we performed throughout the competition and
01:29it was a decent filing in the end I mean the duo made a big difference but it
01:33was a great touch to win. Having recently said that the Falcons were not made up of
01:36superstars Ali reiterated that his players were fighters and that's how they were
01:41able to reap the rewards and win the final convincingly. Honestly that game I played
01:45at St Lucia we were only defending 57 of 10 overs and we almost won that game and
01:50from there I just I saw fight and I saw a great determination from the guys and I
01:55thought there's at least there's something great to work with and then it
01:57was just getting the guys right I mean to having two wrist spinners two pace guys
02:01up top then two death bowlers it's not always easy to combine but I think you
02:04know the biggest difference was the players that came in and out for a couple
02:08injuries in between Karima Gore and Fabian Allen guys like that came in and out and
02:12it was wasn't easy but they made a huge difference quality players and always
02:16give everything. Antigua and Barbada Falcons are tied with St Lucia Kings, Guyana
02:20Amazon Warriors and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots all of whom have won the CPL
02:25title once.
